I shopped for you ‘GIVEAWAY’!!!

Well, it was a hard job, but someone had to do it!

I went to all my favorite shops in the Asheville, NC area and bought something at each one to send to one of you! (I wish I could send everyone something!)

First I went to Mast General in downtown Hendersonville and bought you a pair of hiking socks (I bought myself some too and I love them!)

(taken right outside the store)

They are made right here in NC and perfect for walking shoes or lightweight hikers.

Then I went to Honeysuckle Hollow and Jan was happy to see me. She has so many unique things in her store and I always find pretty things.

She had this Lavender Vanilla soap, made by Essential Journeys in Asheville, NC! YAY!

I stopped at LuLu’s consignment (a couple of times) and bought something for the holidays!

And then I drove out to A Day in the Country

and found this beautiful journal.

I tried to think if I had a theme going and the best I could do was this…

You can put on the socks and go for a brisk walk, come home and write all of your info in the journal (where you went, how far, your time, if you saw anything interesting, etc), and then take a refreshing shower with the scented soap. Oh and since you were so good to get your exercise, you can go in the kitchen and bake something ‘low cal’ and use the potholder! hahaha! LOW CAL? What’s that?

Anyone can enter this giveaway! Just leave me a sweet comment and you will be entered.

Is that easy enough? I mean I did all the hard work…all that shopping and everything!

I’ll choose a winner on Friday, December 2nd!

Good Luck!

We took a hike at Ross Prairie yesterday and it was gorgeous! Our high temp was 73 and there was even some cloud cover.

How surprising to see so much ‘Florida Fall Foliage’!

Even the pine straw was a beautiful dark red.

We walked for 1 hr 50 minutes and enjoyed being back on one of our favorite Florida trails (and the one that is closest to our house!)

A Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher!

It’s an exciting time of year to be in Florida. We can always count of seeing lots of birds, many migrating through this area on their way to Mexico or South America (and some just to winter in Florida).

yellowflycatcherIMG_5250

We had beautiful weather last weekend to take a nice long hike at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve and we spotted this Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher.

yIMG_5245

We weren’t sure why we were seeing so much lemon yellow on the breast of a Flycatcher until we got home and did a search online.

yIMG_5246

I ‘danced’ around under this tree,

yIMG_5247

trying to get a better shot! lol

yIMG_5249

Of course we saw several of our usual Flycatchers…

but it’s always fun to see a bird for the very first time!

The “Center of Attention”!

What can I say…I like being the center of attention.

crop2IMG_3515

Most of you know, I have a big family and they are scattered all over the country so I don’t get to see them all very often. So this year it was a HUGE treat to have all four of my sons come to Myrtle Beach for a week! We walked on the beach together, ate most of our meals at the same table…talked and laughed and had an amazing time.

ED2IMG_3220

And it’s always fun to measure the year’s growth of the grandkids by standing next to Nana!

They have all grown so much this past year!

nanajbIMG_4674

(and btw, I’m 5’4” tall)

I just thought I would share family photos today.

Thanks for indulging me!

What a blessing my family is to me!

Fall Blessings

We’ve had a wonderful Fall and I was very happy to take a break from my blog AND from the computer in general.

Now I’m ready to come back to blogland! I’ve missed you all! I’m ready for some serious ‘catching up’! I’ve been blessed to make some true friends here and I’ve already been going down my blog list to see what you’ve been posting. Lots happening, as always and I’ll be visiting soon!

It was a great trip!
