They are common here in Florida but that doesn’t mean we don’t get excited to see a flock of them.
When we were driving to the park, we pulled onto a side road to take some quick pics.
(and yes, there’s one in the middle of the road)
The photos need ‘captions’.
Maybe the 2 birds in the center left are saying, “Hey, I wonder if we can do that too?”
And this one, “WHOA!!! Put on the brakes!”
Another one coming in for a landing!
And why couldn’t the best photo of the day have a nice background of grass, instead of a garage door? We all wonder that at some time or another! haha
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Great photos of the Egrets... When do you head back north? We have had one of the hottest summers I can remember here on the Cumberland Plateau in TN. AND--we are extremely dry..... I'm so ready for Fall and some change in our weather.
That garage/building doesn't look like it has been used for awhile.
Hugs,
Betsy
You should have asked them to do a "re-take". Giggle.
Good morning, Diane! I always enjoy seeing the pretty Cattle Egrets. It is neat seeing a whole flock of them, you have some great captures and cute captions. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
Very cool! Take your best photo and make your own painting-- w/o the door. :)
Wonderful action photography of the cattle egrets ~
Wishing you a Happy Weekend ~ ^_^
Aren't they neat birds!?!!!
It is interesting to see how they land!
The name of the birds is intriguing - do they like to sit on the backs of cattle, or does something about them resemble cattle? Inquiring minds will look this up.
Great shots, Diane. It's so true about great shots being lessened by the background. But the birds are magnificent!
Some great pictures here but my favourite is the third one.
I like your captions too ...
All the best Jan
Great photos! Love the one with the "brakes"! LOL!
Snow Birds?
The garage door adds character to your photo. Love all the pictures of the birds. I could never get shots like those.
I am always heart warmed when I see birds in a flock. Could they have a love for family and friends as we do? Great photos!
Jane
They are amazing pics! I love that last one - garage door and all!!
Such beautiful white egrets! You got some great action shots of them. I've had my share of those "garage door" shots too ;)
Wendy
That is a great series of photos and I love your narrative. I don't get to see these birds except when on vacation. I always got excited when I saw them but if I saw this many, I would probably fall out of my shoes. My husband will tell you, it has been known to happen at such times :)
funny how we can overlook the beauty in 'common'
I enjoy seeing Cattle Egrets too. They are such a sociable species. The species is very scarce here in the UK but we see them each year in Spain where we visit an established colony that nest in a small pine plantation and where we van watch their antics.
Hello Diane!:) I don't think I have ever seen so many Cattle Egrets in one place before, half a dozen perhaps, but never such a large flock of wonderful white Egrets in flight. A spectacular sight!
I'm back!!
Enjoyed the images as I said yesterday....cattle egret are neat birds, fun to watch and have them following each other around the area....and!!! their breeding plumage.
Thank you, kindly, Diane, for stopping by I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend to add this post to the linking tool. It's always appreciated by us birders and nature lovers!!
Wow - they look very interesting, especially when landing!
Great shots....
Happy Sunday!
"Where are all the cows?"
Wow - fabulous photos. Love how you captured so many in wonderful poses. I am always wondering the same thing - how did that great picture get such a strange background. We had cattle egrets in the desert in S. California - loved to watch them in the cattle fields - they even often rode on the backs of the cattle. Funny birds. Have a great week my sweet friend.
As always, great photos.
Cute post and your header is so pretty.
this is a bird I have seen on many trips. Every time I see them I´m happy. Not sure why but I like their relationship with animals :)
i always enjoy seeing them too -- and I'm impressed that you got the 'taking of' shot -- it's beautiful even if you didn't get the background you wished.
