'Mile a Day in May' Challenge!

My blog friend Carol at Buttercup Counts her Blessings gave us a challenge to walk a mile a day in May and I DID IT! Yay! I'm proud of myself and everyone that took part! And a special thanks to Carol who inspired and motivated us!

(this doesn't have anything to do with walking but my hubby made it for me so it's here for a laugh and you KNOW it's TRUE!)

I don't wear a device to measure my steps or distances but I always write down my hikes and walks and how long I walked.

(an evening walk to the pond near my house)

So in May I took 8 hikes that were approximately 3 to 4 miles each, 3 walks at the park that are about 2 miles each, and the other days, I walked around my neighborhood.

So I'm pretty sure I walked at least 40 miles!!!

It was a HOT month and we only had ONE day of rain. But I love to walk and feel great when I do!

To celebrate I'm going to have my hair cut short! lol I've let it grow out for months now and I'm SO tired of it! So the next time you see me...I'll look more like my profile pic! heehee!

 I’m joining Thankful Thursdays.

I'm so blessed to have beautiful places to walk!

 Do you enjoy walking too?

Good morning, congrats to you for completing the walking challenge. You do have lots of pretty parks to walk. Yes, hubby and I both love to walk.

Happy Thursday, enjoy your day and the weekend ahead.

I am sure you feel better after the walks. I love walking and never ever take a sound system. I see everyone walking these days with headphones. I just love the sounds of nature.

Diane, You are so funny. I would never doubt you could walk a mile a day or more. Look at those long blocks Buttercup walks in the big city...but then, look at all the coffee shops there are to visit. LOL I would walk a mile for a good cup of coffee. LOL. You hubby knows what he's talking about. :) Blessings to you both,, xoxo, Susie

Congrats on that achievement! I do love walking, it is a challenge here in the mountains!

That was a great challenge, I am sure that it helped develop the habit of walking in many who struggle with it and wanted to make some healthy changes. Not everyone realizes the blessings of going for a walk until they give it a try. Not only the exercise but what I love is the tranquility and the way you actually see more of the beauty around you when you slow down and leave the car parked.
Happy hair cut day!
Connie :)

I love walking but haven't done it much at all in the last few months. You are making me want to get my shoes on and go!! A mild a day in June. That should be my motto.

You are so cute!

Congrats on the mile a day...you have done so much better then me. I need to get up and move it more. So yay for you! Keep up the good work. Shorter hair, I have spent my adult life going from longer to short, letting it grow and back to short. When I say short....I mean short. Right now it is where I can pull it back and up. I think I will leave it that way for a bit. Thanks for sharing today....WALK, WALK...and cont. to walk.

I do love to walk but the heat gets me and so I limit myself. Congrats on that many miles in a month! Staying active is so important.

Oh yes, Diane, I love to walk! Congratulations on your walks for the month of May. Hopefully I'll be able to resume our morning 2 milers since my knee acted up. It's still not right, but better. I love the wanted poster your hubby made--so cute. Enjoy your afternoon. ♥

Well done, Diane! I love to walk too and would enjoy a walk down to the pond with you! I'm thinking you probably walk early or later in the day to avoid the heat?
Happy June!

I'm sure you know what my answer to that question is. YES!
I feel out of sorts if I don't walk a day. : )

I love walking on our farm. The dogs always go with me and are the perfect companions! Thanks for linking up today and best wishes for a great weekend.

Diane, wow - a mile each day in May is quite an accomplishment. You must have so much energy from all that exercise - thus staying up late. Good for you! ♥

Dianna said...

Congratulations on that walking accomplishment! Isn't it great to be outside enjoying the beauty of God's creation around us? xx

Congratulations!! Do you plan to continue in June? Please post a pic of your new cut!

Wow Diane,
Good for you! I love to walk. I used to do it every day and for a while my girl friend and I were walking about 22 miles a week. Now, not so much but need to start back in. We have a nice trail in town that is about 4 miles round trip and I need to get there at least 3 times a week. I think you may have inspired me!!! LOL! Take care!

