The Water Lily

One perfect flower!

wDSCN2870

When we hike Ross Prairie State Forest, the trail makes a big loop.

waterDSCN2875

We turn at this pretty little pond.

Do you see a little white dot at the top right of the water?

wDSCN2869

And when we hiked there a couple of weeks ago, we saw ONE perfect flower!

waterlilyDSCN2867

Isn’t it gorgeous?

I’ll be anxious to take this hike again to see more.

Thanks hubby for these close ups!

I had a lot of neat photos to share, so I decided to make a mosaic out of most of them.

best

A nice hike through the pines and oaks. Listening to birds and stopping to see wildflowers. You never know what you’ll see.

I thought of ‘beauty and the beast’ for my caption when I decided to include this photo.

It’s just sap leaking out of a tree but it looks a bit ‘beastly’, doesn’t it?

Diane, That is the perfect water lily. So pretty. Your husband did a fabulous job getting those shots. The sap shot made me think of our pines...some times I find sap globs in the yard or on the driveway. I never touch them...you will have a hard time getting it off your fingers. LOL Blessings for a great week and a nice hike or two. xoxo, Susie

It is so great that you have these beautiful trails to walk. They are safe and there are always gorgeous things to point your cameras to. And share, which is so good for us who follow your blog.

That is a beautiful water lily. I used to have Queen of the Night cactus with night blooming flowers that looked like the water lily, kind of amazing the flowers of a water plant and a desert plant would look similar.

The Water Lily is so pretty, Diane. And that tree is so unusual. It reminds me of this tree in the next town over with a trunk that is shaped like a pig's face. I often wonder.....how and why they grow this way? These are really lovely pictures that your husband took of the Water Lily. : )

Water lilies are a favorite here, too. Love their scent, and the site of dragon flies flitting from one to another in the summer. You take such wonderful photos.

Your pictures are beautiful and of course the water lily is so SPECIAL ...I can hardly wait for ours to surface ... which will be awhile yet.. but your photos are so inspirational ... I really don’t mind the sap running out of the tree as sometimes it gives you maple syrup... It’s like a lovely spring of golden elixir ... Thanks for sharing the tile....Hugs

Right time, right place, right photographer!!! Perfect is the word ... the petals so white and so symmetrically arranged ... I am guessing it just fully opened. Do you imagine there will be many more of them in the weeks to come?

I like loop trails much better than walk out and then have to walk back. Thank you for the views along the way. But I think the water lily is a highlight. Have a fabulous weekend and thank you for stopping by my blog this week.
