Nautical Fashions

We’re still wearing shorts here in Florida and going bare foot! lol

So I wanted to show a little outfit I made for Holly.

IMG_6608

I decided to try my best to follow the pattern and make something close to the pattern cover. (I usually get more ‘creative’! lol)

I had all of these fabrics so that helped.

Holly thinks she is due some shiny new pattern leather shoes but she’ll have to put it on her Christmas wish list!

JoAnn and I are busy sewing Christmas outfits this month to share with you in December. She has a dollie post today too! Visit her HERE for

Hello Diane! Holly looks good in her outfit. Your rendition of the pattern is really nice. Being a doll in your house is fun.
Keep having fun enjoying Florida's sun!

You've done it again. Reminds me of the little sailor dress I made for my older daughter when she started kindergarten. I have a picture of her in the dress and I cherish that little chubby face.

A darling outfit, my friend. While you are wearing shorts and flip flops we are bundled up in boots, sweaters, and scarves {{smiles}} It was only 13 degrees the other morning....brrrr! Hugs to you!

Diane, I love those outfits...don't you think little girls should be wearing similar things? :):) Blessings for continued good weather. xoxo,Susie

Wow - you did make an outfit to match the pattern - I've been looking at that pattern for a while now - but it is cold and rainy here (maybe snow on Thanksgiving) so my dolls need to bundle up - maybe in the spring I'll make an outfit similar - but I don't have those particular fabrics. I love how summery Holly looks - she makes me feel warmer just looking at her. Lovely post - both girls are darling.

Darling! You do such a marvelous job with these lovely doll clothes. I looked at $1.97 patterns today in hopes of something good for my Shirley Temple doll and my mother's Shirley Temple. Both need a new outfit after all these years.

Hi Diane! Oh, what a darling little outfit and I love going barefoot! That's a great looking pattern too. How tall is Holly? Is she a 13" doll? She's so cute. I still haven't had time to get back to sewing and now I don't know if I will get any more outfits made before Christmas!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

The little outfit is so cute. I am beginning to see why women our age are so taken by these dolls. They are so cute and so much fun, reminds me of sewing for my little girls. I am sewing dresses for six dolls for the little girls on my list: my 3 granddaughters, though they don't really play with their dolls, my friend's two girls, and my great niece. I found a free downloadable pattern that is so cute and so easy. I cut out all of the dresses and I will sew them assembly line style. I am sorta on hold now because I need some help reminding me how use my serger that I like to use on the raw ages. I use it so seldom that I forget how to use it. I have ordered shoes for the dresses--can't remember from where, either. Here is the link for the dress: The pattern is too large as downloaded. On my Mac laptop, I just drug the pattern image to the desktop then I copied it and pasted it into Microsoft word. The image needs be 1 inch scale, so I simply reduced the size from 6.5 to 5.5. A perfect fit. It is a very simple, easy pattern. I am still trying to figure out the one dress pattern that you sent. It is such a cute dress; I just need to think about it more. I love the red outfit; it really pops!

Adorable! Holly looks like she could get a job working at an A&W drive-in restaurant. All she needs is roller skates!
