"Smell the Roses" Giveaway and important info to share!

I'll start with the important information to share. My good blog friend, Stacey at Poofing the Pillows shared the links to two organizations to donate to those in need suffering from Hurricane Harvey. Here they are...

Click HERE to go to the American Red Cross.

And click HERE to donate to the The Humane Society of the United States Animal Rescue Team.

Like she said in her post, "Every penny helps in times of crisis." Thanks Stacey!

I would like to start off the new month with a giveaway. August has been extremely difficult for us and when I am stressed....I WORK! I've done extra cleaning around the house and LOTS of crafting!

And you know when I make something 'new', I'm anxious to share it with all of you!

I'm making altered books....junk journals!

And I made this one to give away!

It's a little 'Smell the Roses' book that I cut apart and put back together.

I kept some of the original pages with quotes I liked.

And then glued papers and pockets on pretty paper.

I made tags and

included lots of plain paper for drawing and writing.

Then I drilled holes in the cover ...ahem....Hubby was nice enough to drills holes in the cover and order me some book rings.

I tied pretty ribbons and found a vintage rose to complete the book. There's still lots of room for the winner to embellish the book! Lots of fun to play with!

The giveaway is open to everyone! Just leave a comment. I've been gathering ideas AND vintage paper, etc to make more. If you have any ideas for themes let me know.

But to be entered....any comment will do!

I'm so very thankful for all of you!

"One Excuse is as good as another"

That's a famous quote! Do you know who said that? My Dad! heehee! He hated excuses and when he 'felt' one coming he would say, "One excuse is as good as another". In other words, don't give me your 'excuses'! So I'll just say, I'm sorry I haven't blogged lately and more importantly that I haven't visited any of my blog buddies.

I was in another country...one that doesn't have internet....and I broke both my wrists.....and I looked at the coo coo bird in the previous post and went coo coo. See what I mean. Lame excuses....don't you think? hahahaha!
 I'm just KIDDING!!!

I've been fine! And crafting like crazy. I've been working at my crafts like it's a regular job! But I'm doing something that's SO much fun. And I promise I'll share it soon!

So I'm ready to get back on my computer and do some visiting. What's new with all of YOU?

We are keeping everyone in Texas in our prayers this week. What a devastating week it's been for our country.

Thanks for visiting and God bless you!

The dusky blue coo coo bird

Oh, you've never heard of that one? Me neither!

Well, it was dusk when I walked over to the pond and this Little Blue Heron looked 'coo coo'! hahaha!

He went into the tall reeds and I got a better look of how blue he was.

Then he flew into the Cypress tree and I got one more when he flew away.

It was a beautiful evening to walk, always something beautiful to see here in Florida.

Beautiful Elegant Osprey

I stopped at the library pond one day this week and saw this beautiful Osprey.

He flew from the pond to the pine trees across the street.

We see Ospreys often here in Florida.

But it's still wonderful to stand out in the blazing hot sun to photograph one! heehee!

It's HOT here and we have not had the rains that Southern FL has had. We could use a little....not a lot...just a little!

Just a couple more...

after all...I did stand out in the hot sun for these!

 How's your weekend weather?

Back to School "Wednesday Wee Ones"

I've had a different kind of week! Since it's so HOT, I've taken on an extra cleaning chore every day to get my house in better shape. Maybe you do this in the winter when you can't get outside. In Florida, we do it in the summer with the fans flying! lol  But all work and no play....we can't have that!!!

I dressed dollies this week too!

I made a little 'back to school' vignette!

Noel has her book bag and a cute little plaid jumper that I made last Fall.

Isn't it funny what you see when you look at your pics! I noticed the little yellow Winnie the Pooh books are upside down. She's got a lot to learn this year!

These little dollies put on their painting smocks.

I hope my blog Sis, Linda has time to give them some art lessons this week! (I know it's HOT where you live too)

These two bookcases are filled with old children's books I've collected over the years.

They are treasures indeed!

And I found this precious little table and chairs WITH a big bowl of fruit at Hospice Thrift Store yesterday! Isn't it the cutest?

Have you found anything fun this week or taken time to PLAY?

Happy Wednesday Wee Ones!!!

Hummingbirds Hummin'

We have a few hummers coming to our feeder now but of course they don't share very well. It seems that one keeps watch from the trees and when the others come to drink, it chases them off.

But they are fun to watch! And one day I stood very still in our courtyard to photograph this pretty little female.

Of course I thought all of my photos were fabulous! haha

So I made a mosaic to share them ALL!

I even liked the one that was 'out of focus'.

The Vincas look pretty in the pots but the hummers like the Mexican Petunias and roses better. We've had rain and everything is very lush and beautiful It looks like a tropical Paradise outside.

I've been busy this week and not on my computer much.
I'll have fun visiting you all this weekend!

Do you have a fun weekend planned?
