Probably not as many as I checked out of the library this week! haha!
Or bought in the lobby book sales…
or have in my bookcases (or on my IPAD).
But it’s a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon. And hubby and I always read at night before we go to bed.
We like to sit in the lanai after dinner and read. It’s very peaceful and relaxing.
So now let’s talk about books. I love reading series and getting to know the characters. I try to read them in order when I can but most of the time, I end up skipping around.
Hubby and I are both reading the Andy Carpenter series by David Rosenfelt. They are considered Mystery Thrillers and have a great deal of humor in them too! Perfect!
I’m reading The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party by Alexander McCall Smith. It’s one of the No. 1 Ladies Detective series. These are all WONDERFUL books and the HBO movies were fabulous too! I love the characters in these books. The main character is Precious Ramotswe…don’t you love that name?
At the same time I am reading Dreaming Spies by Laurie R. King. This is the Mary Russell series and I LOVE these books! I think I skipped this book at some point so I am going back to read it.
Other books I have and would recommend are the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear and the books by Louise Penny. Sharyn McCrumb is another favorite author.
The other books I checked out are by authors I haven’t read…yet.
So that’s what I have in my book bag this week (or on my IPAD).
If you want to see other book posts, visit Linda HERE and Terra Garden HERE. Farm Girl Sam has a list of books to read HERE. If you have a book post up today, let me know and I’ll add a link to yours too!
What are you reading this week?

If I Killed Him When I Met Him is one of my favorite Sharyn McCrumb books!! I lose all self control at the library book room where they sell books to raise money for the library!!
After spending six weeks reading (sporadically)a biography of Napoleon which was excellent, I am now reading the latest Harry Potter book. After a long difficult book I try to read something fast and fun. I have so much to read! I like to read series in order too. It makes more sense to me especially when they reference things that happened in the book before.
Hey...I have a question for you, ipad user. Do you use anything besides ibook? Just curious. I've been debating whether to go to the effort of publishing on apple's store. Their portal is supposed to be the hardest to manage...and since the Kindle format can be read on the ipad...I've seen no reason to do it.
Just thought maybe I'd get a ipad user's thoughts.
You really do have a lot of books to read. Get cracking! =D
It must be nice to reading with your hubby ♥

I just commented on your Mosaic Monday post and here is another one. You have such a great collection of good reading. I haven't been reading lately, trying to get that dollhouse done.
Diane, I have read a few series books and some great author books. I truly wish that Frank McCourt had lived much longer and written more books. I loved his writing. I read bits and pieces now...have not found many books that grab and pull me into them. My attention span is so different than when I worked. I read on my breaks at work even. Glad that you and your husband enjoying reading to relax. I am thinking of you with the storm threats out at sea...be safe. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Impressive and inviting! If you have amazon prime, you can read my little Hawaii novel "Aloha Where You Like Go?" FREE! Just click on the book cover at my blog! :) Aloha
I have been reading a lot this summer. It's so hot and staying inside with a good book is such a joy. I've been reading books on my Kindle that I check out from the library! Wow it's easy and such a great way to get a book at any time! I love series also and wish I could read all the books on my list...and I'll try!
hugs,
Linda
Wow, you must be a speed reader Diane! You've got a great collection there, that should keep you out of trouble for a few days! Haha. Thanks for the link to my post about Louise Penny. She has such a big following. Happy Reading!
Looks like you will be busy reading, my friend :) I have about 10 books by my bed that need read....maybe later on today I will find a few quiet moments to lose myself in a book {{smiles}}
Hugs to you!
Hello, you do have a lot of books there to read. I have to check out the Louise Penny books. I usually download ebooks to my ipad. Let me know you favorite, I will try to find a copy. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
So many books, so little time! I think our tastes in reading are quite similar. I love the Louise Penny books, (just 6 more days), and the Maisie Dobbs series was good, too. There are some titles in your photos that I plan to investigate! Have a good day!
Computer has been on the blink for weeks now and I have read 5 books on my Kindle. Cloudy, rainy days here. I am reading "Hidden America" by
Jeanne Marie Laskas. From coal miners to cowboys, an Extraordinary Exploration of the Unseen people who make this country work. Makes one think about how good America is despite the negative media. I will read some of yours.
Louise Penny's How the Light Gets In was one of my favorites by her! And I have all the Isabel Dalhousie books by Alexander McCall Smith but have yet to try his famous #1 Ladies Detective series. I must find some and begin.
A book lover can always dream of finishing all the good books out there! And give it a good try if we can't actually do it.
