She Challenged Me

Friends inspire us and often encourage us. But how many times does one challenge you?

Joann from Scene Through my Eyes sent me a surprise package.

It was filled with fabric and patterns. And a challenge!

She cut some of her fabric so that we both had the same fabric. She also sent me patterns just like hers.

So here was the challenge. She wrote, "I thought we could take turns picking a fabric and then making something from it for our dolls. Each would pick their own pattern/project/design and then when we were both done sewing them we could post them on the same day and see what the other had picked. I think it would be a lot of fun to see how differently or how similarly we would choose projects"

How's that for a FUN challenge?
So here's what I made and when her post is up, I'll put a link to her post.

She knew I needed a bit of a nudge to get back to sewing and this got my creative juices flowing again.

Of course getting a fun package filled with goodies was encouraging, too!

The link to her post today is HERE

Have you met a challenge lately?

Ohhh I love the pattern you picked - the pants look so cute with the band of hearts. Love the little basket of sea horses too. This is certainly a fun challenge - now I have to consider which fabric I'll pick next. I wasn't crazy about the patterns I picked this time - not because they weren't cute - cuz they certainly were cute - but they were hard to sew and didn't fit like I would have liked - I won't be using from that pattern envelope again. Love your post!!!

Hi Miss Lavender Dreams,

Sew cute - but didn't you make a sundress for Wendy? Your challenge sounds like sew much fun.

Oh Diane, this is too cute for words!!! Love every bit of it!! The white pants are so cute with the coordinating fabric, love the doll's little head scarf, and those sea horses are amazing. I just saw some real ones at the N.C. Marine Aquarium a few weeks ago. They're such fascinating creatures. I've barely learned the rudiments of sewing, and I'd love to be able to sew like you. Your friend has come up with a wonderful challenge for both of you. :)

Have a great day!

Hugs,

Denise at Forest Manor

Hi Diane! Oh, what a darling outfit for your little dolly and a great challenge with the fabric and patterns. My little granddaughter has picked up an interest in the American Girl dolls and now I'm going to start making clothes for her. I need some of those patterns! :)
Be a sweetie,

You make me miss my Grandma Patta. She made so many adorable doll clothes. She was Santa's helper making outfits for the dolls he brought me and my sisters...along with all the other little girls in the world. That's how magic she was. I see you creating magic and it makes me happy.

She is adorable. We are getting an American Girl store here sometime this year. I've only taken my daughter twice: once to California and once to Massachusetts. I love to look at them.

The challenges I have been confronting as of late haven't been any where near as fun as yours has been, but I'm facing them with all the strength I can muster. I set a goal for myself this year to learn to sew fairly well, "at least". I need to challenge myself to get busy fulfilling that goal. Your doll's outfit turned out so cute, also her little stuffies too. Very sweet! Blessings being sent your way my friend ♡
