Rodman Dam "Let's go Fishin"

We enjoyed watching the boats on the Oklawaha River, the kids swimming and people fishing.

And we were ready to leave when I walked out on a dock to take a few last photos.

Hubby pointed out the alligator making it's way toward the man fishing from the bank of the river.

And yes, he gathered up his stuff and was making a hasty 'escape'.

Nothing like zooming in on this big guy.

I'm so pleased with my new camera but I noticed the water looks green when I zoom in a lot.

Maybe we should plan to fish from the dock?

What do you think? Too much zoom?

 I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE.

Great pictures......my focus was on the gator, and really didn't notice the color of the water. Oh geez....glad that guy made a B-line for safer ground.

Never too much zoom when you are seeing a dangerous creature. Great photo.

hello Diane, I love the zoom and closeups. Cool gator shots. I am glad the man left, best to be on the safe side of a gator. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your critter post. Have a happy weekend!

Forget the zoom and head to the NC mountains to take lake pictures. You are quite brave. Stay off the docks, remember the scene in "Jaws" with the wife's holiday roast? Don't YOU become that roast.

Happy Weekend to you, hubby, and of course Wendy.

Yikes! Yes, please, stay on the dock and no dangling your feet in the water, either! I'm glad that fisherman was alert and spotted trouble heading his way.

Impressive! Nothing like that around here for sure.

Great sequence - love your new camera too. I am glad the man was hasty in leaving the area. The zoom is great - one can't have too much zoom, I always say. Happy fishing from the dock if you decide to fish there, dock is always safer when the alligators are around. Happy weekend my friend.

Your photos are gorgeous! The alligator would have spooked me, especially since I live in Montreal, Canada and have never seen one...yet. :)

Wow! Great shots you got! So glad the guy on the beach took notice!
Whew!

Wonderful close ups....so glad the fisherman escaped safely! I have never seen an alligator cruising around like that....I am sure I would squeal if I did! (I saw a crocodile in the zoo when I was a child and that was quite scary!)
Happy weekend, Diane.

Fish from anywhere but the bank. You have had enough drama this year. Wow, your husband has really good eyes spotting the big guy so far away. Hugs, be safe.

Nice photos Diane! That gator was planning on being sneaky and mean but the fisherman escaped which is great

Hi Diane! I'd rather fish from the dock also! And I'd rather view those alligator creatures from the zoo! It is odd to think of man being dinner instead of the alligator becoming boots! Ah well 'tis what it 'tis right! :)

Yikes, fishing from the dock works for me Diane! Enjoy the rest of the weekend Diane!

I love the zoom feature on the camera. How else can we get so close to a gator? It's so crazy to live with gators everywhere! On the boat ride to the park at Homosassa Springs State Park, we saw a gator in the water. It was great as my friend had been to Florida many times and never seen one in the wild. I'm going to share your blog with her too.

My gosh, good thing the guy decided to pack up. I'd rather see the gator big than worry about the color of the water.

Rose said...

I am glad I don't have to worry about that kind of critter around here!

Oh yes I don't think I would like to be near the water with that critter swimming around! Stay safe. Crocodiles here have taken many lives over the years but I know aligators are not the same threat - even so!
Have fun with your new camera!
Cheers,
Suzy

I knew there was a reason why I don't like getting in the river to swim, fish, or boating!! Great photo of the gator.

AAAaaaakkk!! I got scared just looking at that big thing! I don't think I would have stayed to fish either! Great photo though! Before you mentioned the croc I was thinking how serene the water looked!

Oh gosh! We don't have any of those sneaky swimmers up here...and thank goodness because I wouldn't even go near a dock if we did!!! Great photos Diane! ;) xo
