Early Summer Blooms Updated

We've had a nice shower this past week and the flowers (and grass) love the moisture!

I wanted to crop some photos and then put them in a mosaic...something a little more creative!

And when I was playing around with my photos in Picassa, I ended up with one big bloom so I made a note card out of it.

I saw this flower blooming in Sholom Park this week and tried to get an id online. I think it may be a powderpuff but most of the info on the powderpuff said it was a shrub and this was growing out of a single stem. Have you ever seen it before?

I loved seeing the water droplets when I zoomed in. And doesn't it look a little like the 'pink snowballs' that our Mothers added to our lunch bags...years ago? My sister and I both got a packed lunch and my Mother split the '2 pack' so that we each got one. (or sometimes a chocolate cupcake or Twinkie...but just one! hahaha)

I was looking online for a Snowball pic (all other photos my own!!!) and found this Lavender Snowball on Wikipedia HERE! lol  Who knew?

I’m joining Mosaic Monday HERE.

Update!!!
Sylvia from SMD Paper Arts helped me with the ID of the mystery flower! Thanks Sylvia!

It's a type of Lily, a Blood Lily or Football Lily. I found several names for it. Lots of great info once you know what to look for. For more info, the link HERE that Sylvia sent and Wikipedia HERE. Very interesting, strongly toxic and used for arrow poisons and fishing poison! Oh my!

Beautiful mosaic Diane. I did get my nature journal started while at Grimmwood. Now to get some field guides to use to identify critters and plants.

Hello, I am glad you are having the rain. The plants must be very happy soaking it all in. Love all your gorgeous blooms. The chocolate cupcakes were my favorite. Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week!

Beautiful flower Mosaic, all the colours of the rainbow, I do like the notecard that you made, it's super.
Oh those sweet little cakes, full of sugar and probably bad for us but oh how we loved them.
Happy Mosaic Monday.

Wow! Your mom was frugal. Mine was, too, always skimping on the sugar for koolaid. 🤣 The collage is very pretty...nice to be artsy!

Gorgeous mosaic - love all the details. I've never seen a flower like that unidentified one - but then we don't get such unusual flowers here - what a treat for you. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we all made mosaics of every flower we'd ever photographed? Wonder how big that would turn out to be? Have a grand week my friend - our son and his family arrive at midnight tonight from West Virginia - can't wait.

All beautiful. I was a twinkie fan myself, but it's been many years since I had one and they are memory now. Wishing you a great week!

Your Florida flowers are always SO pretty. Ours are pretty up here in Tennessee this time of year also--especially since we have had a lot of rain recently.

Hugs,
Betsy

I remember those snowball cakes! Your flowers are lovely in your pretty mosaic and the note card is stunning. I have no idea what kind of plant the red one is--the droplets of water look really lovely on it. Have a cool afternoon. We are quite warm and humid today. ♥

I love the beautiful flowers you've photographed and they make a wonderful mosaic. We walked to and from school for lunch every day until high school so didn't have boxed lunches in the early grades. I don't remember having such treats in my lunch bag in high school though. lol However, in elementary school, we would stop at the corner store and buy penny candy on our way to or from school. I guess we got our share of sugar! Have a great day! Pam

I know how nice it is to see rain after long dry spells like you have had in Florida. I love the raindrops, you really captured them, such a wonderful picture.

I cannot help you with the identification of any of these flowers, but they are very pretty. Did you have any sink holes in your town today?

Rain does wonders for thirsty flowers. Such a colourful mosaic you've created. I have no idea what that pink ball flower is, but it's very pretty, particularly with the raindrops on it. Great capture!

My oldest daughter loved Snowballs! I've made them once from scratch and may have to pull out my dome baking pan to do some when she comes in July! Love the flowers, XOXO

Dianne, What do you think of this one? Lycoris

Lycorus is a common name for several different plant types including both lycoris and belladonna lilies. They all have tall flower stalks that bloom in late summer when foliage is not present giving them a naked look. Because of this they are commonly referred to as Naked Ladies.

Oh my, that looks like the white blossom on my post. Is it a magnolia? How creative to make a card with some words out of the picture. That lavender snowball was meant just for you, Diane.

Lovely flower mosaic, Diane! The lily is very unusual and interesting! So glad that you didn't pick it and get the poison on your hands....my goodness. It's always good to do some investigation when finding a new plant! Hugs xx Karen

Lovely flowers! Wish I could send you some of the rain we have had. That red bloom reminded me of allium, but I guess it has already been identified. It certainly is an interesting bloom, but guess I wouldn't want it in the garden if it is so poisonous.

Diane, what a strange flower! It looks like a sea anemone. I remember Hostess snowballs. I didn't much care for them ~ I was a Hostess cupcake kind of girl. xo

Love the pretty flower pictures! Whatchyall up to this week, my friend? It's hot here, and humid too, but so far we've kept up with our walks. Yes, I used to love those little cakes, was one of my lunch box favorites, along with "ding-dongs" and "ho-ho's"...they came individually wrapped in FOIL BACK THEN!!(and then put into the box) ha ha ha LOL I loved Twinkies too and the chocolate cupcakes with the little squiggly white icing on the top. I even remember when "pringles" potato chips came out....mercy, I am SO OLD...LOL

Beautiful mosaic, Diane, of all your gorgeous blooms. Is the white flower in the macro shot of a gardenia? I planted them in the past, and although their perfume is heavenly, I found that they didn't do well on my patio. I also have the purple flowers but can't remember the name of them right now, and of course, the poisonous one, which I didn't know was toxic and grows on a bush.

Have a lovely week, sweet lady!
Hugs,
Poppy