Well good for you - what an accomplishment. I'd love to walk - rain or shine - but having had polio as a very young child my walks are very limited as my legs make the decision for me as to when and how long I am allowed to walk. But even when sitting - or riding in the car - I love to enjoy nature and all the beauties around me, I have so much to be thankful for - as some friends that had polio are not even able to move about any more at all. Have a grand weekend my dear - and enjoy your walk if it is cool enough to get out and about.

Well done, you. I think you probably made the mile a day by the sound of it. When I get out to walk I enjoy it but I haven't gone walking for quite a while now.

Congratulations on reaching your goal, Diane.
I do enjoy walking but I don't always remember that until I'm out there doing it :).

I should walk but my dogs can't come with me as they (like me) have arthritis and it is hard on their joints to walk on the pavement...that's why I stopped too but I should give it a go. I almost feel guilty not taking them with me but they can only make it a little ways and then they sit! LOL! I can't really get any aerobic benefit when I take them. Also, I am on my feet around here most of the day and up and down the stairs. My step counter broke so I need a new one. It sounds like a bunch of excuses doesn't it...and I think they are! LOL! I need to walk!
Good for you and your husband is funny.....poor baby...he can't sleep alone?

Good for you! I love walking and my ditch walk gives me a couple of miles but I'm a little lax on doing it daily. If it's too cold or rainy, I wimp out. Maybe I'll be able to pull that challenge off when I get up north!

Good for you, Diane, for walking so much! I love that pond near your house, it's so peaceful and pretty. Oh, you're cutting your hair! It looks straight and fine, like I've always wanted. I'd like to see your hair longer sometime. : )

Happy June, Diane!

Very cool "Wanted Poster", Diane! A short haircut is always a must with me in the late spring. It's cooler while taking the daily walk. We never know when suddenly it will get hot here in New England. :)

I love to walk, but around here there's so much uphill and downhill. I think I need to find some flat places to walk. Maybe take one dog at a time to town or something... You should be really, really proud. That's wonderful that you kept up you walking program. And, you do look nice with your hair short. I never saw you with it longer, but your picture looks really good.

Congrats! I've kept up my walking too- even though I had many days of sitting with my mom. She would giggle at me walking up and down the halls and I think it entertained her somehow. Oh my. Well, I'm glad you met your challenge. Have a great weekend!

Congratulations! I need to get up and try to walk before Roger gets up. Just don't know what he would do if he got up and I was not here. I don't know if he would look for a note, and know he would not remember if I told him the night before.

Us too! we walk walk walk......but we truly love it. Its hard on the really sweltery days tho...then we walk at night! Cant wait to see your new haircut my friend! I'm glad you got it done...with the heat back now, it just feels so much better and easier to take care of--I went and got mine cut in May too. I'm trying to catch up on your posts--kidney stones have slowed me down and I've gotten behind.( I DETEST THOSE THINGS!) I loved the previous post......oh my GOSH YOU REALLY SCORED BIG with the Barbie carry case! I love it so much! I had one very similar, I will have to post a picture of it, i know I have one somewhere. I had the 1959 I think it was bubble hair-do doll and the case and just about all the clothes that were the original ones. I loved my Barbie dolls and Midge and Ken and later on I LOVED FRANCIE, she was sometime in the sixties I think. I wanted her SO BADLY FOR CHRISTMAS THAT YEAR and sure enough,I got her.I got the orange convertible car a year or so later. Sure with I'd kept it!! Later on I loved Stacey--I think she was Barbie's British friend? Mine was a talking Stacey, and she said phrases like "I think mini skirts are smashing!" ha ha ha LOl--the things that come back to me as i sit and think. Stacey had some really cool wild outfits for sure and GO-GO BOOTS!! AND FISH NET STOCKINGS! not panty hose.....but real stockings....she had a tiny rainbow color lingerie set and peti-pants with hot pink ruffles I think? and hot pink garters to hold up her little "stockings"!! I thought she WAS SO SO COOL AND GROOVY!! LOL And then there came a new friend named "P.J." maybe it was? I also remember Skipper, didn't she come in a red sailor bathing suit?

I try to walk a mile a day on my treadmill in addition to what I walk all day long. I have a fit bit and it really adds up quickly.

I think I'm going to cut my hair too. I was thinking of growing it long but I'm sick of it already. xo
