A Quiet Week

It's been quiet here this week...quiet is good! Our area is still cleaning up after Hurricane Irma and there are downed trees and piles of debris everywhere. But there are also lots of workers and trucks carting off the uprooted trees. I read a sad article in the paper today about my dear Sholom Park. They lost over 20 huge trees and since many were uprooted, it damaged the sidewalks and paths. Fencing was damaged too. So it's been closed but the article said, " New creative designs and beautiful landscaping will replace what was destroyed. We will rebuild and be back to normal soon."
The photo in my header is Sholom Park.

These are pics from my little neighborhood pond this week.

A moorhen family was in the middle of the pond.

Come on kids, try to keep up!

And a Great Blue Heron flew into a Cypress tree while I watched.

He posed for me on the bank of the pond.

He just about disappeared into the reeds.

But he was watching me!

A sweet little Grebe swam by too. (I love the way the water looked in this photo)

It's been a terrible week of devastation around the world. I'm keeping everyone in my prayers.

Happy Fall Y'all!!! 🌻🌻🌻

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Oh I am sorry about your beautiful park. Perhaps it is good for some trees to be down...it allows new growth and some creative ideas in. Hoping that it won't be too noticeable once you are able to visit again. One thing is sure...you have your pictures and your memories. Praying for ongoing recovery for Houston, Florida, and Puerto Rico. You take care, Diane.

Great photos! There are piles of ugly debris everywhere here too but it will all be taken away in time. There is so much to deal with, I know it will take weeks to get it all carted away. The blue heron is gorgeous!

What a shame about the park losing all those trees.

Love your photos as usual! Especially the grebe one! I like the water in that one, too! It has been a heartbreaking week for so many...and poor Puerto Rico! We need to send healing prayers and also say prayers for protection, too.

Those Great Blue Herons have the longest necks! Such a peculiar, yet pretty bird. I always wondered why they were called Blue Herons, but your pictures show their tints of blue. So sorry to hear of the damage done at your favorite park. I'm sure it will look even better once they clean up and rebuild. : )

love, ~Sheri

I am so sorry to hear about all the trees that were uprooted in our favorite park, but I am excited to hear about new plans for it in the future. I am sure that you will share the photos with us when they get it cleaned up and recreated. It will be wonderful!

Other places in the world may not do so well on the clean up. I pray for all the people who are left with nothing.

Stay cool! It is really hot here.

So sad about the devastation around the world and the loss of life and homes....it does no one any good to worry or fret though....stay uplifted and help where you can! Love your photos! Did It ell you we had a blue heron at the end of our lake where there are lily pads and it is shallower? I was so surprised! He must have gotten lost! LOL!

Oh, so sad about the park. I know when they reopen it will be simply beautiful but sad that it has to close for the reason it did.

Stunning photos this time (as always). Do you get bored with fabulous compliments? Hope not, because they'll keep coming!

So sorry that there's such a mess but I'm glad the birds are still where you expect them to be. Nice captures.

It makes me so happy to know that at least some of the birds have found their way home. From the FM paper that we read on line, it sounds as if many if not most of our favorite parks are still closed for repairs ... I really wonder what will be there when we get back in November.

I love the ripply water around the Grebe.
