Decorating with dollies! Anything Goes?

My dollies think that 2020 brings decorating challenges! They are forced to 'make do' with what they have! So let's see what they've done this week!

Opal was all dressed in her Christmas dress (from last year) but couldn't find the Christmas balls or twinkle lights so she decorated the tree with seashells! And instead of elves, the snowmen came inside to help with the decorating!

Zeta went outside to build a snowman and decided to have a tea party in the snow!

Oh and she wore her Pajamas instead of a snowsuit.
Surely she did not wear PJs all day long...my oh my!

And Noel went to the kitchen to bake sugar cookies...in her GOWN!

But then she realized she didn't have all the ingredients to make them so she ordered a Pizza to be delivered!

And then there are the elves (or pixies as I called them as a girl) that were no help at all!

A few have even 'fallen off the shelf'!

Hope your decorating is going better than ours! All dollies are wearing clothes that I made them last year and we're still waiting for the pizza delivery truck!

I must have ORDER!

Well, I'm kidding just a little but I think we've all noticed 'changes' since we've been staying home more. I worked hard Spring cleaning at the beginning of this all. I had cleaned and taken things to donate before the pandemic. And then when we HAD to stay home, I worked even harder. And then when I did made something, I cleaned everything up just as soon as I finished. I like to sew and love to make cards and altered books. And I don't usually mind having an 'ongoing' mess while I work. But for some reason, I need order now.

One of the sewing projects I worked on was making pillow covers out of some old hand quilted pieces that I bought at a thrift store a long time ago.

I loved the old fashioned fabric and they were all 18 by 18 square...more or less.

I cut them to make them more perfectly square and then put some pretty gingham checks on the back in an envelope style.

I'm not sure I can explain how to make the envelope but I'm sure there are directions if you search online.

I try to make covers because I already have so many throw pillows. So this way the pillow fits right inside!

I am using two of them in the lanai and one on my recliner in the living room. I think they look and feel cozy and comforting.

I think I'll get my sketchbook out next and see if I can do a little sketching or watercolors. Maybe I can stand a few more things on my desk and the rest of the room can stay clean for awhile longer.

Have you enjoyed doing your sewing or craft projects these past couple of months? I need some inspiration! What are you working on now?

*Holiday Baking with Wednesday Wee Ones*

On the days I don't hike, I stay busy working playing around the house. I scrub and clean, get my laundry caught up, oh....and dress dollies!

Well, you know what they say! And I definitely don't want to be DULL!

So one day I dressed Noel in her pretty holiday dress and then made sure she had her apron and hat for her baking 'chores'. I made all of these little clothes, even the potholder, mitt and dishtowels.

I even made those gingerbread men....years ago!

And I got to meet M.A. Vessey years ago at an art show in Hendersonville, NC. She painted this Christmas scene.

I wanted to buy some little cookies but they all looked so fake! (at least the ones in my price range did! lol) So we're not sure what's in the oven but I'm sure it will be yummy! (we'll REALLY have to use our imaginations now)

So don't forget in this busy holiday season to

Take Time to Play!

Happy Halloween from Wednesday Wee Ones!

When you have a big doll collection, it's easy to decorate for every holiday!

A couple of years ago my blog buddy and doll buddy, JoAnn from Scene Through My Eyes and I got busy making doll clothes! She even sent me patterns and fabric so we had a ball creating one of a kind doll outfits! I made the little bubble dress on Opal in the photo above, and the hat!

This little outfit is crocheted and fits my Gracie doll perfectly! ( I bought it at a craft fair!)

And I made this little Raggedy Ann doll and her outfit too.

Just a few fun touches around my house for Halloween!

We don't do anything scary here!

 Wendy would CRY!!! lol

I miss the cute effects we had when Picmonkey was FREE!!!

Have FUN!!! 👻

Welcome Fall!

Fall is not my favorite season of the year but I love new beginnings!

I like the feeling of a fresh new month and a new season, don't you?

It feels like there are lots of possibilities and new things to enjoy.

One of my favorite snacks after I hike is a toasted blueberry bagel. I usually eat half but I like the top and the bottom so I slice it in half and open it up before I toast it. I opened this one backwards! lol

And it made a butterfly. I didn't even notice it until I pulled it out of the toaster!

Do you look forward to the fall season? What are some of your favorite things?

(pillow cover I made)

Making Ribbon Roses

This is something fun to do on a rainy afternoon! Let's make ribbon roses!

Every one comes out different!

And there's no perfect way to make them. I looked for a tutorial on you tube but there are SO many of them and most are SO complicated! I kept it simple and easy!

Just get a length of silk ribbon and make a long running stitch near the edge...not too near!

And then pull the thread to gather it. Tuck and twist until you like it and then go on the underside and put some stitches in to hold it together. Some of these I've even sewed a little circle of felt under them. They could be a brooch then!

You can sew them on a bag or purse or apron!

Or glue them on a card or book!

Use your imagination and HAVE FUN!

I bought my silk ribbon from Victorian Gypsy Girl. Her shop is HERE on Etsy. She has the MOST beautiful silk ribbon and fabulous prices!

I gave a card to a sweet lady at the Legacy Hospice house and it had a lavender rose on it. I forgot to take a photo of the card but she really loved it....and that was worth it all!

Being Thankful!

I am VERY thankful for all of the sweet comments on my ‘hiking series’! I’m having such fun sharing the photos with all of you.  But let’s stay home and ‘play’ today!

DSCN5741

So what’s new? I won a really cool Giveaway! Do you visit the blog, It’s a Wonderful Movie? Oh my! If you don’t, you’re missing out! She does reviews and interviews featuring some of the BEST movies! Lots of Hallmark movies and classics too! Her banner says “Your Ticket to Family Movies on TV” and it is great. She lets you know when new movies will air and even when they plan a rerun. I entered a giveaway for a movie!

DSCN5744

And lo and behold! I received TWO movies and a fun gift pack.

DSCN5747

All of it packed away in a big tin that looks like it will have an old timey movie reel inside!

DSCN5749

Popcorn, nuts and candy too!

Thanks Net! I am THRILLED!

And a quick update on decorating around the house. I really don’t do a whole lot but every year I find something ‘new’ to add. This year, I have a new Christmas lap quilt that I got at a local craft show. So I ‘dug’ through my fabric stash and found some vintage fabric from the thrift store to make a ‘new’ pillow cover.

Is this not the cutest little print?

DSCN5698

I am SO in love with it! And it will be easy to wash and put away after the holidays. (it won’t take up much room either! lol)

Have you watched any holiday movies this week? Done any sewing or crafting?

I’ll be back Saturday with my hiking series!

It’s a 2 hour hike at Blue Run Park so rest up!
