It's always a thrill to see the huge herons on the Gulf coast!
We called this Heron, Grandpa Heron! Isn't he shaggy?
My hubby took this photo!
(I mean the heron not my hubby! heehee!)
This is the same Heron...
but he is 'at alert' when someone came close!
I'm linking with Mary at the dear little red house
for Mosaic Monday! Enjoy your Monday!
And a special thanks to everyone that sent me
a birthday greeting! I sure feel special!

Out our window today, we've been watching Tufted Titmouses fly back and forth to the feeders. It would be so much fun to see those big guys. Summer can't come soon enough!
These birds are amazing.xoxoxo Thanks for sharing.
Great pictures of some of the amazing gulf coast wildlife.
Have a great week! La

Herons always fascinate me--they are fun to watch. Great pictures! Have a good week!
What beautiful pictures! I've never seen a heron like that. We have a lot of great blues and white herons, but nothing quite that dramatic. Thanks for sharing.
Cindy
Very cool photos of that Heron!
Seems like he let you get pretty close. Great shots. Such a beautiful and graceful bird!
i love the great blue herons ... magnificent!
I don't think I've ever seen photos of this bird this wonderful!!! They are simply breathtaking!!!
Grandpa Heron is very handsome!
You named this heron well, he does look like a grandpa with a long beard.
He did look a bit shabby! Great pics.
Great pics!! We always look for a blue heron that lives down on the river near here...but he is not as pretty as this shaggy fellow.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos.

Lovely photos!!
And I hear a birthday wish is in order. I certainly hope it was a good one.

That's a great shot from your hubby...not the heron... of the heron. He must have gotten very close to shaggy Grandpa to get such terrific shots.
Wow, you got some great shots of that very interesting bird!
And I will echo the greetings from
others 'happy birthday'.
Have a great week

Beautiful shots of those herons. We have them here along with the sand hill cranes. I never seem to have my camera with me when one is close enough to photograph.
Carol

Hi Diane, just gorgeous. We have these herons on our lake. They often stand on the end of our dock or walk across the backyard. They are really something.
Hope your Monday is blessed!

I love watching birds. When I grew up in Michigan we had blue herons on our lake...then when I moved to Naples, Fl we saw them there. It is amazing to me that they can live in the north and south!
Hugs,
Penny
He sure is shaggy and quite handsome in these photos! Beautiful mosaic!
Hi Diane,

Happy Belated Birthday!
Beautiful mosaic in blues and grays...and a marvelous heron!
Great photos. That heron looks all seriousness!
You're so funny, lol. I know I've told you before just how much I love our birds, but I must admit I've never seen a heron showing his shaggy side. Great photo!
He is shaggy. :) And. I am so jealous that I am not in Florida!
ENJOY!!!

Gorgeous bird...very intriguing to watch. Are you doing WIWW tomorrow? Not sure if I can make it...I will have to get up early and cleaned up and get snapping some pics if I do. My pet party was huge, and I have been so busy enjoying that..
How fun to see these beautiful birds.
Fig jam is one of my favorites and we never have it. Figs don't grow well out here in West Texas and they are so expensive at the market.
Wish I had some right this minute...with lemon peel. :))
Love that you named this little guy. The pictures are fab!!!
Nice to see sunshine that "feels" so warm. Nice capturel
That's a great photo. I often see Herons when I run by a creek in my area. Don't they look prehistoric?
Those herons are amazing! I've never seen one like the shaggy one before, how funny! We have Sandhill cranes here in Michigan, and I was lucky enough to see a huge bunch of them migrating this fall, very cool!
Loved the heron in your mosaics! I never saw one so shaggy!
How lucky to catch him at just the right moment... he's a big guy, isn't he! A great anchor for your pretty mosaic :-)
