I need your advice!
No this doesn’t have anything to do with my head being too small for my body (see my post HERE)…I’m all over that now! haha!
I’m just wondering if it is normal to get excited over a stack of old dishcloths?
I have a friend that doesn’t buy anything ‘used’ and she would tell me to save my money and buy ONE new dishcloth instead of this worn out bunch.
But they were red and a couple of them were really old (made in Portugal)…
one was homemade..
and I could soak them in Tide until they smelled fresh and clean again.
(And they were only 25 cents each!)
Is there anything wrong with being happy over old dishcloths?
I know you’ll understand!
I’m joining Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday.
and Brenda at the Cozy Little House for Tweak it Tuesday because I know she loves red dishcloths!

Sounds perfectly normal to me! But that's coming from someone who gets totally excited about old fabric found in hot stuffy attics!
Blessings
Linda
Oh no! I'd be buying those too because they are sweet...and red. :)
Nope, nothing wrong at all! And just think you are helping the environment too...why buy new, when you can recycle? Junkers invented recycling!
chris
Well, Diane, if there's something wrong with liking old textiles, then there are many others too who have the same affliction. lol Fun finds!
I say to each his own. What ever makes your heart sing do it. Apreciating the small things a blessing. One should not judge and I think you seem very happy to have these "simple treasures" Enjoy!
smiles Anna
Diane, I love your new header - are you kayaking??
Nothing wrong with the old towels - I love the look of them. I'd display them somehow.
No - there is nothing wrong with you! Those towels are very pretty. I especially love the red with the apples. Great find!
hugs,
Pat
Absolutely not there is something very right about you - and I love those wash cloths!
Good Morning,
Oh yes, I love vintage dish towels. I am always looking for them at estate sales and garage sales. I think I am drawn to the colors and patterns.I would have bought the apple one two, love the red..
The mermaid and dolphin with the little turtle is so beautiful! Such a delightful sculpture. I was pricing them in Hawaii and they can be very pricy but worth saving for. Hearth and Home would be a really fun store to shop in.
Have a sweet day in sunny FL. We were scrapping ice off our car windows this morning..LOL boy was it cold this morning.
XO Elizabeth
Diane, you are normal in My book! I would be thrilled over a find like that! All those vintage dishcloths are WAY better than new ones! They have soul. Glad you found them:) Thank you for the sweet card! I am sending you something and it's taking me longer than I thought it would:( Have a beautiful day! Twyla
Awesome! Love that red, NO there's nothing wrong with you! :-)
Absolutely not! Just a normal woman with Vintageitis!!! The original recyclers! I feel the same about them and tea towels. LOVE'em!
Ruth
Oh I love them all and of course you are normal!! I have even bought them with holes in them because they still had life left in them and I loved the colors! Great find!! hugs, Linda
I love your vintage towels. I would not want to use them, but rather decorate with these jewels.
A good dish towel is hard to find.
What a leading question...but I am pretty sure no one is going to say yes...lol.
Of course it's wonderful to recycle those beautiful cloths...what a waste not to.
I am always collecting vintage linen.
We are getting quite a stack of gorgeous linen napkins, no more paper napkins around here.
I soak them in borax, or vinegar to sterilize them..and then run them through the wash a couple of times. Love the faded, soft texture of something that has been used for generations.

Oh...you've got spam!
Look above.

