‘Special Days’

We all have them! And mine fell on the weekend! So I am having a special weekend that is extending into Monday!

It’s my birthday!

I’ve talked to several of my blog buddies that have January birthdays! We should form a club!

DIANE01

My sweet cousin sent me this old photo recently.  It was taken at her house when we were playing dress up. How do you like our hats? We had on high heels too.

And the nice lady, Tricia at Castles n Crowns made my banner a few years ago. I LOVE it!

I’m writing this ahead of time and hoping all my dreams come true. I’m hoping my weekend will include a hike and some football. Oh, and some special meals that hubby has planned. I had hoped to have some sugar free cheesecake from our favorite bakery but they don’t make it any more. What will I do? I may have to get creative! I don’t miss sugar very often but it does seem a shame not to have dessert on your special day!

How many years ago was this taken? I’ll never tell! hahaha!

Diane

Happy Birthday to all my January blog sisters.

(and all my blog buddies born in the ‘50s!)

Join me in the celebration this weekend! How long can I keep this going? Birthday cakeGift with a bowBirthday cake

I’m joining Mosaic Monday HERE .

My cousin is a Jan 1 baby and my brother got married on Jan 1 many years ago. i love the dress up photo and that was a favorite pastime for me. i remember mothers heels from 1942 and her purse that was black and white. i loved both. I gave up sugar last Jan 26, this Friday will be one year. i skipped cake on my Sept birthday and did not miss it at all. I did not know you don't eat sugar either. i also gave up white flour, but i do eat a burger bun twice a month.

Happy Birthday!!! Your pictures are so precious...you were/are a cutie pie! The picture I have on my sidebar has me holding a baseball too....that must have been 'the thing' back then for photographers. I hope you have a wonderful birthday and since it's your birthday I'd go for the regular cheesecake unless you're diabetic? I always make an exception on holidays. Have fun!

Happy Birthday, fellow Capricorn! I adore all your wonderful photos from your childhood in the 50s. I was bown in 48, so definitely a child of the 50s. I had to look twice at a few of those photos. I could have been one of those little girlsl In fact, one looks much like me at that age. It's interesting how things look the same in these photos.

Happy Birthday!! Oh my those pictures are adorable! Do any little girls play dress up anymore?? I too used to play with my cousin. Our grandma had a big box full of dresses from the 30's and 40's and we'd play dress up everytime we went over there. Man I'd sure love to have those dresses NOW! Hope you have a wonderful birthday week!

Diane - trying to stretch your birthday weekend to it's limits - it's only 8 pm out here in Montana!!! Happy Birthday, my friend! Those black and white pictures brought back so many memories - yes, I think all the photographers had the same set-ups and props back then! Thanks for pointing out your banner - I just caught on that you are IN the book! So cool!

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEET FRIEND!! I hope all your birthday wishes came true and that you found something delicious and sweet to eat! I just love all the childhood pictures. Gosh, they look so much like my own. It really was a different world, wasn't it? Such a different time. I so wish our grandchildren could grow up in a world like what we had. "Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end". Do you remember that old song? Sweet pictures....I see bikes, a tricycle, playing dollies and playing dress-up, maybe a hula hoop? I used to love to hula hoop. One thing for sure---you and I are STILL PLAYING with dolls, right? ha ha LOL

Happy Birthday my dear - a little late - but I did think about you last week. I've been dealing with a dear friend who has quite suddenly (in only a few month's time)lost her husband - such a sad time.

But I hope you got all your birthday wishes - you cute little thing - you've not change much - still cute and charming as always. Happy sweet birthday.
