Hiking with a Camera

Well, we don’t always set a brisk pace, but it’s nice to take time to enjoy nature.

Collages3

These were taken at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve and it doesn’t matter how many times you go, you can always see something ‘new’!

I spotted this persimmon tree with the tiniest persimmons I’ve ever seen.

Who would have thought these trees grew in Florida!

We’ve been able to get out in the mornings for some hikes but hopefully the weather will cool off even more in the week to come. We’ve had temps in the 80s, sometime hitting 90 with high humidity. Hot and oppressive but I won’t complain. It’s a great month to be in Florida.

We saw a few more deer on this hike too!

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday and

Lavender Cottage for Mosaic Monday.

What a beautiful place. Hiking and seeing persimmon trees sounds like a delight. I've never seen a persimmon tree. Are they not native to Florida?

Wow, I didn't know it was still that hot this time of year there. We're seeing frost already.

Kim is right! If you want to cool off, plan a trip to Chicago! Wonderful pictures!

Those temperatures sound divine to me Diane. LOL Shivering up here most days with the heat on. Lovely photos in your mosaics. I've never seen a persimmon or the tree before. I hope you have a nice week and that the temperatures cool off a bit for you. Hugs. Pam

Getting up early is sort of a requirement in certain Florida seasons .... But wow, it was worth it, as your pictures show. My toes are starting to feel the Oregon chill and I'm dreaming of you know where! Still too much to do and too many people to see here tho .... Next month I hope.

My husband loves persimmons and we just bought a tray of them at Costco. I've never seen them so small, Diane. Everything looks so green and lush there!

I didn't realize that persimmons grew that far South! Who knew? Well,at least not me. they look like really miniature oranges, don't they?
The scenery is the best part of hiking, I think. xo Diana

Persimmons are in our markets now. I saw some the other day. They don't grow up here because it's too cold. I don't really see what the big deal about them is. It seems like an awful lot of work to get those seeds out of there.

It sounds so hot! I hope it cools off for you soon. Those tiny persimmons are cute! You have a good eye to catch those little things.

So pretty! I don't think I've ever seen a persimmons tree.

So nice to get out in nature and enjoy the beauty! The deer in the wildflowers are so lovely. I hope it cools off for you soon. We are having a stormy week with heavy snow in the mountains, but just rain and mist here. Those persimmons would make a pretty addition to the holiday decor! Hugs xo Karen

I've never tried a persimmon (I actually just had to look it up to make sure you actually eat them -- haha!).
You have a beautiful spot to hike there, with so many beauties to take pictures of. Glad it's cooling down a little there. It's cooling down in Michigan, too! :)

Wow - some great photos - those are indeed tiny persimmons - just doll size I suspect. Hope your weather cools down a bit and hope ours warms up a bit - but we can't expect much of that for the rest of the winter.

Your pictures are beautiful! It is wonderful to get out and hike and find such lovely surprises! Those persimmons are quite small, maybe the birds have gotten the bigger ones, lol! Your mosaics of your hike are really nice... and isn't it always a joy to see wildlife as you walk! I enjoyed your post today :)

I didn't realize it would still be so hot in Florida Diane but to get out every day in the fresh air for a hike must be exhilarating - not to mention all the neat things to capture with your new camera!

I couldn't say it better...take time to stop along the way and look at the treasures nature provides. Have a great day my friend!

Hello,
You know what, I do not know what a persimmon is. Are they native to Florida? Do you eat them like an apple? I guess I better do some google searching. :-))
Great photos!
