Thankful Thursday

Even here in the mountains of NC we are preparing for the hurricane. We expect to get rain and wind so we need to plan on a few days inside, and it’s time to make sure we have extra food and supplies. When we were out and about today we saw lots of people that have come to the mountains to wait out the storm. We are about 350 miles from the coast here in Asheville.

The mountains are beautiful at this time of year….

or any time of year!

We’re thankful to be here and pray that everyone on the coast is safe and that the damage will be minimal.

I know everyone is praying for those in it’s path.

Are you watching the weather and keeping up with it all? We don’t have the weather channel here but we are watching the local and national news for updates in the mornings and evenings.

Here’s a map I found online to show you where Asheville is in relation to the rest of the state.

Wow I just like dreaming at those first two. There is a town to the north of me called Pisgah where they have the Old Home keep On Trucking Café, made famous as a trucker song a few decades ago.

Glad that you are preparing just in case... The weather here is summery, warm and humid. I have the AC on and it’s nearly 8 pm.

Diane, Asheville is gorgeous 365 days a year! We went for a long weekend last October. We too are watching the news to see how Florence is behaving. So far, not too badly!

Glad that you are prepared. Stay safe!! Thanks for taking the time to link up today!

Hope Florence behaves and fizzles out. I know everyone would then say too much hype, but that is always fine with me.
Stay safe.

Stay safe. It's a bad storm. Here it is in the 80s but very cloudy. We are to get the very edge of the storm this weekend.

Lovely shots of the Asheville area, Diane. Our weather has been hot, humid, and rainy off and on today with the sun blazing in between showers. Stay safe, my friend. ♥

Praying you will be safe through it all. We are just hot and humid here in Chattanooga, TN and if we get anything, it will be rain next week sometime.

Hi Diane!
I have been watching the Weather Channel non-stop for the last few days. Our cousins live in Beaufort and we are praying they don't have too much damage. They just moved there about a year ago to be near their kids. Prayers for all of you- keep us posted as to how things go there. xo Diana

Hi Diane,

I'm glad you are so far inland and hope that the damages are minimal and no lives lost during this hurricane.
Weather here was a little cloudy with sunny periods, no rain to speak of. It's a bit cooler than normal - about 16 degrees Celsius, whatever that is in Fahrenheit.
Thinking of you and hoping that you will be cozy and dry as you wait out the storm.

Beautiful scenery in that area. I hope everyone stays safe during the storm.

Hello, lovely sunset and gorgeous views of the mountains. Love the crescent moon. I have never been to Asheville, I need to add it to my list. My sister left her home in Ocean Isle NC and went to Florida. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!

you should be fine in Ashville, maybe a little rain. hope it is not a lot of rain.. glad you are safe. in 1953 we drove from Savannah to Pineville KY and the route took us through Ashville, we got loss there. each time we made the trip to and from, daddy always got lost in Ashville, he swore that my brother and I always chose that time to get in a spat in the back seat... the last time I saw your city was 1959, but I had cried so much because we left KY and moved back to Savannah, I have no memeory of it

Stay safe with all the anticipated rain! One of my closest friends moved to Asheville a few years ago, and she said that Asheville's hotels and B&B's are full with folks moving away from the storm.

We are to get rain on Monday....it is gorgeous weather here in our part of Pa. so far! There have been some flooding in places due to heavy rain recently. Like Pittsburgh when the river rose. Be safe, and we hope for the best...that the hurricane will diminish.

As the news reports continue to come in, it looks like the accumulated rain is going to be damaging, even for those inland. Continuing to pray for all those affected …. On a different subject, I like your new header!
