Florida Scenes

My walks have been short this week. It's been too hot to stay outside for long. But I can always stop at the Library Pond to see what's happenin'!

The flowers in the water have been gorgeous this year.

And when zoomed in on these Cattle Egrets, I got a surprise.

There was a Little Blue Heron alongside them. He looked like a dark stick from where I was standing. (he's near the water just to the left of the white egret)

And my walks at Sholom have been short too. But I always take the time to walk around to the fence line to look out over the farm.

Don't these cows look mournful? I guess cows get hot too!

But there's beauty everywhere and after a few light showers the grass is pretty and green.

I used an Antique Photo frame in Photoscape. I'm pretending to live out West...where it's COOL! haha!

Have you been able to get out and walk or enjoy the parks near you this week?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Diane, It's 64 this morning and low humidity also. I will be outside today. I am planning on sitting on the porch and writing letters. I am suppose to stay off my bum ankle for a while. I love your photos. I am missing our birds here. They seem to be hiding a lot. I hear the blue jays and robins. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

The cows are beautiful! the laying down is their way of trying to stay cool and give the bugs less room to land on them. They roll in the dust too for the the same reasons.

It's actually been humid here in CT - feels like Florida!

Hello, love the cattle egrets and the Little Blue Heron. The cows must get hot too, I guess they stay cooler by laying around. They are awesome looking cattle. Wonderful photos and I like your frame. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Hello Diane!:) What a nice surprise to discover the stick was a Little Blue Heron, which looks surprisingly small against the Cattle Egrets. Lovely shots by the water, and in the field. The poor cows have no shade, but look good in your compositions. Have a great weekend!:)

Beautiful Florida photos! As a former Floridian, I love seeing your photos of all the nature that I still miss. I agree, poor mournful looking cows, who look like they could use a big trough of ice. :)

No, I'd have to drive 40 miles to find one. It has turned off warm and humid here after showers all morning. The cows do look a bit somber. I liked your surprise in the photo...the blue heron. I once took a photo of a heron without knowing...quite exciting to see!

It has rained pretty much all week. One day when it stopped for a bit I walked but the humidity was horrid!

The most fun about walking these days is watching my Miss Sissy flop in front of the vent immediately after walking in the door afterward. She doesn't even give me a chance to take off her lead. She gets so hot!

I love that antique photo. That is so cool! Is Photoscape an expensive download? Boy, with horns the size that bull has, I'm sure that no one messes with him, LOL.
Happy weekend.
Connie :)

I love the cow pictures!!!! While growing up I was friends with a girl whose father had all kind of cattle. He had Brama Bulls and Watusi so these pictures took me back there. They are lovely animals indeed. It is 71 degrees here. It has been hot here too, but thankful for the cool retreat. We are going to a cookout tonight. It should be great!

Usually you see the cattle under a tree. Maybe they like the heat! Ha. I hope you are staying cool. Your photos of the birds are always nice to see. ♥

I like egrets and love herons, I didn't know they could be dark like that. It goes to show you, not every stick is a stick. Those cows are so pretty. How regal is that long horn (if that's what it is)? The cow in the second to last photo to the right looks like it's laughing. Laughing Cow.

The birds have the right idea for staying cool- near or in the water! I'm sure the cattle must really mind the heat, and the insects! Bet they'd like to go for a dip!

Ohhh I do love a surprise in a photo - great shots. And the cattle - my goodness they do look a bit weary. The farm is gorgeous. We have finally had some warm and sunny weather - it was cold and rainy the whole time our son and his family were here from West Virginia - but they loved it - as it has been very hot in WV already this summer. After they left on Tuesday we are spending the last of Don's vacation days doing a little vacationing ourselves - enjoying rides in the country, lunches out, some antique shopping and trips to the islands. I'll get caught up on ready blogs soon - I hope. I even did a little doll dress crocheting today - maybe soon I'll be back to normal. Happy new week my friend.

I absolutely enjoyed every one of your pictures, Diane! I love the blue herons we have at the lake...they like the bay I'm on as it's quiet and we have shallow shorelines for them to do their 'fishing'!!! very elusive and I'd be so happy to get a picture of one of these beauties!

Stay cool!

Beautiful photos ....like yourself it is just too hot to go out walking which is a shame as I miss my exercise. Still visits to the beach are the next best thing. Intimidating head gear on that long horn cow phew!!!These picture of the cattle remind me of the breed of cow they have in India.

keep well

I do enjoy your photos from your walk.

Love the cattle Diane!! Wow, I think those horns on the one would be mighty awkward and heavy, don't you?

Your birds at the pond...beautiful!!!!!!!

And yes, I know just what you mean about ' short walks '...it's hot here too.

Thanks again....Sharing with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' is always appreciated.

Yes it was hot in Georgia as well. Then as we packed up to leave this morning, it was so cool and pleasant.

What a delightful walk to encounter such beautiful birds! Nice surprise too, to see the heron there in your pictures! And those cows did certainly look a bit sad. The heat is rough on everyone I think! I liked the antique frame you used on the picture, very nice touch. I like to walk in the late evenings here when the sunsets are astounding, and the weather is cooler. Our sun comes up here by 4:00 a.m., so walking in the evening works out better, lol! Hugs to you today :)

It has been too hot for comfort here too. Thankfully this week it is much cooler.
Your water lillies are stunning as are your herons!
Such large horns on that bull. I wouldn't want to be chased across the field by him!!
Have a wonderful week with hugs from us :)

Lovely library pond! Those longhorns always look so uncomfortable! They must have a perpetual headache! :-) Nice shots!

I LOVE the Long Horned Steer. We went West 5 years ago and I saw a couple of them but we had miles to go before our stop and the husby would say "We'll see more later and finally later came, almost dark and he stopped and I got some pics, but nothing as dramatic and handsome as your shares. Happy New Week~

I love the photo showing the water lilies, I can't blame the critters for sitting down in the heat!

All the best Jan

What a wonderful picture of the brown cow surrounded by all those white ones. It's fun to take pictures of cattle. They are interesting animals. Love those white egrets too. And the flowers in the water are so pretty. It's nice to go along with you on your walks. : )

Have a peaceful weekend, Diane.
