He was at the thrift store of all places!
And I also found this wonderful old box.
Reckitt's Blue, a laundry product for the rinse cycle.
I almost didn't get it but decided to ask if they would take less. They said YES, and gave me a price I couldn't resist so I snatched it up!
Now what should I do with it?
I put it in my 'prim arrangement' and then on top of this old wooden roller skate box.
I think it gets lost up there so I'll probably bring it back down (which means asking my Knight in Shining Armor, my very own sweet hubby, to reach up there and get it back down after he just put it up there).
Would you leave the top open and put something inside of it?
Or should I leave it on top of the tall bookcase?

Diane, it is so sweet that I would want it down where people can see the pretty colors. You have such wonderful vignettes around your home!!
Wow...what a great find...you are charmed, for sure! I like the box both ways but it does show better down with the lid opened...showing off...whatever! I have no doubt you will come up with a great idea!
The knight is a cutie and needs a princess and a castle! I have old cigar boxes that my dad collected for storage. I store things in them, too, so sthe lids are closed. You have the coolest collectionn of books. Were you an Enlgish major by any chance? Enjoy your week.
I love that box!! It looks so great on your shelf. The little guy is a cutie too. :)
You find the most amazing pieces--Perfect! XOXO
One word comes to mind with an open box high above where you can reach - DUST. (o: Guess you know my answer.
Diane, I love the treasures. I would have the lid up with maybe some small fake flowers of red, white or blue in it. It's too sweet to put so far up, not to be enjoyed.Blessings for a great fun day. Love, Susie
Fun to find just the right item at a thrift shop, and for the right price!
Nice graphics! I'm not as sure about your little knight, but your real-life one is one of the best. (Oh, I like the graphics, so I'd open the box and put something~something in it. )
Well, lucky finding that little Knight in Shining Armor, he's adorable. I'd keep him right there, easy to see and admire! Love your new box, I'm crazy about them and I think whatever you do will be perfect!
Have a glorious day!

Hi,
A great find. And that was smart to ask if they would take less. I will have to do that more often. I find things I like, but do not like the price at the thrift shop.
Fun Finds!

i love boxes and baskets and any kind of jar to hold anything!! i don't even have enough crap to put in them but i still have to have them!!!!
I would leave it up there until you find something to arrange in it maybe for the 4th? You really did good on that box...it is COOL! When you said knight in shining armour, I thought you were talking about the little doll you got! LOL!
Wow you find the most amazing treasure..the little dolls are so cute xxx
I like the box in your red/white/blue vignette... Very nice!!!
I LOVE this box!! What a great find :) I would put some bright flowers in it (geraniums?) something that will bloom for a long time. Maybe red & white to match your patriotic theme going on there. Be sure to put something under the flower pots so they don't leak water all over the pretty box. That knight in shining armour is a keeper ;)
Wendy
oh...and lid UP!
Love your box! It's perfect for display and especially for the 4th coming up!! Your little knight in shining armor is adorable too! :) Happy Tuesday! xo Holly
What a handsome find for your shelf! And oh how I love your box! It's awesome! It goes so well with your Americana baskets! Sweet wee dolls!
Great finds! The box is awesome. Isn't it funny the things that survive? Fab colors for July decorating!
I would leave the top open and maybe put a raggedy doll in it and definitely bring it back down. Great box!
The box is fantastic either way - love it!!
What an interesting box Diane. I like it with your baskets and geraniums. Perhaps add some July 4th decor to it like cloth napkins and a flag? It makes a sweet vignette and is just the right colour combo for July 4th. Have fun!
I like Pam's idea of using it for 4th of July items. Love your knight!
Well, isn't he just the cutest! And that box is fabulous, my friend. You lucky girl, you :)
Thanks for joining Roses of Inspiration. I hope you're enjoying your week. Love ya!
That box is fantastic -- right away I envisioned it in a patriotic display -- great wear and colors on it!
Love all these cute adorable things.......
What finds !
I love it on the top shelf - can't it stay up AND be open?
Your knight in shining armor is the cutest - I can remember my Grandmother having a ton of those dolls as souveniers !
xox
hugs,
Linda
Oh! I would have snatched that box right up too! How perfect for a patriotic themed vignette--4th of July! I love it opened too! You find the neatest things in your travels!
xo
Linda
Love your new wooden box!! WOW!! So many treasures to hide away for a rainy day!!
I think it's too amazing to leave up so high where it's hard to see, and yes, I'd leave it open and fill it with something like yarn balls or or large pine cones. Wonderful buy, by the way!
hehehe, your knight in shining armor is too cute, Diane. And he looks very nice on your tall book shelf. You find the cutest treasures while you're out and about. And I love seeing them all. :~)

