Kylee's Chariot

These photos were taken in February on a hike we took at Blue Run Park in Dunnellon. All of March went without a single hike. But we survived and things are improving!

This was a beautiful Red Shouldered Hawk that we spotted on a tree that was down in the swamp.

We met a nice couple that had just moved to Florida and they were seeing many things for the very first time. They were riding bikes and kept coming up to us when we stopped to take photos to see what we were seeing.

I'm not making fun of them....I still have trouble with many of the bird IDs. But the man was very excited and asked if it was an owl or an eagle!!! He was just as happy to learn it was a hawk.

And when we got back to the parking lot, this motorcycle went by pulling Kylee's Chariot! (there's a sign on the side)

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

I remember just before I retired, I was going over the Bay Bridge into Pensacola. There is a sanctuary for birds and ducks. Grasslands. There was a whole group of let's say my age not older:) taking photos of the birds. I thought to myself that is going to be me in just a few months. I gladly accept being a bird watcher. It is great fun.

It is funny when people move to FL. It is like living in a foreign country for a while. I am really hoping we can get back there for winters in the not-too-far-off future. Love the chariot! lol
Hope you have a great weekend. xo Diana

Hello, Diane! Happy April! It is a happy feeling, seeing things for the first time. Your hawk photos are awesome. I just love Kylee's Chariot. That is cool. The flowers are pretty, so cheerful. I hope all is well, take care. No snow here, but it is a cold and cloudy morning. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Beautiful flower and hawk! I love the chariot too although both rider and dog are unprotected....I'm not a fan of motorcycles, 4 wheelers or snowmobiles...I've known too many people who have been in accidents and killed or permanently injured....not a fan.

Oh I had not realized that you folks were down for the count for all of March. Boo hiss. I know that once the colds are gone, April will be so much better. I know that you both prefer to be out and about.

When we are out driving around we see hawks sitting up high and watching over their territories. They are always so far away that they look like a black bird way off in the distance. I had never seen a hawk up close until one landed beside our birdfeeder. I could not believe how handsome they are! So, if the man had never seen one up close and personal, I can imagine his glee.

I would like to have been on that walk/hike.

Diane....this is a fabulous post...LOVE the hawk images. And it's fun to be able to help out other birders by helping them ID what they're seeing.

Fantastic images. Hope your week ahead goes well and happy birding.

Lovely shots of the hawk/owl Diane. That made me laugh but is incredible how some people spend their lives not looking at things around them. There is so much joy to be had from taking even a simple interest in the things around us.

We've had several relatives living in Florida over the years and when we visit, it indeed feels like another country compared to the NorthEast. Right about now one of your warm balmy days would be wonderful. I hope some day the Mister and I can enjoy a month of the winter in Florida each year - not happening yet. I can't help but cringe when I see that chariot.. I hope the dog is tethered in safely.

It was nice of you to befriend the newcomers to Florida, lots of wildlife to see there.

Oh you already know how happy this post makes me. Red-Shouldered Hawks are so beautiful and the kind that makes my blog even come to life now nearly 8 years ago. Wonderful shares my dear Diane. I have my last Florida post today and next week my daughter's event story as well as what is going on with our own hawks and yes, eagles ;) Hugs

Oh, that hawk does look very much like the eagles here. Those yellow flowers are so sweet. These are great pictures of them, Diane. Oh, I love seeing your bird photos and learning who they are.

What a fun hike - love the little dog cart - and the hawk is amazing. They are not nearly so tame here - anything approaching a hawk and they are gone in one second.
