February Street Scenes - A Florida treasure For Sale!

I almost gave up on this challenge. It’s easier for me to come up with beach scenes, hiking trails or walking paths at the park. But I remembered some neat photos I had taken from the car when we slowed at a stop light, while driving through Deland, a small Florida town.

(original photo, untouched)

The house looked unique.

But I saw something beautiful right there on this busy street in the overgrown yard with the ‘fixer upper’ house.

I saw a beautiful ornate gate with an old wrought iron table and chairs inside a hand painted fence.

Unexpected beauty on the trip home.

I took these photos with my little Canon S100 and cropped them within an inch of their lives!

I’m taking part in Donna’s photo challenge.

Do you want to join us? It’s GREAT fun!

Cropping...it's a good thing! What a sweet little home and probably completely representative of a former time in Florida. Wonderful flowers painted over the fence, too.

What an amazing find on that street - I would love to live opposite just to be able to look out at the beautiful art. I hope whomever purchases it doesn't paint over the flowers!

Happy weekend Diane - Mary

Oh my heavens!!! I lived in Deland, FL for over 12 years and pasted by this building (Hwy 44 at Blue Lake) for years! I believe at time of picture this was still operating as art gallery. My folks retired to FL (I got there first) to Deland, then my sister & family came down and all the rest of aunts & uncles has trickled down to Volusia County. But Oh I know Deland well!!!

I'm so glad that you didn't give up! If the challenges were all easy, then they wouldn't be challenges, right? What a neat place to find and capture! It looks neglected now, but someone put a whole lot of work and effort into creating its cottage charm. I got a kick out of your comment about cropping within an inch of their lives, LOL.

Wow, a lot of time and effort went into painting that fence and I would love a a iron gate like that in my garden.

The ornate iron gate with the painted picket fence is charming! I hope someone will come along and fix the house and yard up, it could be a very cute place!

Hello Diane
This is such a charming cottage - I would love to get my little hands on it!!
Oh the possibilities!
Such a shame it looks so neglected - I imagine someone has really loved this little house and has reluctantly let it go.

Can you remember what the hanging sign said above the porch - I enlarged your photos but I couldn't read it.

A beautiful response to Donna's 'Street Scene' challenge dear friend!

Hugs for a happy weekend in Florida.

Diane,
How special that you noticed the beauty in the fixer upper's old iron gate. This is really a pretty gate, and I noticed that you used it for your Header too. It has a very unique design.

Diane, that is such a sweet sight. I can just imagine whoever buys that house will probably paint over all of what someone loved so much that they took the time to make it their own. It's kind of sad but such is life. I think your little camera does a great job. I also use a small point and shoot Canon and am thinking about upgrading but I think these camera take pretty good pictures..Happy Weekend..Judy
