Library Books

Do you have an IPAD or a Kindle? Have you ever checked out ebooks from your library?

index

I read books on my IPAD using a Kindle app and I love it! How nice to find the brand new Thomas Perry book, A String of Beads as an ebook that I could check out for 2 weeks. It’s a Jane Whitefield novel and oh, how I love this series. Jane is a Seneca Indian and I loved this character from the beginning. (I think I’ve read all of Thomas Perry’s books but haven’t updated them in Goodreads)

Hubby was sweet to check this book out of the library for me this week, too.

I was also able to check out The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up as an ebook. It has some GREAT reviews!

I’m joining Ricki Jill for Literary Friday.

Check your library’s website to see what’s available.

‘Proud to be an American’ for Good Fences

I took this photo from my side window ‘quickly’.

fenceflagIMG_5877

I always think someone may walk out and ask me what my problem is! haha! I guess I would just say, I like your flag!

fenceIMG_5879

And this bicycle sculpture was on the sidewalk next to the house so I took the photo turned around in my seat, looking back! lol

No…I wasn’t the one driving this time!

Slumber Party Fun!

Did you go to slumber parties when you were a girl? I did and I have the fondest memories.

pajamasIMG_5938

I even took my own pillow sometimes!

IMG_5935

JoAnn and I are continuing our summer sewing challenge. She sent me this fabric and we both made something with it this week. Her blog is HERE.

Visit Shelia at Note Songs. She is making doll clothes this summer too!

IMG_5929

I made little shorty pajamas this week and little pillows to match.

IMG_5927

My dollies have a pretty quilt that my sweet cousin Cindy made for them. (under their feetsies)

IMG_5934

And my girlfriend Pat made the Betsy paper dolls.

They are such fun!

IMG_5932

I even made the little fuzzy slippers following instructions HERE. Of course I changed things up a little with my own ideas. But she gave me the inspiration!

Thanks for joining me for Wednesday Wee Ones!

Pie and Coffee

Sometimes I get so hungry for dessert. I don’t eat sugar at all and limit artificial sweeteners so it’s a ‘challenge’ to enjoy dessert. Usually when I’m really hungry for something sweet, I make a piece of cinnamon toast with butter, lots of cinnamon and a sprinkle of Truvia.

IMG_5689

I love fruit and fried pies are easy to make. I decided to make 4 different fillings, apple with cinnamon, peaches and blueberries, apricot and blueberries and cherry. I squeezed a little fresh lemon in each one and added just a little water.

IMG_5685

I cooked 2 bowls at a time in the microwave for about a minute. Just enough to soften the fruit a little and heat it. Then I added a spoon full of flour and a sprinkle of Truvia…stir stir stir.

IMG_5686

I made up a pie crust with 2 cups of flour, dash of salt, Crisco and ice cold water. Then took a ball and rolled it out. Put the filling in the center, folded it over and crimped the edges with a fork.

IMG_5687

I fried them in Crisco.

OH MY…HOT and DELICIOUS!

I froze most of them! I didn’t eat them ALL!

IMG_5550

Hubby bought a different coffee bean this month and it is rich and robust. He grinds the beans for the freshest and tastiest coffee in the world.

Florida Lawn Ornaments!

I think this Great Egret looks perfect in the landscaping across the street.

egretfrIMG_2331

Don’t you?

egretIMG_2334

Well, maybe we’ll move him next door.

egretIMG_2335

What do you think?

egretfr2IMG_2339

Let’s Visit the Library!

I’ve started reading some of the best mysteries by Charles Finch.

IMG_5678

I picked up one of them at a book sale and then requested a second one from the library.

IMG_5679

Of course I had to walk up and down the rows of books and find a few more to check out, too. I love to read and have choices, don’t you?

IMG_0136

When I was leaving I noticed this cute display and took these photos with my phone.

IMG_0145

They are called Wayne Botz and I’ll just show you pics without working on them! lol

IMG_0139

Just wanted to give you an idea of how neat they were!

IMG_0149

‘Neato’ as we would have said in the olden days!

Whispering Oaks Winery for Good Fences

Let’s visit the winery again!

wsignresizeIMG_0709

I love the fence at this blueberry winery!

winefenceresizeIMG_0707

And the beautiful gate.

winefenceresizeIMG_5395

Don’t you?

winefenceresizeIMG_0712

It’s not far from us and a fun place to visit.

wfenceresizeIMG_0698

And yes, we ‘taste tested’ some wines while we were there!

DianeRIMG_0639

We liked them all!

You’re invited to a Piano Recital!

Did you take piano lessons when you were growing up? I did and I remember being very nervous at my recitals. I think I even have an old photo of myself dressed for a recital that I might sneak in at the end of this post.

gracefrIMG_5631

Grace is modeling her new recital dress.

IMG_5614

JoAnn and I are continuing our summer sewing challenge. She sent me this fabric and we both made something with it this week. Her blog is HERE. I can’t wait to see what she’s made!

grace2IMG_5622

I had the idea to make a collar and sash and drew out a pattern for the collar.

IMG_5627

And then at the last minute I thought about ‘sheet music’ and said something to my hubby. In a matter of a few minutes, he had found an image and printed it out for me. (I know, I am spoiled!)

IMG_5617

The clear glass piano box was mine as a child and I managed to hang on to it all these years.

IMG_5623

And yes, this is me at 9 years old.

Did you plant that Palm Tree?

I love seeing the beautiful landscaping here in Florida and Palm trees everywhere!

interstateIMG_9348

(even along the highways)

I was not expecting to see them growing wild though.

PalmsIMG_1323

So I think those standing out in a big field are the prettiest.

Seen through the kitchen window…

Quick, grab the camera!

I only got one photo before she flew!

She landed on the gutter of the house next door.

hawkfrIMG_1621

(I cropped and sharpened the photo)

A more common sight in Florida right now are the Nighthawks.

nighthawksIMG_2072

Dozens of them can be seen swooping and flying in the late afternoons catching flying insects! YAY!!!

nighthawkIMG_2078

It’s hard to get a good close up so I’ll show you the ID photo from Wikipedia.
