‘The Florida Trails’ Hike #41

I started researching what this trail was exactly and spent about an hour looking at hiking trails in our area. Check out the Rails to Trails website HERE. It’s the time of year when we ‘hit the trails’! The high temps have been around 80 degrees and we usually have a light breeze….perfect!

This was a very ‘quiet’ hike. I went by myself. Yes, I know all the dangers but there are dangers walking around the neighborhood too. There are dangers inside your house if you really think about it.

They’ve improved the trail greatly by paving it. I still prefer a rugged trail through the woods but it’s a lot easier to walk on a smooth surface. Lots of evidence of wildlife (watch where you step! haha)

I saw lots of tiny birds.

Flocks of pretty little Palm Warblers.

A Carolina Chickadee (Poecile carolinensis). Thanks to David from Travels with Birds for a positive ID on this bird! I love learning the correct identification of the birds I see.

And even a Great Crested Flycatcher.

He posed! lol

When’s the last time you got out in the woods to enjoy nature?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Great photos--so that 's where my little yellow warblers go as they pass through here. Tell them 'hi.' Great trail.

May I point out, with great respect, that your chickadee is a Carolina Chickadee (Poecile carolinensis), not a Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus).

I love to walk in the woods, but haven't been out much lately because of the heat and the fact that the snakes and critters (like chigars) have not left yet. Pretty shots of the birds.

I don't hike anymore though I loved it at one time. It is lovely seeing your photos and hearing of your hikes and bird finds!

I'm usually out every morning, I mostly see rabbits, lots of ravens, a hawk or two, and lots of little birds that don't want to pose. A lot of coyote sightings too, but that's earlier before we go for our walks. I saw only one snake this summer and that was a pretty garter snake.

You certainly have a lot of pretty birds close by. We do not have many here in town. It is a little chilly here. This morning it was 24 degrees. Everything is usually white in the mornings. Enjoy your wonderful weather there.

What a lovely place to be out for a walk/hike.
Those birds are lovely and great that you can identify them too.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

All the best Jan

I love how communities are making trails from old railway lines. Even though I do wish we had more trains! Your bird photos are lovely. That sweet chickadee is one of my favorite birds. The last wild area we walked was in England. There are so many paths and hikes to enjoy there. ♥

Since my husband has to use a mobility scooter, we are relegated to such paved walks, and re always so happy when one is available. We sure miss real hiking, which we used to do a lot of! Fabulous bird shots! You had some great sightings!

Good for you and I agree with you about 'dangers' plus it's not in our hands what happens to us although we need to observant of our surroundings and not take risky changes. I'm single so if I had to have a 'partner' before I did anything I would never leave the house! LOL!
You have such gorgeous wildlife there!

You don't say what those dangers are and it all looks pretty idyllic to me. Lovely pics of those warblers and the Great-crested Flycatcher.

Personally, I'd much rather hike the birding trails alone since I can then stop, listen, photograph without interruption. Beautiful area, and as you say in your narration, perfect temps.

Thanks, as always, for sharing this post with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week!! Your participation is very much appreciated.

Diane, I can't imagine it wold be dangerous to go on that lovely trail. I don't think I'd get lost if it was paved. :-)

Looks like a great place for a walk. Nice shots of the birds.

nt sure why it should be dangerous to walk by yourself. I´m always alone when Im out hiking. Rarely have company. Nothing bad has happend to me doing that.

It´s a beautiful forest and lovely birds seen :)

I may be naïve, but I just don't think about going walking/hiking on my own. I always pay attention to my surroundings as I go ... but that's about it. So good for you getting out there and providing us with a peek into the wildlife in your area - warblers are my favorite from this group. Have a joyful week!

Diane,
Your hiking trail looks great, and the birds are a real bonus.

Yes, I hike. We have many trails in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado where we live in the summer.

The birds are a bonus and your pictures are beautiful.

However, I would never go alone. We have both mountain lions and bears
in our area. I even get nervous when it is just my husband and myself. I prefer a crowd...but then again, I am a scaredy Cat!

Hunting season...I’ve been wearing blaze orange at John’s place. 😳

Your newly paved path must be a treat and your photography is mighty fine. Must be the steady footing!

That's brave of you to hike the trail alone. I love the little yellow birds, and the Carolina Chickadee is sweet too. I just took a walk at the park, and I want to start walking more. : )

Enjoy the week ahead, Diane.
