The Lanai, My favorite room of the house!

Well, technically it would be referred to as a Florida room or sun room. A lanai is typically a screened porch here in Florida but when we moved into this house we starting calling this room the lanai...and it stuck! lol It has windows on three sides and opens into the kitchen through French doors. It is even vented for air conditioning and heat so it's a 'year round' room.

And it's my favorite room to spend time.

Now that I use a net book or IPAD, I can sit anywhere in the house.
And who can resist the Florida sunshine streaming into the lanai?

Are you enjoying a sunny week too?

So pretty and peaceful. Not so here, bathroom demo began this morning, and I got to take the first whack - boy did that feel good.

Going right down to the studs and rebuilding, the new oval bathtub is in the garage, we laugh - life in the fast lane is having a bathtub in your garage. Giggle. This will take about 12 days and then our bedroom gets hardwood flooring and walls/ceiling get painted.

Hugs

Diane, that would be a great room to have. And if you had the regular screened lanai as well, you could call them the lanai and the lanai lanai!

Love the sunshine coming in! I have a three-season porch that faces north; no heat, no AC so it's used about ten days a year! Lovely flowers too!

Your lanai is so pretty. I could see myself curling up there with a good book. I'm hoping to sit outside to read when the weather gets warmer. Since it is going to be in the 70s here later this week, maybe then.

Yes, I think I would be in that room all the times too :) My laundry room and bedroom get lots of sunlight and I often tell my husband that I would love to make the landry room into a sun room {{smiles}}

Enjoy this wonderful day, sweet friend. Hugs!

Hi Diane, what a lovely room. You have it decorated beautifully and I can understand why it is your favorite place to sit. Florida is a lovely state and I really enjoy the tropical feel to it when I have gone there. Beautiful flowers! If ever you feel like it, I would love for you to share them with Today's Flowers :) Please don't think I am being pushy, I am not I promise. Just a thought. It is enough that you stop by and leave such a nice comment on my post. Have a great week!

I'd love to have a sunroom on the back of our house. It gets all the afternoon sun and would be lovely all year around if it is insulated. Your lanai is lovely Diane. Have a beautiful week. Hugs. Pam

Who could resist such a warm, sunny, bright area to relax and enjoy free time? It is a lovely room.

Haha, after spending many hours in the lanai in the house we rented down south, we've been thinking how we could create a Florida room on the back of our house. Unfortunately there are two tiers of deck out there so the back door is pretty high up.
I'd be spending lots of time in your bright favourite area too.

It has always looked like a wonderful, cheery, bright room. I think that I would enjoy one, too.

Just wanted you to know that I have been a long-time follower, but for some reason Blogger dropped me from your followers (I follow with google friend). I have in the past month re-followed and been dropped again. So....I've followed again and will see if you reappear in my reading list!

I never knew the difference between a Florida room, a sun room, and a lanai. They all seem pretty similar! Whatever they are called, yours is a lovely example and a great place to hang out and read.

Your Lanai is beautiful ... A great place to spend time ...I love ours (smaller scale ) too ... On days when we don't need AC or heat it can open up to the screen porch, so it's like being outdoors with all the comforts of home

I love you Lanai room, it looks like it would be such a great retreat for just about anything you plan to use it for. I have always wished of two things for this home, a basement and a room/screened in porch where I can go and just be. Neither happened, but that allows me the need then to wander outside and that is sweet too. Hugs

I would love to have a room like that! To have all the sunshine plus AC would be perfect! I always wondered what a lanai was exactly. :)
