A Nice place to live!

I guess no matter where you live, you always wonder how it would be to live a different lifestyle.

horsefarmIMG_0584

I’ve lived in a lot of very different homes in my lifetime but I’ve never had a farm or a ranch.

And I never learned to ride a horse.

(I’ve been on one a few times but I wouldn’t say I was really ‘riding’! heehee)

These all appeared to be ‘a horse of a different color’.

I wonder if any of these are tame enough for me?

So I'm joining Tex for Good Fences!

Sounds like it's time to take a riding lesson. :)

I've always wanted to ride a horse but the most I've done is a pony when I was three or four years old that I had my picture taken on. When I was a child that was the thing to do. All kids had their pictures taken on a pony. Except for my sister who was terrified and refused to go anywhere near the animal. That poor pony walking around all day hauling children up and down the street. Still I guess he/she could have had a worse life.

I've never lived on a farm either, but always wanted too. My sister owned a Quarter Horse for many years so I was at several different boarding barns a lot, and rode quite a bit. Not too sure I could do it today though! Ha! Nice photos!

Hello, never to late to learn. Pretty horses and photos.

Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

My brother had a pony when we were children, but I was always afraid it would step on my foot, so I never learned to ride.
Have a great day!

Diane, I would have loved to been able to learn to ride horses also. Now, I think that would be kind of bumping riding at my age. LOL> Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Well you know I'm a horse gal so I love your pics. Those appear to be two mini horses or very small ponies and a donkey, all beautiful.

It's never too late, you know. My Aunt is riding at 72! Put it on your bucket list.

These look more like ponies which are smaller than horses. Nice fence shots.

Those are sweet ponies and donkey! I need more experience on horseback as I was quite nervous on horseback but it can be so much fun!

I've never wanted to live out in the country. I have ridden horses but it is not my idea of fun. They say horses can sense your fear and everytime I rode, they definitely took advantage of my fear! LOL

Have a great weekend.

Hello Diane!:) Love your pony and mule shots. You wouldn't have far to fall, if you fell off one of these sweeties. I have lived in the country all my life, and love horse, but have fallen off them several times.:))

That's a donkey in the last picture, see the skinny tail and arge ears. I loved to ride when I was young.

I've been on a horse a couple times. And walked very slowly. I can barely say I've ridden either.

We live in a ranching community so I have ridden a horse a time or two during round up time. It's always quite fun :)

Have a happy day, my friend. Hugs!

I wouldn't mind living out in the country, but the few times I've been on a horse have convinced me that horses and I would not get along. Ever. Guess I'd have to have a stable boy!

i'm with you - i need a tame one, too. i've ridden, but i've never really been a rider.

Very nice looking variety of horses there with the fences. - I've ridden a horse before but mainly one's trained to ride on a "trail" and back. I'm not much of a "horse" person but I do think they are beautiful animals.

Hi Diane, Its me again. Yep the long lost lady from Oregon. I am trying to get back into this again and hopefully I can get away from the horrors of FB.
I will stop in again soon. Just wanted to let you know I'm still around.

It has been ages since I've ridden on a horse, Diane. Is the last picture a mule?

Love that long mane on the first horse. I know what you mean about "riding." More like hanging on for dear life in my experience!

We always did wonder -- that is one of the reasons we loved RVing and traveling around the country, staying in every state. We always tried to make time to walk in neighborhoods (or at least drive through them -- looking at houses, shopping in local shops -- especially for groceries.... always thinking about what it would have been like to have lived and worked and raised our family there.

Bill grew up in the country -- he never wanted to live on a farm again. I have never even been on a horse.

such a high fence. Maybe the horse is a good jumper :)

Fun photos - and fun to wonder about other ways of living. I "rode" a horse one time - on our way back to Alaska after vacation, we stopped at a friend's house and their daughter loved horses. My younger brother and I went riding with her - by brother's horse lay down right on top of my brother - I'd had enough by then - I walked the horse back to the barn. And I didn't sit down very comfortably for the rest of the car trip home - no fun!

We lived on a farm - but weren't farmers - in Kansas. We had chickens and rented the barn, pasture and stables out to horse owners. We had a big garden and the chickens would love to peck the tomatoes if we let them get nearby. And when we tried to get them back in the chicken house when a huge Kansas thunderstorm was coming they would run around in circles and act foolish and never want to go in the chicken house. That was enough "farming" for me. But it was a great place for kids to grow up and to explore.
