I’ve always loved drinking water. We filter our water and that helps too.
But the secret of a better tasting glass of water is…

I buy vintage glasses at the thrift store, scrub them with hot soapy water (don’t put them in the dishwasher, it can ruin the design) and ENJOY!

Diane, When we were growing up in our big family...plenty of broken glasses. Mommy would buy the jelly in glass containers...which were actually glasses. That is all we ever had at our house. I used to have lots of pretty vintage glasses. But over the last 30 years they have gotten broken or lost. I think you are right about having a pretty glass to drink your water from. I have a plastic bottle that goes everywhere with me. It holds 20 oz. I have been drinking a lot of water with this heat.

I love swanky swigs!! So nostalgic. I have a few but use them for vases instead of drinking glasses!
Vintage glasses do make everything taste better. :) I like the striped ones because I have a set very similar to yours. I should probably dig them out of storage. We've been using plastic since the move. You've reminded me how much I miss my glasses. They were thick heavy glass and made to last a long time. You sure can't beat vintage.

Cold water tastes so good, and I love the feeling when it hits my stomach. I dislike drinking water from anything but a glass - no plastic, no mugs! I like the red flower - it looks bright and summery. Here's to water!
My mother had glasses like that! What a fun collection. Bill is always laughing at me because I leave water glasses all over the house -- at my bedside table, by the computer, by our TV Chairs, in the kitchen .... every time I want a glass of water (which is often) I seem to start with a clean glass. Maybe I should invest in some of these brightly colored ones -- so I'd notice where I put them down. (But my plain ones do go in the Dishwasher, so there's that on the plus side.)
You're right! I have a vintage "Coke" glass that is my go to for drinking water:-D
Trust you to put a new spin on encouraging the drinking of water, lavender sis! lol I usually have by my side a double walled plastic glass with a matching straw and lots of ice to keep our filtered water chilled.
However, since I'm visiting you I'd like the green and yellow flowered glass please!

I'm sure the water does taste better in those pretty vintage glasses, Diane. If I had to pick a favorite, I think I like the one with the little flowers.
Guess what I've been doing? I'm making doll clothes for my grand girls AG look alike dolls. I still haven't bought one for myself, but I really want one!! I also made some sleeping bags for them which turned out cute.

In Texas one has to have an ice machine in the fridge, or an ice maker, as we like our ice. Then there is a water dispenser on the fridge that sends out cold water on the ice....awesome!
I've heard that before...that the glass makes it taste much better...I even buy my cokes in glass bottles..tastes much better than plastic or cans.
I have just a few vintage glasses...and need many more. LOL

That is a super idea! Food and drink always taste better when served in a special way or with flair.
I love old glasses too (is that a surprise?). I always hand wash - and never mind doing it - they sparkle and the designs are so pretty. I use the heavy Swanky Swigs with watermelons during the summer - also ones with sailboats in blue and white - just perfect for cold summer water. Will I see you on Wednesday my friend?
