We drove out to the orange grove to buy oranges, grapefruit, Satsumas and to pick our own Ponderosa lemons!

Oh, how I love our Florida citrus. LOVE the lemons. I could almost smell them from here. Now I want to bake a lemon cake ...wait, I think I'll make orange chocolate ganache instead. :)

Love the lemons as well as the grapefruit. The grocery store is charging $1 per grapefruit. Too much!

I have never had a fresh picked citris anything. We get fresh colorado peaches and apples and they are so different-- much better than those shipped in. My mouth is watering.

after this weather system ruined so many california citrus crops, i'm thinking that is florida gold!
I've lived in Florida my whole life and I don't think that I've ever really picked fruit (other than off of my grandma's backyard trees when I was a girl)
Maybe I'll take my boys to do this over Christmas Break

Our puny little imports are blushing next to your lovely fruit. Imagine going to a tree and picking a citrus fruit off of it to eat? Can't...but then again I guess our apples, and soft fruit orchards here are somewhat odd for you to imagine also. You are living in the right spot, that's for sure.

My favorite part of blogging is how a photograph or words can evoke memories for me.
Nearly 40 years ago, we were in the Peace Corps in Jamaica. The "great house" next to us had a generous overseer who allowed Steve and me to bring our baskets every Sunday to walk through the orange groves and gather our weekly orange supply. They were the sweetest, juiciest oranges I have ever tasted.

Sounds like fun and looks like a beautiful area. We have citrus all around here in Southern California but I've never heard of a "Satsuma". I'll have to look that up. Never heard of a Ponderosa Lemon before either. We have some Meyer lemons on the tree in our back yard that are about the size of a grapefruit. They're the ones from last season that we haven't gotten to yet and they just got bigger and bigger. We have a whole new crop now. Looks like you have yourself lined up for lots of blogging fun with all those blogging parties. Enjoy! :-)

Your pictures made me smile. I picked a box full of Satsumas a few days ago at my motehr's house in southern Lousiiana. Her oranges are not ready, yet. I love seasonal fruit.

What a fun trip to get citrus yummies. Nothing better that fresh from the orchard. Our family usually has boxes of fruit from Florida about now. Do you have all your decorating done?

Wow! That is a big lemon. I remember when we lived in California we had lemon trees in the back yard. We didn't live there long enough to get much from them. The fruit looks so delicious. Nice photos too!

Hi namemate! I have a confession to make, I haven't seen a live orange tree in my entire life. I live in a tropical country so this type of fruit tree doesn't thrive.
