Critters Two by Two!

It’s amazing to see critters together….as in mating!

IMG_4963

I was all set to take a photo of a Limpkin when another one flew in.

How embarrassing….look the other way!

And when we got home and looked at our photos of this Alligator….

low and behold, there were TWO! One on top of the other…oh my…let’s not zoom in on them!

We see LOTS of turtles and tortoises when we hike at Blue Run Park in Dunnellon.

Imagine our surprise to see this itsy bitsy baby right on the trail. Another hiker picked it up and let me take photos.

A pretty pair of wood ducks.

Lots of critters pairing up right now.

It’s Spring!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Spring brings mating time. I saw two birds the other day. They befuddled Gus, the Springer.

Were those crocs smiling? haha, love must be in the air. Well, not quite spring here yet. Our weatherman was giving the weather forecast last evening and said 'well, here is the March you all know and hate'. Well said I thought.

I always know I'll find beautiful things here on a Saturday. Well, OK -- the crock, not so beautiful but fascinating and a wonderful shot.

Hello Diane!:) Great shots of these mating pairs, and tiny turtle. Lucky you, being in the right place at the right time.:)I especially liked your Limpkins captures, and seeing the Wood Ducks. It's still raining none stop here, and no sign of Spring yet.:(

Ha, ha. Even Alligators have to get it together sometime Diane. A lovely little turtle starting out on life - magic.

Sadly that little turtle will probably be a wild one's meal, as not many of the little hatch lings make it to their first year, even their first five. I have two and I am not happy to know too late in life that once your raise them from that tiny, they can never be released. Oh Sigh. I hope that you have a wonderful week, dear one~

This post reminds me of the Bambi movie, in which the spring-time animals were 'twitterpated'. So cute!

OMG ..Look at all those darling little turtles... I remember one big one crossing the highway in Orlando and it hung up the traffic for hours ha Ha). It’s such a joy to see the birds on the ponds ..but beware those hungry alligators... All is so beautiful... I’m enjoying your SPRING pictures.... xoxoxox

Spring is in the air everywhere! (It never seems quite like spring to me here in Florida -- but the critters know!). One time a ranger at the Everglades in Shark Valley showed us a video of alligator courtship that he and his wife had taken. The male was very gentle, bringing his 'love' sticks and other gifts for her nest -- it was very surprising t me.

The Limpkin is a funny looking fellow with that long beak, but kind of cute. And that baby turtle is so precious. : )
