Photo Challenge Words and Letters…Time to Rest?

A couple of months ago I took a *photo of something I thought was neat before I realized what the challenge was for March.

So back to Sholom Park I went to take more photos.

benchIMG_1571

But of course that wasn’t good enough, honey went with me and we counted them!

So when it’s time for a rest, there are 48 of these benches in Sholom Park. (and several more concrete benches, too…and we may have missed a few! lol)

Made in America always makes me proud!

“VICTOR STANLEY™ begins its 51st year offering one of the finest collections of site and street furnishings in the world.

With 200,000 sq/ft. (18,500 sq/meters) of manufacturing space, our two modern factories in Maryland utilize four custom-designed state-of-the-art powder coating systems, thirteen computerized welding robots, complete in-house extrusion process for recycled slats, and automated metal- and wood-working equipment.”

Quotes from their website HERE.

So if you come to visit me, we’ll take a quick drive over to Sholom Park and walk all of the trails (which takes about an hour) and then sit on a bench to rest.

*Above…the first photo I took.

I’m taking part in Donna’s photo challenge.

Won’t you join us?

Oh my, so so pretty, love to see the flowers and greenery. Beautiful bench, wish I was sitting there, Blessings Francine.

Oh it would be lovely to sit in the sunshine there. I'm pretty sure that I need some vitamin D!

One of the most rewarding things of the photo challenges is witnessing the creativity by the participants. And you did a tremendous job with the "words and letters theme by telling a story!

Even the way you presented it was super cool, because your gradually honed in with your sequence of shots until you reveal the full name of the manufacturer. You worked the shots! (That harkens back to the "composition variations" theme last year.) Bravo, you hit a home run with this challenge!

Neat how the greenery is surrounding the benches. We certainly need to see more "Made in the U.S.A." labels!

Love how the lettering is quite unobtrusive in its location on the side of the bench - sounds like a great company and it has stayed in business a long time. With so many companies closing down their factories here and manufacturing lower grade products overseas, it's always wonderful to find 'Made in USA' on anything! We need to bring the manufacturers back - otherwise we are nothing more than a throwaway nation filling the landfills with sub-standard products that last a year if you're lucky!

OK, that's my little soapbox lecture for today! Meanwhile dear Diane, enjoyed the walk through the park with you and am hoping to do similar walks around chilly NC soon!

Happy weekend - Mary

very pretty - especially with those ferns!

That is a beautiful bench design and it sure would be nice to sit in the sun and smell the flowers for a while on one. It is milder here today but the wind is blowing so it feels colder. Enjoy your Vitamin D. :)

Hi Diane, the other day I was somewhere (I can't remember Home Depot or Lowes) and they had a bench very similar to this one. I remember checking it out and thinking how it would be a great choice for outside because it was all metal. To me that means it weathers very well, know sanding and painting every other year like wood. Just a can of spray paint every few years. I love the graphic design in these benches, but most of all I love the flowering hedges . . . It looks like you already are having spring weather in your neck of the woods:)
Have a happy weekend and thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your sweet comment.
Your blogging sister, Connie :)

Such bench reminded me of my Granny who took us to the colonial park every Wednesdays, Saturdays and often on Sundays, the latter after a matinee or concert.
Life seemed much simpler, families were spending time together and benches such as this one were the sites of countless storytelling, snack sharing and lots of hugging!
What is that phrase? 'Those were the days!'
Sounds as if that park would have been perfect for Granny, she loved to rest a moment, feel the sun and smell the flowers!

Such pretty pictures, Diane, and I'm impressed that the benches look so clean. This is a well kept park. I'm afraid if I went with you, I'd do more sitting than walking, but it looks like a lovely place to do some sitting. laurie

That is a lot of benches. It must be a lot of walking too.
They look so pretty nestled among the greenery.

These pictures are so nice, Diane. I love the pink flowers that surround the benches. This park looks so pretty with all the greenery. Sometimes I go to my favorite park nearby just to think, pray, and listen.

So nice to see those flowers. We have wooden benches in our downtown. They are from donations in memory of residents. It's nice. We also have lots of flowers planted in the downtown. Well, not now, but soon.

You had a good eye to see the words and remember them for the challenge Diane. The benches look sturdy and comfy for a rest.

A bench is something that we just take for granted, but your photos show that this is a feat of engineering and sets off the background and greenery so well. I will have to look around my way for benches, especially now that the tulips and daffodils are beginning to bloom... finally! Have a wonderful weekend. xx

Thanks so much for visiting my humble efforts this month.

Enjoying your take on words and letters. Great shot of the park bench! And a great idea.

Also love the flamingos, and the waterlilies. I reading some of your recent posts. I hadn't seen a flamingo until I went to the Bronx Zoo in New York one year while visiting my daughter! They were very beautiful, but I found them difficult to photograph and get the true color of them to come out in the photo! They seemed to be a little pinker in color, from what I can remember, than yours.
