Hummingbirds Hummin'

We have a few hummers coming to our feeder now but of course they don't share very well. It seems that one keeps watch from the trees and when the others come to drink, it chases them off.

But they are fun to watch! And one day I stood very still in our courtyard to photograph this pretty little female.

Of course I thought all of my photos were fabulous! haha

So I made a mosaic to share them ALL!

I even liked the one that was 'out of focus'.

The Vincas look pretty in the pots but the hummers like the Mexican Petunias and roses better. We've had rain and everything is very lush and beautiful It looks like a tropical Paradise outside.

I've been busy this week and not on my computer much.
I'll have fun visiting you all this weekend!

Do you have a fun weekend planned?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

We've had a few Hummingbirds to the garden. I don't have a feeder, but lots of friendly flowers they love and some red Hibiscus that draws them to the garden!

They are challenging to photograph as they are so quick. You managed to get some lovely shots. We love watching them. I'm off the fill my feeder now.

Hello, love your pretty hummer photos. The male watches my feeders like a hawk, he will chase off others quickly.
Pretty sky image. I enjoy your photos and mosaic! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Hello Friend,

Our hummingbirds are fighting, we saw 6 at one time and of course nobody got a sip of nectar.

We are beginning to see early traces of fall, the tulip maple trees arebeginning to drop their leaves (such a pretty shade of yellow)and the dogwood trees have pretty red on their leaves. It won't be long before we see more falling leaves.

Hugs
Joyce

Oh- I love hummers. We have had them at our other homes but not here. I think the strong winds off the bay might deter them--not sure. Your pictures are great, Diane.

I haven't been blog visiting nearly as much either. I have tried to catch up a bit in the last day or so. Just so much going on all the time, it seems.

Hope you have a blessed weekend- xo Diana

It's amazing how territorial hummers are...

Diane, I love your mosaics. So pretty. I stood almost into our Japanese maple to get great shot of our hummers one year. It's fun to catch them hovering. Blessings for a great weekend. xoxo, Susie

Oh I love watching the hummers at the feeder. Never see more than two so maybe we only have one pair here. I know they can be quite vicious, chasing each other. Enjoy their visits!

We have lots of Hummingbirds this year, but they move so fast all my photos are blurry!

Nice shots of the humming bird. I didn't put our feeder out this year because in years past
the birds would come by, but never stop at the feeder. They seem to like the real flowers better.

I saw "hummingbirds hummin'" on my side bar, and had to come right over! What a sweet picture of the hummingbird. This bird is so amazing cause it's always in motion, which demonstrates perseverance. It is my most beloved bird. The Mexican petunias are so pretty, what a stunning color.

I'm glad this sweet bird came to pay you a visit. : )

love, ~Sheri

I feel like I should break into a song [on the theme of the 12 days of Christmas]...One hummer humming, etc.

Okay, great mosaic today, wonderful hummingbird images [and yes, the one out of focus so to speak is good, 'cause that's just about the correct way the eye would see it in fast motion!!, right?

You shared some great photos today, and I appreciate you sharing them with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend!! Thanks.

Since I no longer have feeders myself, special thanks for sharing yours! Hummingbirds are so funny, so tiny and delicate looking and yet so feisty! They always made me laugh!

Oh I adore the hummingbirds. So pretty and scientific marvels, aren't they? Not much of a weekend planned here. A lot of relaxing lately, lol.

Pretty little things arent' they? I do love to watch them. We had quite a few of them several years ago, and I loved to watch their wild swooping antics---they got real wild fighting over coveted perches and branches, and food! I never got any great pictures of them like you have here tho. I've been waiting impatiently all summer for them to come back and had given up. Just a couple of days ago, Mr. Front Porch spied one early one morning while out watering....seems they like the "mist" setting real well and it seemed to attract one---I had given up so the food in the hanger wasn't fresh at all, dang it!! So quickly later that day I made a big batch of fresh food........replace it....and now waiting!! Hope they come back!

Oh so sweet - I love pictures of hummingbirds so very much - even out of focus. I figure if I can just get them in the frame I'm doing good. Your flowers are so pretty. Have a grand week my friend!!!

I love watching the hummingbirds. They're so tiny and those wings move so incredibly fast! Great job getting a picture of them! xo

We have only a few hummingbirds.......the wasps are so bad about taking over the feeders. Living as far out in the country as we do......anything to eat or drink....makes all nature try to take it over. Your photos are wonderful!

Hummers are just so, so sweet!

How did you know it was a female? From what I've heard they are very territorial and each 'family' has their own feeder which they claim and come to the same one each year. They will chase away any other hummers that try to feed from their family's feeder. Don't quote me though as I am sure there are much wiser people that know more about hummers. This could be just 'fake news' I'm repeating! LOL!
