I think this is going to be incredibly hard to TELL…without the use of my hands! And without animation! But let’s give it a try.
A Fish Tale
by Lavender Dreamer
I made a quick stop at Blue Run in Dunnellon the other day. And I walked down to the ramp where people take their canoes, kayaks and floats to get into the Rainbow River.
I walked to the end of the ramp and took this photo.
The water was very calm and the reflections were beautiful.
Lala lala! (that’s how I live my life…in lala land!)
Something came through the water towards me…in a bee line! Rippling the water BIG TIME!
Here’s where I get animated! Water RIPPLING! Something traveling FAST through the water…STRAIGHT towards me! And before I could even react…
PLOP!!!
A FISH landed at my feet.
I pointed the camera down and this is what I saw.
OKAY…my heart is still racing and the fish, which I think is a mullet…
Flips…
and Flops…
and manages to THROW itself back in the river!
True Story
The end.
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
if she’ll have me!

how cool!
Ha ha! Good thing he got away and didn't become a fish dinner this time!
Hello, what a story. Seeing something coming towards me that fast, I would have backed up. I have seen snakes swimming fast in the water. I am glad the fish was able to jump back into the water. I enjoyed your fish tale, very cute!
Diane, That is so funny and crazy too. Did you scream or jump? I probably would have. LOL You caught a fish and weren't even fishing. :):) What a fish story girl , makes me giggle. Love it. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
First of all, that photo from the beginning is exceptionally gorgeous!! My kinda territory...I love it so.
And your fish tale....what an amazing thing to witness.
Oh my goodness...are you sure it wasn't a prince under an evil spell Diane???
So funny!phyllis
Gorgeous photo of the river and what an amazing adventure for you and great shots of the fish ~
Happy Weekend to you ~ ^_^
Yes it is a mullet. That must have been something!!!
Obviously wanted to say hello!
Maybe it was hoping for a morsel! Great capture, have a wonderful weekend :)
Only you Diane, only you!!
Hello!:) Your first photo is so beautiful, and what are the chances of a fish landing at you feet! What a good fish tail,.... oops tale.:))
That is funny and frightening at the same time!!! Aren't you glad it was only a fish???? I hear there are other things in the water down there!
This is funny and has a nice ending for the fish. This tale sounds a bit fishy. LOL, I had to say that!
Hey--Mr Fishy was just dropping by to say "HI" and thanks for visiting my world!!! Great photo of the river--
love and laughter, di
Hey and no fishing rod in sight!
Love this Diane
All the best Jan
What a surprise! I bet the fish was as startled as you!!
Being terrified of ALL FISH I would hope if that happened to me I would just have a massive heart attack, fall down, and die. Honest, I made myself look at that fish but the little hairs on my arms were standing up and I could feel getting light headed..so, you live in la-la land? That is wonderful, sure is nicer than living with my fear of fish. Have no idea where this came from, as a child I was okay with fish, would never touch one but look at me now.
So glad to be living in Weaverville, and we are getting a beautiful Publix (opening in February), and Hobby Lobby is opening at the end of the month in South Asheville........yippee.
Hugs
I would be running for my life thinking it was a gator. So strange. Funny none the less. I hope you are having a good summer.
Saved from the frying pan, LOL.
Oh my goodness, what a funny story, Diane. You don't see that very often, do you? I guess the fish wanted to say HELLO to you before managing to get back in that water hahaha. Great story, and the fact that you got a picture of it is even more special. :)
love, ~Sheri
Now that's a good fish story. Glad you thought to capture it all while it was happening. I probably would have just stood there and stared. Here comes another week - can't wait to see what you find to show us. Enjoy it all my friend.
This had me smiling, the fish that came to say hello. That's great, you told it beautifully, as did your photos. What an extraordinary happening.
Quite the bait!
OMG,,,, You had me on the edge of the couch, i was afraid it was a gator!!! I think even a fish would have scared the tar out of me!!

Hello sweet lady! Now..that IS amazing! :)
That is a once in a lifetime experience I think. Such a pretty scene
OH MY GOSH DIANE....that sounds so scary........startling!!!?? what in the world?? LOL........very very strange thing to have happen. At first I was almost afraid you were going to say " a huge alligator jumped right up at me! roaring and snapping and biting!!" ha ha ha lol Well glad it was just a little old fish and not a gator but anyway that STILL WOULD'VE been quite startling. Wonder what it meant????..........
What a strange thing to happen. Almost as if it saw you walking down towards the water and came to say hello. Probably not, but it's a nice thought.
True stories are the best.
I'll bet he'll be telling his friends about the giant creature he met for years.
Amazing that you captured it with pics! That first photo is gorgeous!
What an amazing story, Diane, and told in such a fun way! You seem to have many encounters with fascinating creatures. :)
Fish are behaving strangely recently, we read about a pike that jumped into a rowing boat.
Have a lovely new week! xx
So happy to note the fish made it back into the water.
Not something I have ever witnessed firsthand.
Thanks for your visit.
Have a Happy Week!
Peace :)
That brought a smile to my face ... better a fish than an alligator.
Amazing! I wonder if a bigger fish was chasing it.
Then it had two tales to tell when it got its tail back to school: "How I escaped to land, and back to water!"
~
I love it!! La la land is my favorite. :)
OK that is a pretty wild story! And at first I thought it was going to be something much larger!
That's hilarious! I bet it is a mullet; we see them jumping clear out of the water in our canal (just straight up and back down though)... I called them flying fish when we first were in the Canal Cottage but a fisherman friend laughed at me.
Now that is a critter of a story!!
I will say, I thought it was going to be a gator!!!
Glad it was just a fish.
xx oo

A sign? Of what? I don't believe in coincidence so there is a reason why that happened as I don't think many of us will ever experience that! Think about it and see if it relates to your life in any way. Very cool!
Mullet are good at that!!! If you have a lantern in the back of a boat at night, they will just jump in the boat, following the light! It's great fun after the first one scares you half out of your wits!!
Beautiful pictures and a great story!!
Blessings,
J