Seems A-Okay to me-it's the little things in life that are important!
Have a good week.
Not a bit unusual sounding to me. I get excited over dishcloths too, and you've got some great finds here. :)
Guilty as charged. Love your treasures.
25 cents? What a deal Diane and no, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being excited about such a find (the only thing is I am really, really envious, God forgive me!).
Love the banner!!
lol...you are a certified nut! Your head is not too big for your body!!! lol I will have to go back and read that post now. :)
I would be just as excited over those particular dish cloths!!! I love red and have black, white and RED in my kitchen, and those would be perfect...you can mail them to me and I'll pay the postage...and will pay you $1 each for them. :) Deal?
lol...the joke's on me! I remember that post...and loved what you did with that doll's head...and yes, it was too small! You are a lovable nut...that's why you have so many followers!
Hi Diane
Don't see how it can be wrong if it makes you happy. Personally I would prefer a second hand Irish linen tea cloth than a bright new one. Irish linen lasts. At that price I think You have a bargain!,
Keep well
Amanda
Oh dear. It's catching, too. I see that a lot of us have caught it, including me. I'd go nuts over a pile of tea towels like that for 25¢ each. That apple one is adorable.
I'd say there was something wrong with you if you DIDN'T buy them. Score!!!
I love old dishcloths and old hand made things!! They are the best!!
Sounds like you need to join an ODA group and get some needed therapy. (Old dishcloths anonymous)Or just go out and buy some more!
No...there isn't anything wrong with you at all...I love them!! The Apples one is my favorite. Hmmmm...I think I have that apple design for machine embroidery and I have white towels with red stripes. Thinking I need to make me one for my kitchen.
Hope you are having a great day, my friend.
hugs,
Cindy
Some things are built to last, and if they are second hand then they have proved the test of time. I still have a victorian table cloth that my Great Grandma had passed down to her! It wasn't a throw away world back then. You go for it, they are beautiful! Take care. Chel
Nothing wrong with them. Your not nuts.
When I was a kid. My Mom had all kinds of them.
I wished I had been smarts and
kept them when she passed away.
As now I am married. I love things like that. Look for them all the time and cannot be seen like you have got.
Goes perfect that apple one with my new pix profile today.
You think. Ha,ha
LOL, I think you're pretty normal! I love the apples design.
I would much rather have those than any new one. I soak my vintage linens in warm water and several scoops of OxyClean powder. It is amazing what it does and it does not harm embroidery at all.
Oh I would have been doing the happy dance.
I love old over new any day.
Woolie hugss
Let me tell ya.....I have a soft spot for dishtowels. I love these! I think you are totally justified being happy about your finds. :D
If there's something wrong with you then what does that say about the rest of us? Love those old towels. They can be used for so many different things. AND they have a story! Ann
Well, Diane, if there's something wrong with you then there's something wrong with a lot of us!! I love anything that has red on it and I love those darling tea towels. I also love old tablecloths and most of them I've bought are actually too small for my table but I can't resist them. I guess there's something wrong with me for buying them! :)
Take care!
Haha... I get it! Added charm. Really, the fact that you could buy a new one is besides the point. I get excited and happy over small things- that's me. And guess, what, I have a tendency to be an optomist, and I think it rubs off :)

CUTENESS.....RED.....
I think it's perfectly NORMAL !! :)
CUTENESS.....RED.....
I think it's perfectly NORMAL !! :)
I do it all the time! It's like finding treasure when you find something vintage-y and love it.
I soak a lot of table linens in Dawn and Oxyclean with really hot water. I learned that lesson from Cindy at My Romantic Home.

Old linens are such treasures! Love 'em!
I love the older items. I think they have much more character! Nice finds!
I worry more about people who DON'T get excited over vintage towels! They're gorgeous, and a real steal at 25 cents each!
Hi, Diane: as a fellow fan of Susan Branch, you've surely already seen her blog post about her love of dishtowels? Fun! On Pinterest this morning I came across the following 'formula' for cleaning vintage linens: 1/2 gallon warm water, 1/2 cup Cascade, 1/2 cup Biz; soak as long as needed ...
Have a blessed day!

Hi Diane! I so enjoyed your post about your sister. I'm with you, old dish towels anytime! E
OMGOSH! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those dish towels! Nothing wrong with you at all! You appreciate formerly loved treasures! I GET IT! I'm in love with vintage linens and these are great finds!
Have a great week!
sandy : )
They are adorable. I think you made a great deal.. And I always say if it makes you happy... Do it...
Hugs~
Hello,
Well, there is nothing wrong with being so happy about these super trendy dish cloths.
They are lovely!
Gabriela
Is there anything wrong with wishing I'd found these beauties first? :-) Seriously... I'm thrilled for you, and there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with you! I'd have done the same thing -- except I'd have soaked them in Restoration, my all-time favorite linen cleaner I've posted about on my blog; I've even included readers' testimonials on my blog sidebar. Try it sometime!
Nothing wrong with the old ones. These are wonderful! I love the apple one, now you have to break down and use them, that's part of the fun! Much better than going to Williams Sonoma and buying an expensive new one that was made to look old.
Love em, there is something charming about gently used kitchen towels.
Nothing wrong with you! I love the older items, they have more character. Your kitchen towel selection is beautiful.
I think your towels were a real find and there would be something wrong if you didn't buy them. I always feel like a rescuer when I find old things and give them a new life, don't you?
First of I love lavendar the smell the color everthing about it:0) Very fun blog! I like new or old dishcloths as long as they are soft and don't lint.
Diane, it is perfectly logical to get excited over these cute cloths. Anybody can go find new ones to buy, but they won't be this much fun and this interesting. I'd be excited too. laurie
It is very normal to get excited over these beauties!
Why would you even have to ask?? These aren't old, they're vintage and beautiful. I'd be just as excited!!
Personally - I prefer something old any day!
Your dishcloths are adorable! I have been on a kick of cross stitching my own dishcloths lately, so I have a new appreciation :) They just make me happy. And I'll bet these make you happy, too.
Yes, I would be excited, too! Them are wonderful tea towel!! Love the apple one the most :)
Blessings,
Susie
