She Sells Seashells by the Seashore
Well, I haven’t ever sold any but I’ve given quite a few away over the years.
Because I LOVE to collect them!
And Canaveral National Seashore is an amazing beach to hunt for seashells.
There are not nearly as many people there and probably 15 miles or so of seashore to walk! Lots of parking areas to walk down to the beach too.
Much of the beach looks like this.
Tiny ground up pieces….
and then you’ll walk up to mounds of shells like this.
And come home with THIS! lol
We even found around a dozen pieces of seaglass this time.
Have you ever walked the beach picking up shells? It’s the best feeling in the world! Kind of like a treasure hunt!

Beach Birds at Canaveral National Seashore
We drove over to the beach with our picnic and snacks (and water)packed in the ice chest to spend the day!
And it was gorgeous! Perfect weather….80s with a light breeze, nice and cool blowing off the ocean.
We walked and walked, picking up pretty shells. (I’ll show you those later) We don’t carry a camera on the beach for obvious reasons. (we usually get WET! lol)
But hubby had his phone with him and snapped off a few pics to share. He’s been enjoying your sweet comments on his photos. (me too!)
These are Willets
and these are Sanderlings.
That’s our best shore bird ID guess!
I stood on the boardwalk and took these of a pretty seagull that flew over and then landed nearby.
I know I was ‘leaning’ looking up!
He was so nice to stop and pose for me!
He looked rather comical.
Maybe showing off for the camera?
What do you think?

A Day at the Ocean “Canaveral National Seashore”
As part of my birthday celebration, my sweet hubby wanted to take me to my MOST favorite place on earth, Canaveral National Seashore. The weather was in the 70s with light winds and abundant sunshine. So we packed a picnic lunch and headed to the beach.
There is something so calming about the sea…
It wasn’t crowded at all and there were plenty of seashells along the edge of the water.
We also drove to the Visitors center and saw some amazing sights on the Intercoastal Waterway.
Dolphins at play!
They were splishing and splashing and have a fun time!
Here’s a map to give you an idea of where it is.
Seagull
Brown Pelican
It was a fabulous day! Can’t wait to go back again soon! How many day trips do you think I can get out of one birthday? heehee!

A Drive to the Gulf Coast of Florida “Withlacoochee Bay”
I was wondering how I could use these photos in a Good Fences post!
But if you make it to the end, you’ll see I’m in good shape.
Since it’s SO HOT here in Florida, we are enjoying a few day trips.
This is only about an hour from our house so it’s an easy drive.
Looks like a lot of people put their boats in the water today!
And it’s always beautiful! We even saw some dolphins in the water but I didn’t get any good photos of them. Every time I clicked a photo, they went back down!
Oh, and did I mention a ‘good fence’?
This was on our way out to Withlacoochee Bay.
So I'm joining Tex for Good Fences!

*Dreaming of the Sea*
The summer months are not really the best time to visit the beach here in Florida. It’s hot and we have rain showers that can pop up quickly, usually with thunder and lightening. So we haven’t been to the ocean lately and I’m dreaming of the sea.
I splurged this week and bought a new book, Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I find so many books at the library and book sales that I don’t often order a book. But this is one I’ve read and enjoyed and know I will read over and over again, so I wanted a copy.
I put it on the coffee table with the old printer’s tray filled with seashells, some of my favorite finds.

Our weather forecast for the coming week:
90 for the highs, 72 for lows with a chance of afternoon showers each day.
Maybe we’ll wait another week before we head to the beach! But I can still dream!
How’s your weather this week?

‘The Surfman’ for Mosaic Monday
Looking out at the Atlantic Ocean from Canaveral National Seashore, you can be assured of seeing some beautiful scenes.
But this was a first for me.
I called him the ‘surfman’.
He came from the South and rode the waves,
paddling for all he was worth…
to arrive in front of me.
It was amazing to watch him and of course, if you know me, you know that I talked to him when he came out. He said it was a sport lots of people did right up into their 80s.
Hmmmm…I’m not that ‘old’ but I think I would have needed to start before now! lol
