Florida Fall Foliage…Fabulous!

We took our first ‘Fall’ hike at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve this week and it was beautiful.

I know many of you don’t think about Florida having prairies but in central Florida we have a lot of different terrain. (even rolling hills!)

Many of the Fall wildflowers were in full bloom and others had tight buds on the plants.

Let’s look up close at this pretty flower!

It was one of those nice mornings that we start to have at this time of year, temps in the 70s all morning with a light breeze. Quite refreshing after a long hot summer.

It’s great to get back on the Florida trails!

I had to put off my walk this morning Diane as I dropped a pitcher on my big toe on Saturday and it is just now getting to where I can walk on it without winching!! I did not get all my steps in last week with Elliott here so I had hoped to make up this week. That may be put on hold as well!! Love the pretty pictures of your walk...does that count on my FitBit??/:)

Prairies in Florida? I had no idea. I guess we do have a habit of associating Florida with beaches and more beaches :).
The scenes from your walk are lovely. Makes me want to get out there and take a walk.

Diane, The one thing about your hikes that I really love...you show us flowers. I never think of Florida as a flower state...but I have seen many on your blog. I guess, I think fruits and palms and Spanish moss.LOL Glad you hade a fun hike. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I haven't heard of this place, will have to ask my two central FL sisters about it. I know that when we moved to FL for 3 years in the 1970s and lived in Apopka area and our nursery was in Sanford, I always wanted to go the long way between the two places, through Mt. Dora so that this mountain girl could at least see some HILLS.

Have a beautiful October week there!

Nice to see the terrain of central Florida, plain old flat where we stay. Now that hubby and I have both had our meniscal knee surgery we can explore more, and farther next year.

Florida has wonderful walking trails, too. You must be fit and trim with all of the walking that you do. And it is so lush and green. Very pretty.

I'd love to walk there Diane. It really looks beautiful. I've not walked much in the past month and it's starting to show. Every excuse in the book is used - too cool, windy or wet!! LOL Today wasn't too bad out but I didn't go. I need a place like you have there with sunshine and warmth and beauty to inspire me to get out. It's going to be a very long winter. :(

Beautiful walk! Every time I visit you I find another place I'd love to visit ( if we ever have time to get out of our corner of the state again). We won't even be back until December this year tho.
