‘Grumbles House’ in Dunnellon, FL

It doesn’t take long to drive over to Dunnellon from my house and it gives me a chance to reach 55 mph in my car! haha! Most of the time I just drive ‘around town’ and it’s stop and go trafffic. So one day last week I wanted to get out on the hwy and DRIVE.

Dunnellontext

This is one of my favorite places to shop. They have lots of pretty new things but also antiques and consignment items.

It’s an old house so you wander through each room and then go upstairs for even more. When I first got there I saw a turtle I wanted to buy (for hubby) but thought I would look around first. Then I forgot where I saw it. The lady working there knew right where to find it though.

And I also bought something else I’ve always wanted A flower frog. I know…everyone probably has one already. But with all the thrift store shopping I’ve done, I’ve never found one. And they are usually too expensive in the Antique shops. (this one was less than $5!)

So these are my treasures! And as they say, A good time was had by all! It was well worth the drive!

Do you have a shop in your area like this? (Susie, I KNOW you do!)

I’m so happy to be linking with Mosaic Monday HERE! Won’t you join us?

While not in old houses, our little one-horse town boasts 6 antique stores on the same block on Main Street, which is also a state highway. The stores do well because of the location and the fact that there are so many of them in one location. And, of course, you always find good stuff, such as the the glass frogs. I have two that I do use to help hold stems in place. See you at Mosaic Monday later today. Enjoy your week.

Hello, yes we have many garden shops here and antique stores. I like the Grumbles House. The turtle is cute. The flower frog is new to me? Looks like you found some nice goodies! Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

So you felt the need for speed, huh? You crazy kid! I think I'd quite like to drive over to Grumbles and search out a treasure or two myself. We have a small antiques (Brocante) store in our nearest town but I never find anything there that I have to bring home with me. Yesterday we went to a vide greniers (flea market) and all I bought was a set of three small drawers to use in my craft room to hold scrapbooking supplies!
Happy MM from Normandy.

I love charming shops like that. The turtle is cute! I love flower frogs and have a collection, most of my glass one's have been thrift shop finds but under $5 at a shop is a great price! Hugs to you sweet Sis.

I have a couple of favourite shops in town and try to swing by once a month or so. There's always some little treasure or other!
55 mph? Speed demon!!

I can just imagine you roaring down the highway at 55 mph, wind blowing your hair back and pedal to the metal! Sounds like a fun outing, both getting there and finding some treasures there. We do have several fun antique/vintage shops, but I rarely get there. An outing before school begins might be a good idea.

Diane, Yes, and I love going there and finding goodies. I had a flower frog once....where did I ever put it. I used to keep vases and that frog under the sink...now I do not know where it can be. Hopped away I guess. LOL. In town driving only, really can be hard on cars. I do not think my sister Jeanie has ever driven more than 5 miles from town. LOL. I have a little leather turtle that my son in law bought , one year when he was in Florida. I should post a picture of it. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Sounds like a fun trip Diane. I am lucky in that I have many neat little shops around here. Plus a lot in nearby little towns which I love to frequent.

Have a good week.

What a great place to do some serious shopping! I love places like this but unfortunately, I don't know of any around here. A couple of weeks ago when were in TN visiting the kids, we went into an old house set up like that....saw some great things and purchased a set of darling vintage trays for my DIL. Don't break any speed limits with that Beemer, girl! :)

I tell my wife no more dust collectors. 'The house is full." But stuff keeps showing up from Amazon Prime. I don't know how that happens.

I would adore to have a home shop like that near us, full of treasures. I like your frog; did you buy the soap too? I like fancy soap.

Diane, I think we could all have such fun visiting Grumbles! Love the turtle & it's so nice to have lovely soaps! Enjoy your new week!

HI Diane! Oh, the old house looks so lovely and even more so knowing it holds so many treasures! I don't have a flower frog either. I never realized I needed on years ago when I saw them everywhere but now I need one too! :) I don't know of a place around here like that but I'll keep looking! :) Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,

Lovely place to shop. We have a few places like it, about 20 minutes or more away. Have a lovely day.

Now, I'm not at ALL familiar with a flower frog!!! Will have to google it when I finish the comment.

I bet that WAS fun. You only drive 55MPH? Geez, I must have a lead foot. lol Scary, I'm sure.

Love the frog for your husband. That is priceless. The colors are perfect.

PS...really enjoyed the raccoon post also.

Thanks for visiting with us birders this weekend.

Neat place ... And sometimes, I agree, you just have to GO! .. I remember flower frogs, but haven't seen one in years! My bouquets nowadays use those colored bead things ...or else just get stuck in a vase! I'm too lazy and too untalented to arrange them, but I love having fresh flowers.

I like the name of that thrift shop! It made me smile. The turtle is so pretty, and I don't have a flower frog either--I'm always on the lookout for one

You do know it is not easy to find those frogs these days. I bought one recently at an antique shop. Thanks for the visit to my bog. I so hope you will come again. Janey

Diane, what a sweet little turtle! And I love the name "Grumbles House"! Were the owners crabby (grumbly)? :-)

I haven't found a favorite little shop yet. I will keep looking.

What a very nice name, Grumble's House! And it looks old. Where we've moved to, "old" means the '80s'. I can't wait until cooler weather when we're going to visit St. Augustine where I can see really old buildings.

I've never had a flower frog either and I bet you will use it a lot.

That's the cutest turtle I have ever seen!

Hi Diane! you asked what I bought...ha ha ha LOL....nothing that trip---but I will go back for the bottles! DEFINETLY the bottles. They were so pretty and my photos didn't do them justice at all. Do you want me to pick one up for you? What are you up to this week? Have you been doing anything with the dolls lately? Maybe Fall outfits/scenes coming up? Enjoyed this visit to this sweet little shop....I love places like that one and could spend hours wandering around in them.

BeachGypsy said...

Heavens to Betsy!! LOL I just saw your raccoon post! Wow aren't they just the most curious precious little things!? Love the shots you got....each one better that the last. They look so smart....I wonder how intelligent they are?

Hahaha, I know you're talking about our beloved Susie's "Horton's" in her town. I think I could shop there daily, and I enjoy looking at all the treasures, especially during the holidays. This is a great shop to visit, and you ended up getting that sweet turtle for your husband......good!

Your turtle is too cute!! In the first picture, he looked VERY real!
