The Beauty of the Gulf Coast

We're discovering the 'real Florida' by going to some of my favorite places.

Most of them you'll notice don't have many people.

But this trip was taken on the weekend so a few people were there to enjoy this beautiful day.

We've driven through the small town of Ozello

and stopped close to a home with beautiful flowers in full bloom.

Now we're standing at the water's edge to look out over the marshes that will lead into the Gulf of Mexico.

I call it the ocean and my hubby shakes his head!

But whatever you call it, you have to admit it is beautiful!

The top of this mosaic is the back glass of a truck, then there's a warning sign at the boat launch and a sticker on a vehicle.

Now we'll drive back out the two lane road to civilization....

enjoying this sights as we go!

I hope you've enjoyed our trip!

Just one more before we get back on Suncoast Blvd. to head home.

It's a SIGN!

This doesn't really have a double meaning....

I saw some neat signs this week!

But if it DOES have a double meaning, it might mean that I need to get busy with something besides playing with photos.

I love to make mosaics and it is addictive.

I took this photo of an airplane during a hike at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve. There's a small airport nearby so it's a great place to see these beautiful small airplanes. So this one is 'straight out of the camera'.

And then I did a stained glass effect for Mosaic Monday.

And the next thing I know, I've made a Kaleidoscope out of it! lol I use a free version of Photoscape to edit my pics.

A few of the dogs we've seen lately. And no, they are not all rascals! The one really is named Rascal though! He's an older dog and a real sweetheart.

And the mosaic I showed last week....

is a survey marker that was in the ground next to the trail at Johnson Pond.

Our temps are in the 70s this week so it's perfect for hitting the trails.

Have a wonderful week!

We'll choose to 'Discover' this year!

My sweet hubby and best hiking buddy and I spend a lot of time talking about what we see when we hike. We can plug the cameras or computer up to the TV and view our photos. It's part of the fun of a hike. We come home, fix a snack and get a cup of coffee to enjoy our photos. We get out the identification books to help with some of our sightings.

So we put our thinking caps on and decided

'Discover' would be a good word for this year.

We'll hopefully discover some new animals, birds, wildflowers, insects, and mushrooms. We know we'll see something we've never seen before or haven't been able to identify in the past!

Oh, and there are always new trails to discover and people to meet along the way.

I hope your year brings happiness and some adventure!
