We expect to see a lot of birds and wildlife when we go to the Parks here in Florida.
But one day we looked up in the sky and saw this flock of cranes.
They were pretty high in the sky, but we think they are Sandhill cranes.
That's one of the benefits of living in Florida, we see tons of wildlife.
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

Nice pics! We have them late in the fall and early in the spring. Although this year, we heard some around Xmas due to our mild winter. You can't miss that sound. Have never seen one on the ground here, however.
Hi there ... sorry to leave a bit of a comment blitz!
I noticed that Eileen also had some Sandhill Cranes - I never realised how tall they are, but graceful too.
Have a great weekend
All the best Jan
How beautiful Diane !! I love these pictures. I know I can come to your blog to get some good views of beautiful birds. :)Thank you. I saw a huge amount of these cranes in the field across our road...eating something...by the time they took flight I missed them. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
p.s. Emma went to her first semi formal dance...how did she grow up so fast. Waaa.
They look a bit pre-historic, don't they? They migrate to Colorado. There was an article in the newspaper about them by the thousands being in Monta Vista, CO. They will be in Nebraska in April. I told hubby that we should go see them. It will be a huge connections of birders and birds.
Beautiful shots, Diane. I don't think I've ever seen cranes in real life.
Wonderful pictures! As Ann said, they will be here in Nebraska in the next month or so. They don't usually come as far west as I am, but they are found in abundance where my son lives...that sounds like a good excuse to go visit him again. Ha! Have a wonderful weekend!
Wow, that's a pretty sight!
When I lived in Mississippi I would see Sandhill cranes all the time. I think they are a very pretty bird.
hugs,
Linda
These are beautiful - the cranes as well as your photos of them. It must have been quite the sight! I saw Sandhill Cranes in Yellowstone, they were amazing - and so pretty.
They look so pretty flying in a "V" like that. I don't know much about the Sand-hill Crane, and that is a shame on my part, because the town just 40 miles south of us has a Sand-hill Crane festival every year. I've lived here 42 years and never went.
What a wonderful sight.
Beautiful sight x
Hello Diane, awesome flight captures. The cranes are beautiful even flying high in the sky! Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy and have a happy weekend!
Sometimes I envy your warmer weather... but then, there is the wildlife that I simply cannot get around the fear of. Alligators!!!!.. aaaaack.
How thrilling it must have been to see those cranes, isn't it wonderful what God has created! I've been watching Frozen Planet on Netflix and it is truly awesome..if you have sunshine today....please send me some!
...and I so love to hear them. They can sound like they're right next to you, but so far a distance. You can hear them long before they arrive.
Love, love LOVE these incredible flight shots Diane. Awesome. Florida...have you ever been to the everglades? I've never been, but always wish I could go. Lucky you to live in a beautiful state.
Thanks for sharing this weekend, at I'd Rather B Birdin'. All of us, the birders within us, appreciate you taking time to add your link!!
They are so neat in flight ... And I envy your ability to catch them on the Wing!
Diane, I really admire your pictures of the birds flying in action. It's not always easy to get pics of them. Today, I saw a family of geese flying above me, and I wasn't fast enough to get a good pic of them.
Have a nice weekend.
love, ~Sheri
What nice captures you got! :) And I love your bunny in the basket in the previous post...just adorable!! :)
Beautiful birds - whatever they are! LOL Love to watch them fly in formation.

Wonderful sky shots!
What a treat - I think they are my favorite. We saw flocks and flocks of them in Wisconsin in 2012 when we went back for Don's high school reunion. I had only seen one lone one before that - off its regular route, I'm sure, in northern California. Your shots are fabulous - and so many cranes. Hope your weekend is as wonderful as you. We saw Snow Geese today - and field after field of daffodils in the sunshine.
Determination....very cool captures!!
What a fabulous sight Diane, well done with your captures of them.
Diane, wow - so many cranes! They look so regal with their long graceful necks!
You are so fortunate to have such a wide variety of wildlife. Very nice capture to see so many cranes in flight.
Beautiful shots of the cranes in flight! I don't see many Sandhill cranes where I am in Florida, but I see plenty of them when I visit my daughter and grandkids in Orlando. They are everywhere and so used to people that you can get quite close to them.
They make a striking V formation, don't they?! I have never seen anything like it.
Wonderful shots! I remember seeing them up close for the first time on a Florida golf course.
They're huge!

Beautiful sandhill cranes making wonderful patterns on the sky!
Oh, I love the sound of sandhill cranes flying high overhead as they head north for the summer. And such lovely patterns too.
What a treat for you to see them... Thanks for sharing the pics so we could enjoy too.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead...
Brenda
