A Walk in the Woods in December

I know many of you love the winter season but we retired to Florida to enjoy the mild winters!

(Bending your neck all the way to look UP at the sky!)

We’ve been getting some cold nights but it’s in the 70s for highs this week so I hiked in shorts in December! I love it!

We saw lots of beautiful sights on our hike #48 on the Florida trails this week.

I’ll probably save a few photos for a mosaic.

chipperIMG_3360

We saw lots of little birds and even a flock of about 50 Chipping Sparrows!

The camera overexposed this pic but it’s still pretty neat to capture two Chipping Sparrows! (thanks hubby)

This pretty Dove posed for us!

And there were lots of these lemon yellow Palm Warblers.

The pine against the sky is a beauty
If we moved I wouldn't necessarily miss the cold weather but since this is likely where we will stay snow has its own charm.
In the meantime I'll take a deep breath and enjoy your balmy December weather through you photos.

I enjoy seeing the beauty of photos with snow, but not a fan of getting out in it. Enjoy your fine weather. It's chilly here in OK, but will climb into the 50s with sunshine today. Happy saturday!

Hello, pretty images from your walk. Love our sweet birds, the Chipping Sparrows are not here in the winter. I miss them. The warbler and dove are pretty. Thanks so much for linking up and sharing your post. Have a great day and happy weekend.

Gorgeous scenery and great photos! Still, my favorite is the last one because you are in it!

Other than being here for grandkids/kids I would move back to FL in a heartbeat. Snow and do nothing for me-except to watch the joy on the kids' faces when we get a big snow.

Great pictures. You really do see a lot of birds there.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Diane. xo Diana

Lovely shots. I particularly love the first one. I come home from a hike with a crick in my neck, from taking so many of those kinds of shots :)

I love that there are all these hiking trails in Florida. It has been in the high 60s here in the mountains, but today it cooled off a bit, which I love. After living in Southern California for so long, I had an opposite wish from yours: I wanted to retire to the snow. Which we had plenty of when we first moved here, now I wonder if I will see any at all.

Yes--I like wearing shorts here knowing they are freezing in NY--though I almost moved back--
Finally today I heard and seen some birds flying around and chasing each other when I went out for my walk around--and yesterday had some down to the dock--they have all been missing for awhile now--have no idea where they went--but am glad they are back--or at least I am hoping they are back!!!
enjoy the moments,di

I love looking at the winter. We've had cold days and snow already. I'm not ready to start looking at Southern real estate, but I am glad I will be away for part of January and February.

You really and truly take the best nature pictures of any I've seen in Bogland. It's a wonderful talent, and takes a lot of love for the outdoor world.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Howdy there Diane, so glad to see you stopped in. I didn't know you lived so CLOSE TO WEEKI WACHEE!! Lucky you! I sure do love it there, one of my favorite places for sure. I never get tired of watching the mermaid shows and I could ride the river boat over and over..... It's just "so old Florida", and I love it that way. I loved hiking with y'all this time....love that picture of the path stretching out before you....so nice....and so symbolic I guess?--to me anyway. You got some great shots of the birds again!!---you or hubby--whichever....you both get great pictures. I love love love the one of the dove. Is that a mourning dove, do you know? you should enlarge that one and hang it up somewhere in your house. Hope y'all are having a great weekend....we've had a nice low-key one here, we have walked but also rested alot, and did a little shopping, and took a nice long drive.Oh---yes!!--we are like you....we live here for the wonderful climate too. I so enjoy seeing everyone's snow pictures but there's now way i would ever want to live in the cold. We are spoiled with the warm weather here aren't we?

PS--I love the swags you made and put up!! You did a great job!!

Oh so very pretty....both the Florida landscape AND the wonderful array of birds this week. Diane, I really look forward to seeing your images of the Sandhill Cranes too. They're marvelous birds.

As always, thanks for sharing your post with us at I'd Rather B Birdin'. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Happy last week before Christmas ....love love love Ria x ❤️

Just put a red bow on the pine branch that the Lemon yellow warbler is sitting on and you have Christmas. Chad met with his bird club at McDonald's this morning. After they eat, they are given a map of an area in which to count birds. It is their Christmas bird count. It wasn't too cold to be out counting birds today. However, you would never catch me out there! LOL!

More beautiful photos. It is a bit colder here, and rainy. Wondering what Christmas weather will be like.

Really beautiful photos, Diane (and husband). Love the pine branch with the tiny yellow Palm warbler. Have a wonderful week.

I wish I could capture birds like that on my walks. Problem is I usually only have my cell phone along and our birds don"t sit still that long!:0 Enjoy the holidays! Janey

aahh, what a precious bird the dove is. I love those little sparrows, they're sweet, and I always have to stop for a yellow or red bird. The sky picture is pretty, and what a cool tree that is. It's so good of you to take a walk in the woods, Diane, especially this Christmas season. : )
