“Garden of Daisies” Inspiration

I have blog lists filled with the best blogs in blogland! (I actually have more than one list! lol)

Every day I am inspired by those that I visit and every day, I see something I like or want to try.

My girlfriend, Gayle at a Garden of Daisies has so many collections that I love. She collects paper dolls and you know how much I love dolls!

Here’s what I set out to ‘copy’! Linens with hand embroidery that she makes into pillows.

Here’s mine….

I found this table runner, but when I was folding it over the pillow to see how it fit, I decided I would just fold and fit! No sewing required! I didn’t want to cut it so I was going to try to make an envelope pillow case out of it anyway. So I got really lazy…I mean resourceful….and I folded it carefully around the pillow and put it on my chair to enjoy.

I have it spread out on my cedar chest.

(let the folding begin!)

A quick photo of the chair in my bedroom.

I have one more pillow that I bought at the Thrift store already made. It’s propped on the end of my baby doll crib.

So that’s what I did today. Oh, and I cleaned up the area around my sewing machine.

It was a good day….

a very good day!

Yes that is a darling blog. I love her too. I just love your vintage treasures. Love the old things more than anything new you can buy.

What a great way to dress up the pillow and keep the table runner to be able reuse at later date. Have a wonderful weekend.

I love working with old linens. If something is stained or has a hole in it, I don't hesitate to cut it up. But, if it's in good shape, it's hard.

Your pillow looks great.

Oh I recognize the highly stylized piece of the last one...don't remember the name...my mother had such a pillow in her bedroom in the 1930s. I have it and it needs rescuing. I'm wondering if yours is original or if there was a rescuer in its past. Love how you folded the dresser scarf around the pillow. That's a sweet look!

Good Afternoon Diane,
What a fabulous idea, I would never have known you had not sewn this cushion cover if you had not said so. It would have been such a shame to cut up something so very pretty.
I must try this idea.
Have a lovely weekend.
Best Wishes
Daphne

Love your Lady of Shallot picture. I also spied an Anne of Green Gables book on your shelf. I've never read those books and I recently purchased the collection for my Kindle and I'm reading the first book now.

I remember my Grandmother -my Dad's Mom- she actually embroidered until she was well into her 80's. I still have many of her pieces. Can you imagine doing that detailed work at that age? These are such beautiful treasures.
I see HEIDI on your bookshelf-my all time favorite from childhood!
Happy Hugs and a Good Weekend!

I love that song.

The condo/vacation looks fabulous and fun!

We have black squirrels here, but they look different than the one you've shown. We have some the color of Golden Retrievers too. I was amazed the first time I saw both. :)
