it’s really nice to have a rainy afternoon!
It’s a little hard not to feel lazy though! The sky is dark…the mountains are engulfed in clouds and it’s cool! So nice! Hubby and I went to the library together right after lunch and decided to watch part of a documentary on Thomas Jefferson.
It’s very interesting but now it’s time to check in with all of my buddies and see what’s new with all of you! Did you have a fun weekend? Did you do anything special?
One of our favorite things to do is try a new restaurant. We drove over to 12 Bones…HERE…to pick up BBQ this weekend! We got some baby back ribs for hubby and good ole Beef Brisket for me (and enough to share with hubby!), baked beans and Key Lime Pie. I made fried okra and new potatoes to go along with it and ‘my oh my!’
It was amazing! If you think you’ve heard of 12 Bones…Obama and his wife ate BBQ there when they visited Asheville in the Spring.
And when you drive around the mountains at over 3000 ft. elevation you never know what you will see….
Look closely…..
Come back little one…..you’re going the wrong way!!
We’ve never seen this many baby turkeys together in one place!
One of the many reasons we love to travel….seeing something you’ve NEVER seen before!
There were 3 adult females and 15 fuzzy babies!
And where were the Tom Turkeys?
We saw 30 turkeys altogether on Saturday! What a DAY! And do you know what this crop is?
There are still fields of Tobacco growing here in NC!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday! What’s new with YOU? I’m on my way to visit NOW!!! : )

If you went to the 12 Bones in Arden you were about 5 minutes from my house....we have never gotten ribs there before...do they fall off the bone?
Hugs,
Penny
I would love some of those new potatoes...they look delicious and it has been ages since I had any!
The young turkeys are amazing.
My brother and his wife are turkey hunters, I guess there is no shortage of birds!
I love all your photos of your world!
I want BBQ tonight! My mouth is watering! The turkey family was adorable. Good timing!
I tried to comment on your blog over the weekend, but it wasn't working. I love your drawings, especially the sweet faces. Show us more!

Oh ribs...love them! We don't get really good ribs here like you do there. I'm going to post a scene of hay bales myself soon. Must be haying all over. What a turkey family you saw. So cute! New? Not much.
I would love to have a cozy rainy afternoon. I'm glad you're enjoying it. That meal looks absolutely delicious....well, except for me I'd leave out the meat!
Love the pics of all the turkeys. We used to see wild turkeys all around when we lived in Colorado.
It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I love seeing the pictures you post. Those turkeys were so cute.
My husband would like the baby back ribs. I love the first picture. Rain is my most favorite weather. We just don't get enough of it here, to my liking anyway.
Happy Monday.
Those turkeys were adorable! Of all places for those birds to go, they have to walk across the road. I'm glad they made it safely.
Your bar-b-que dinner looks so good, Diane! I love ribs and beans and key lime pie..yum!
This is the first time I've seen baby turkeys! There are so many of them! I think it's so wonderful how wildlife is still flourishing in many areas. I'm sure you know that Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird instead of the bald eagle?
I've never seen baby turkeys before...they are too cute!! Your dinner sure looks yummy!

Wow! That's a lot of turkeys. How cute. I love rainy days. It IS an excuse to be lazy :)
We zipped up to Minnesota Friday for a wedding on Saturday, zipped home on Sunday. It was a fun little getaway.
Hi Diane,
I love the pics of the baby turkeys. How wonderful to witness them crossing the road or walking along the side like that.
You always share the best journey's from everyday life.
The meal looks so yummy.
How was the documentary? We enjoy these films too.
Your pics are the best.
Have a great week.

Hi Diane! Your weekend looked like it was a lot of fun. Being a Southern girl, I love BBQ ribs and fried okra! Yum!!!
Aren't baby turkeys cute? Not so much when they grow up, but their mommas probably think so! LOL!!!
I always enjoy looking at your photos...you really take great ones!

Have a great week! xxxx
Very nice photos! That BBQ photo just inspired me with ideas for dinner tomorrow! :)
Hi Diane,
So you eat at the same place Obama does!

Those tobacco farm looks very interesting, I have never seen one before. Hugs..M
Thanks for the heads up on the Thomas Jefferson documentary! I am a history buff, so I'll be sure to watch it.
Last fall my hubby & I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a lecture by Ken Burns in Springfield, MA - just over our town border. Ken graduated from Hampshire College in nearby Amherst. His work is just great!!! It was a special treat to listen to him and hear his stories!
It's time for lunch and your BBQ looks so good!
