Halpata Tastanaki Preserve, The Pruitt Trailhead

We drove over to the Pruitt Trailhead this week and the prairies were just beautiful.

The Pruitt Trailhead is named in memory of Mark Huntington Pruitt, the son of Dr. Crayton Pruitt and Frances Pruitt, former landowners of 8,110 acres now known as the Halpata Tastanaki Preserve.

Sometimes it looks like something from ‘the Old West’!

A lot of the fields are brown or golden right now.

And I got a few pics of this little flycatcher, he posed on an old barbed wire fence.

But look how blue his beak looks in this one! (I think the light was playing tricks)

It was a beautiful day to be out on the trails!

I love how you show us a side of Florida most of us never see. I love the "natural" state of things in every state! LOL! Good fences too! I have to catch up with you too! So glad to be back.

Diane, Some of your photos never look like Florida to me. Funny how we have the image of beaches when thinking of Florida. I love the pretty bird pic. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Gorgeous! And oh my goodness... your dolls are too cute. There is an American Girl store here now, and I stop in just to look about twice a month when I am that shopping center. Someday, I will get my self one. My daughter's are put away for now. xoxo Su

Great photos - love the cute little bird. It is a lovely time of year in your area - much warmer than we are - and we are expecting snow and then freezing rain tomorrow - we are well stocked in groceries - and if the power stays on we will be warm. Have a great upcoming weekend my friend - I think I'll go and bake something yummy. Come over for a cup of tea.

I always enjoy your photos, showing a side of FL I don't see. I hope it wasn't too hot out on your hike.

Oh you are so lucky to live where the hiking season is long... it's getting mighty frosty for anything but a short hike here... Thanks for the lovely photos!

So nice that you take a walk on the trails now and then. You see so many interesting and lovely creatures when out in nature. And this creamy colored bird is one of them.

Hi Diane, lovely prairie pics you captured and they could easily be right here in Texas. Looks like you are enjoying some beautiful weather. We got cold here and expecting a deep freeze tonight. I guess we knew the warm weather wasn't going to last forever. Have a nice weekend sweet friend. Hugs

That is beautiful country. And of course you got a bird. You always show birds I am not familiar with. This one is really pretty.

Appreciated your last comment and I have been trying to visit a few people as I can, even though I haven't been posting. When was your husband in Nam? How awesome that he was a doorgunner too! Love your beautiful post. Really lovely place! I actually did my last post on 22 Nov. and haven't gotten a single comment because people are expecting me to be totally gone. :-) I have been packing like crazy! We've had several delays in leaving, but are finally getting on the road this coming Tuesday. Very excited and can't wait to get there!
