Red Shouldered Hawks and "Me"

We had a wonderful hike at the Blue Run of Dunnellon Park on my birthday.

It was 71 degrees and we walked for almost 2 hours and saw some amazing sights.

I wanted to share photos of a pair of hawks that we got to see up close.

One was right in front of my hubby when he was trying to take a photo of a Cypress tree.

(so he gets credit for this amazing shot)

Oh, and I guess he gets credit for this amazing photo too! lol

One of these days, I'm going to a fancy sportswear store and get myself a hiking outfit. I found this white linen top at the thrift store for $1 and it was nice and cool for a winter hike in Florida.

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

What's your weather like today? I hope the snow storm isn't causing problems where you live. Just stay inside and keep warm!

Great photos! No snow here thankfully. A blue sky as a matter-of-fact. I feel lucky about that.

I love hawks and all birds of prey and admire your photos. The weather here reaches 60 degrees and is alternating between sun and rain, and we need and treasure the rain.

Fabulous photos - what a treasure to be able to get a hawk so close. Since we are on the other side of the country we are getting a warm up while the east freezes. We're having quite a bit of rain - but not enough for any major flooding - just our regular WA winter rain. I saw a funny sign on facebook yesterday - it showed the temperatures across the country - with Florida being the only warm spot - and across the bottom it said today was "Hate Florida Day". We don't really hate you all - but we sure are jealous of your pretty weather, but wait until summer - you will be jealous of our lovely summers. Guess it all evens out. Glad you got to have such a wonderful hike. Enjoy the weekend.

Beautiful photos! This is a wonderful way to spend a birthday with your husband. Oh-I have seen hiking clothes at the thrift store here. My husband has some fancy pants and a shirt for hiking up the desert mountains. He said most of the people wear regular comfy play clothes. LOL! I think you are right-on to spend $1! Have a wonderful birthday year!

We have a wood working of a Cooper's Hawk and it is similar to this one. Good job with the pictures, Diana.

The hawk pictures are incredible ... What a great hike that was. Your hiking outfit looks fine and I'm jealous ;))! It's rainy here in Ft M, but I'll take that over what "up East" is getting.

Your hubby has snapped some amazing shots through the years. The two you credit him with here are wonderful. I prefer the one wearing the linen shirt for a $1!

Thank goodness we are not in the storm area. I feel so sorry for all of those people in that storm's path. Great photos of the eagles.

What great pictures of the hawks! Congrats to you both for great camera work. I too hope my blogger friends are making it through that big storm. Here in the CA mountains, the weather is cool, not cold, and it is still cloudy. We haven't seen much sun lately, which is fine with me as we always get too much of it in the summer.

Those are great photos, Diane, and how wonderful to be able to be out in short sleeves!!! As is typical for January, we've seen some cold temps, but the east coast bloggers are the ones we're all thinking about today as they're trying to dig out from the big snow.

What a huge hawk! He looks so magnificent. I am looking forward to short sleeves soon. :-)
