Playing with Dolls

 I play with dolls....now I've said it! Are you happy now?

Well, it makes me happy and life is too short to spend it all doing chores! I've been keeping my house tidy these past few months. I can't stand to stay inside so much and have clutter.

And I didn't want to do as much this year with holiday decorations. (I looked back at this post and this may seem like WAY too much clutter to some people! lol But everything is in place and that's what I need...pretty things all in place!)

So I decided to make a little holiday tea party on the doll's bed. I didn't even change everyone's clothes!

I did put a cute little reindeer onesie on this little doll.

These are all dolls from around 1960 and dolls just like the ones I had at the time. I bought them from a sweet lady on Etsy. I don't know how she could sell her childhood dolls but I'm happy to have them.

And my girlfriend Pat has made wooden 'paper dolls' for me over the years.

So I got out Santa...

and Mrs. Claus!

And the dolls changed their outfits. (really they did)

Have you taken time to do something just for the fun of it this week?

I'm thankful to have some toys to play with and good health and so many other things! My gratitude list is LONG!

Bring your Pillows for Wednesday Wee Ones!

The girls are having a summertime slumber party!

dDSCN2080

They have on little shortie pjs that I made and matching pillow cases.

Of course they have their pets to add to the fun and lots of books to read late unto the night.

They probably wish they had a record player too but I’ll put that on the dollie wish list!

Quilts and Dolls

I love to ‘hunt’ for quilts and dolls!

IMG_1703

And even though you probably think I go to the thrift store every day, I only go about once every 2 weeks or so. But I’ve been so lucky to find some neat things. We have the BEST thrift stores here in Florida.

I found this beautiful handmade lap quilt the last time I went.

IMG_1722

I couldn’t wait to wash it and really look at it up close.

And look what I saw!

A heart stitched right in the center.

Won’t this feel nice to wrap up in next winter!

I also found these very old paper dolls.

IMG_5430

They have patterns to make doll clothes for them. I’ve never heard of that, have you?

IMG_5433

They were tucked in their original packaging, which was kind of like wax paper.

I’m joining the Vintage Inspiration Link party HERE,

and Roses of Inspiration

and Ivy and Elephants.

Have you found anything special this week?

“Wednesday Wee Ones”

It seems like the perfect time to show some of my pretty dolls. I’ll even try to get some pics of the doll room for next week! (it’s a tea party)

GingerBreadWendy6079[3]

Wendy and Johnny wish everyone a Merry Christmas with little gingers I made years ago.

GingerBreadBoth6076[3]

Walk in my front door and you’ll see this sweet Christmas doll, Hanna (Lloyd Middleton doll).

And if you want a sneak peek at my Christmas gift from my girlfriend, Pat…

she told me to OPEN them early to play with them NOW! Thank you sweet Pat!

PMDSCN6793

She makes these adorable Paper Dolls, that are actually cut from lightweight wood.

Have you ever seen anything any cuter than these?

Are you taking time to PLAY this holiday season?

"Wednesday Wee Ones...and getting things done!"

I've been off the computer for a few days to get some things done and finish some projects!

I'm going to enjoy catching up on everyone's blogs!
I LOVE going to all my favorite blogs!
It's like opening up presents and finding something new in every one!

One little project I really enjoyed making was this little Mary Engelbreit scrapbook.

I was so disappointed to find out the magazine was not going to be available any more
and I remembered the little paper dolls I had saved and always wanted to do something with,
so I used supplies I already had and what FUN!

I LOVE cutting out paper dolls anyway! Relieves STRESS!
(and I did NOT cut my originals, I copies them on card stock!)

I even created a little pocket on the cover of the book
to store an extra doll and clothes!

The only design flaw I have is with the lace I used on the front.
I can't get it to stay on! It won't stick!
I may have to put a piece of paper instead of lace.
Or maybe copy some lace like Diane showed us how to do one time!

On this back page I have room to write something....

It's always fun to do something different!

And I LOVE paper dolls!

ENJOY! And try something new!

~~~Presents and pretties~~~
I have so many pretty things in my life....especially pretty people!
I received the most wonderful gift from my best cousin, Cindy today!
She sent me these books so that I can be more creative!
And the sweetest little children's hankie....
and if that wasn't enough....Look at the CHARM!
OH MY! I am over the MOON for my new charm!
I also wanted to show my latest paper dolls
that my girlfriend, Pat sent me for my birthday!
She sent me lots of Bath and Body goodies
and these precious dolls that she made!
When I opened the box, tears came into my eyes!
I know that sounds corny but that's how precious they are!
Thanks to all my friends and family that treat me so special
all year long! I am SO spoiled....and sentimental!
(just ask my hubby!)
"Wednesday Wee Ones"
When I say I love dolls..........I mean I REALLY love dolls!
I have a doll room full of pretty dolls!
and today I would like to share some of the older dolls I have.
I love my old children's books, too!
I bought this little girl in Mt. Dora, Florida
and she reminds me of one I had as a child!
My hubby was so sweet to put up shelves all over my doll room
so that I have lots of display space!
ENJOY!!
And remember....
Take time to PLAY!!!
