My poinsettia is as pretty as it’s ever been.
So where do you think it is?

It’s in my flower bed!
I had never seen poinsettias growing in flower beds until I moved to Florida but they do really well here and seem to come into full bloom at Christmas time.
We’ve seen some that are as tall as the houses here but I’m happy with mine this year.

Diane, that poinsettia is gorgeous! I was in Mexico City once when the poinsettias were huge, like a big arbor next to the house. Of course here we get them potted. I don't have one yet, but I'm waiting until the huge ones go on sale at Sams Club. lol The red ones are always my favorite! Have a lovely day.
It is funny to see them in a garden when I went to Jamaica they were tree size amazing. No I don't have one but I do have paper whites which you either love or hate.

That is beautiful, Diane! I love the mosaic you did too. I have a cream one this year, the first one I've bought in a long time. We're getting a major snowstorm here today so are safe and cozy in the house. Enjoy the day. In the heat. And sun. :)

Aren't the poinsettias amazing!! My Grandmother had one out by the shed that was as tall as I am and a huge bush!! Also you see the yellow centers!! I don't understand why the take those off of the poinsettias they sell in the store!!
I love all the colors of poinsettias...but the red is more Christmas to me. I have stood beside one in Cancun that was taller than me. Until then, I had not idea they could grow so tall. Yours is a pretty one,and how fun to just look outside and enjoy it. Have a blessed Sunday, xoxo,Susie
Here in Louisiana they can live ( if you call surviving living) on back porches. I kill potted ones, so I stopped buying them. But yours is lovely, and I would love to see the huge garden ones. Hugs from Linda@Wetcreek Blog
How lovely to have poinsettias growing outside in the garden. I don't get them for inside very often as I find they drop quickly with the heating system.
I love poinsettias. Many years ago, they were used to make red dyes. We do not have any this year, but they really do evoke a spirit of Christmas. Of the colors, we like the red the best. Yours are so lovely :)

Hi Diane, lucky you to have these beautiful Christmas flowers growing in your yard. I do have one, it was a gift from a friend, she bought it at Costco and it is so perfect, it looks like velvet. It is a deep beautiful red. xo
Can you say "jealous??" All of my poinsettias are plastic-- and I mean plastic, not silk. They're from the 60s-- were my mother's. Shame on me!

I had a poinsettia in my border when I lived in Melbourne, but I'm afraid that could never happen here in Scotland.
I've got one in a pot and it's a beautiful red. Just perfect for Christmas. I always have to have one on the house for the holiday.

The only time I've ever seen one growing naturally was in Kenya.It was quite the novelty for me!

I'm amazed they will bloom naturally. When I was a kid in San Diego, Grandma had me plant hers outside after Christmas. It lived for years but never bloomed again. Yours is wonderful!
None yet this year but I would probably choose a white one or pink one. I love how they grow tall in Florida. How nice to have it planted right ouside your window!

I once tried to order a pointsettia from here in southern Ontario to be delivered to my Mom and Dad who wintered in Florida. The person on the other end of the phone thought I was nuts as pointsettias could be grown in the ground in Florida. Never forgot that. Valerie
I just bought 2 poinsettias yesterday at the garden centre. I really like the variegated red & white leaves so I got both in those colours. They remind me of spatterware (is that the right word?) tin ware. I have grown these in my garden as well here in Canada! I keep the flowers going inside in sunny window, and then as soon as all frost is finished (end of May) I can pop them in the garden. They do really well here. However, I've never dug any up to bring back inside (silly of me really). Maybe I'll try that next fall. Your plant looks great! Wendy x

I've never seen poinsettias that were planted, how wonderful! You know, the poinsettia is so beautiful to me. I still have to get one, thanks for reminding me. I have seen white, pink, and blue ones here in blogland, but I must say, that my favorite is still the RED, like yours.

I don't have a poinsettia this year. Yours is lovely. I've tried growing them here, but still too cold. I did have a couple in Galveston that did well.
So nice to see a poinsettia growing in a garden. I have been gifted with two; a red one and a light pink and white one.
Ohhhhh how pretty! It looks beautifully vibrant and happy! Better than any I've seen in a pot. No, no poinsettias...yet...this year.

I only have one this year and it's red.. Last year I had many. A sweet neighbor brought me one with a Christmas Card! I've never had a yellow one..or white as they call them.
Yours is just gorgeous! Actually, aren't these a tropical plant? They really won't make it in cold weather. From Mexico etc. I think.
