The Purple House

Well, our house isn't really purple...it's more a lovely light shade of lavender!

This is a 'before' pic! Progress photos coming soon!

A quick pic of the guys laying sod on the side of the house, making the flower beds smaller.

So that's what's keeping us busy this month. We've had old shrubs removed, grass planted so that our flower beds aren't so wide, and new plantings are going in every day. Thanks Honey! He's planting and watering every day!

When I look at the past month, I see how much we love the outdoors and viewing nature. It will be nice to get our yard back in shape to make it easier to maintain. Then we'll have more time for hiking!

The temps will be near 90 every day this week! Summer comes early in Florida! How's your weather this week?

The same work we need to do but just putting it off. It is nicer weather here now. Finally spring, nice and warm during the day and cooler in the mornings. Have a good week Judith.

Diane, When people first put bushes in the flower gardens...I think they do not realize how big some of the plants get. Bush tend to hold moisture against a house and can cause damage. I truly hate to see over grown bushes against a house. my daughter has some that really need to come out. Your house is so pretty. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Beautiful mosaic! It sounds like a good idea to pare down the flower beds, making them more manageable. Looks like progress!

It looks so good Sis! I am lucky to have the yard done here where I live. I can add some flowers to the planting beds as I wish. Low maintenance is the life for me!

Lots of fun going on at your pretty little home, my friend :) I look forward to seeing the "after" photos.

Have a wonderful week. Hugs to you!

The yard renovation is a great idea! You'll love it. Wonderful moon shots -- you put it together beautifully. I have some similar ones that I'm saving for Thursday's post... it won't be as elegant as yours!!!

You are doing exactly what we are doing, replanting and keeping it simple. More time for travel I say! I would love to have the big beautiful gardens I love and we honestly tried but just not enough talent in my garden gene. Although my husband does have it he tries to keep is a secret:) I am looking forward to more pics of your garden beds………Love the lavender shade of the house, gorgeous.

90 every day you say....we had nice weather and are down to 32 right now and had snow flurries this morning. :-(
I sure like the light lavender of your house and don't blame you for downsizing the gardens, many baby boomers are doing this.
Have a great week lavender sis!

Diane, I didn't know your house was lavender! This is a lovely shade. Yes, it seems that you appreciate nature quite a lot, and I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy reading your blog. Nature does the body good. :)

It was such a beautiful moon last week. You captured it well. Your house looks pretty and I can see how you might want more time to be out and about and not a slave to your yard. It's going to be hot here this week too. Way too hot for April, and they say humidity rising.

I absolutely love the color of your house! It's starting to get hot up here in north Florida too. I wish spring would last just a little longer!

Yard and house maintenance can take a lot of time. It's good to minimize it as much as one can. Your house colour is unique and oh, so pretty.

You truly are a lavender woman, aren't you? Your outdoor photos are always so beautiful.

Gardening is a nice hobby but can take up a lot of time so I think you are wise to reduce your flowers beds, Diane. I only plant perennials that almost take care of themselves and don't require a lot of precious water.

Lovely mosaic - and your house is looking wonderful my dear. Good idea to simplify - and yet it is still so beautiful. Our summer is hiding someplace - we are back down to the low 50s for the high temperature - but soon - by the weekend, we should be back up nea 70 - which is near perfect for the Pacific Northwest. Oh - did your nakey dollie ever get some clothes?

Diane, your purple house is so pretty and I just love it. Looks like alot of changes going on there in the yard...you're right....it will give y'all more time to hike and travel and be outside and make pictures!! Just love the moon pictures.

Love the mosaics, and while I love the animals, the night shots are especially wonderful. We are adding more sod, too, because it is easier to mow than weed, as I wrote in the blog. Flower beds take up way too much time to tend, don't they?

Your home is lovely. Good luck with the landscape. It is fun to do over. I like all your green. It is starting to green up here in Wisconsin.

What a cute house, all over the world we're trying to go lower maintenance - here in Melbourne they would have put two houses on the block, sold one off, made some money and moved into the other - I like your idea much better :)

Beautiful photos per usual. I wish I could afford to hire yard help but it's just me myself and I! LOL! I love doing it but not so much here as the Bermuda grass drives me crazy! I will never live where they have planted it. It is one of the 10 top worst weeds for gardeners but here they plant it for lawns...ahhh...if I'd only known! LOL! Your landscaping is beautiful.