Hi Diane,
I love your little knight.. he looks perfectly happy on your book shelf.
How I remember my mother using Recketts blue - she used it to whiten the sheets..
I would love a box like that.. its a great find ..
It would be on my coffee table with my special little things inside.. my pens, a little pad, pencils, nail fial..tv batteries for tv commando.. and matches and a candle. I have another box on my coffee table with
other little things that we always seem to need.
If you keep it up the top of the bookcase. you can keep important papers in it.. but birth certificates and so on, as its vintage.. or photos.
enjoy it .. its lovely.
happy wednesday
val xx
How fun,
You really scored some awesome treasures.
Open.
Woolie Hugs
Who knew that Prince Charming lived at the thrift store! Great find, Diane, and my favorite is that wonderful box! I'd leave it at eye height so everyone will see and enjoy it, and I'd leave it open as in the first pic you have of it. What a great box. So glad you got it. Btw, you would love my library. We like the same kind of books. :-) Some of the old sets of several books I've just recently given to our daughter. All the many We Were There... and The Story Of... both sets published by Grosset and Dunlap.I'll admit I miss seeing those. They took up two long bookshelves, but I really wanted her to have them for her kids. And I only have several hundred remaining. Lol
So cute Diane. Love that box and the beautiful graphics. I like it where it is, but I'd probably open the lid to show off the inside too. Thanks so much for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.
I also vote for where it is. It brings out all of the colors in the books.
I also love dollies. Julia
I bet you were excited when you found that box, It is fabulous!!! I like it with the prim collection it just "shines" there...sorta like that cute little guy you found! Best ~ Micki
How sweet. You got some fab finds to bring home.
Oh Diane the box is so nice and I would display it for the 4th of July with your other decorations! Have a nice end of the week and weekend!
Julie xo
Hi Diane, you truly found two wonderful treasures. How special to display for the 4th of July and the little guy it just too cute.
Have a great rest of the week.
Hugs to you sweet friend, CM
The perfect hiding place for a little prince. I love your bookcase.

Diane, I love the box as part of your patriotic display. So glad you didn't pass it up -- it is a special treasure.
Debra
Love that old box and your Knight in Shining Armor. That's why I love thrift shopping, you would never find such things at Walmart ;) hugs ♡
I'm completely smitten with your old box. Those colors are just perfect for a patriotic display. Have fun decorating!
I like the first arrangement best. It shows off the box better. It looks good in the other spot, but not as noticeable.
Your little knight is so adorable, Diane!
The little guy is cute, but it is your wonderful bookshelf that has me envious. I just don't have enough room for that many. Life is often about a trade-offs and some things I'm interested in just had to go.
Oh! I think I would definitely bring the wooden box back down and leave the lid open and put some vintage silk flowers or something to match the colors of the box into it.
I love what I can see of your book collection...some of my favorite books too!
I need to come for a blog visit more often. Being a caregiver for my mother-in-law for almost two years, turned my world upside down. Even though it was almost four years ago, it was exhausting work, and the body takes time to recover and regroup thoughts and emotions. I lost touch with a lot of my blog friends around that time, but I am attempting to get back in touch with the kindred spirit connection.
Have a blessed weekend!