My idea of pure bliss!
I too love the Ladies Detective Agency. seriess...very much! I jotted down some of your titles to have a look at. Just now I am trying some of the 'CAt Who' series. I like the later books better than the earlier ones. My friend has almost the whole set of mysteries. I like the reference to the cats best of all. Hope you are having a tranquil day. =) I sure am...reading, of course....
Looks like some good reading ahead for you! Thank you for mentioning my post too. I'll have to check the others although Terra is one I follow already. I've been wanting to read the Anthony Doerr book for awhile now and I just got my tablet out again too. I wish I could get ebooks from the library but not here. I'm looking forward to checking out those authors and series you mentioned although I have plenty to read already! LOL! Love your book posts!
I agree...you have a lot of books there. I am reading The Lost Girls by Heather Young. it is great so far.
Thanks for the visits to my blog. Even though I live in Texas and Colorado, I am in North Carolina at least once or twice a year. my daughter and her hubby live in Charlotte...with my little granddaughter Abigail. Janey
Looks like my daughter's array of books. She always has a stack to read and they are in various places for easy access.
Look at all these fantastic books! I really admire you for reading so much, Diane. I haven't read a good book in so long. Nel is the book lover in the family, and she has a wall of books in her study. Jess loves books as well. Me.....I tend to buy the children's books hehehe.
love, ~Sheri
Goodness, that is quite an array of books.
Happy reading
All the best Jan
I am all caught up on two series by Alexander McC-S that I love -- the Precious series and the ones about Isabel Dalhousie. Wish he would write more of either or both. Also love Louise Penny and I think I've read all of hers now as well. Another series I've just gotten into is by Alan Bradley, the Flavia Deluce stories.
Also seem to be reading a lot of memoirs lately somehow -- you might like The Old Fools series by Victoria Twead (available on Kindle)....
A friend recently gave me a pin in the form of a bookworm (literally a worm reading a book); I'll probably never wear it, as I'm not much of a jewelry person anyway, but thought maybe I'd pin it on the bag I put my library books in ;>)
Howdy my friend! You and I are both definetly readers! LOL I went to the library this week too and checked out 20 something books. BUT!!--- they are not all "read" books.....quite a few were just "pretty Picture" books to leaf through. I read before bed as well...that's how I get sleepy. You got some good books there. I am finishing up The sound of Glass by Karen White. Have you tried her?---LOVE HER BOOKS!! Next I will start her new one Flight Patterns. There is just enough mystery in her books to stay interested and most of them take place in Charleston or Savannah.
oh PS.......thank you for the compliment on my fringe top...It is so very light and sheer.....perfect to wear on a hot day into chilly air conditioned places over a dress or top.Glad you enjoyed the post on the old alley...I sure love discovering new ones and walking them all!
PSSSS....missed the post before this one!! I grow purple petunias every year. They do great in full sun and the heat. I've never heard of the mexican petunias.....but they are so so pretty!! love 'em! And they have so many blooms!! Have you grown moon flowers?
What a fun post, Diane! I've never read the Louise Penny books and will have to check out Rosenfelt too. I'm finishing reading Surprised By Hope by N.T. Wright and loved Surprised By Oxford by Carolyn Weber.
Thanks sweetie for linking to my blog today; you told me in a comment you would. We like many of the same mysteries, including all of the Precious Ramotswe books and the Maisie Dobbs books. Now you have suggested another series, by David Rosenfelt, which sounds like I will like it.
Hi,
Please give me a review on All The Light We Cannot See, I picked that book up, but have not read it.
Carla
So many books, so little time. I love to read and grabbed a few of your titles. I just picked up The Glorious Heresies by Lisa McInerney, a new author to me.
Wow - a lot of books to get through. I am not reading anything this week - I have a couple on my kindle that I want to start - they are library books so I'd better get busy. Mostly I'm recuperating - still - ugh. Happy reading my dear.
Wow! That's a lot of reading right there! I am in between books right now - just finished Anne Morrow Lindbergh's diaries and don't know what I'm going to read next.....I love a good mystery! Thanks for the share. x Karen
Dearest Diane,
after this period of 'interlude' which I had to allow myself due to work reasons - the Short Lets I manage here at Tenuta Geremia, the speech about the Empress of Austria I had to prepare and to perform at the conference which was held last Saturday at Madonna di Campiglio, in our Dolomiti, some works of restoration here and the family to join and follow took me far from the pc for more than a month and a half - I'm so glad to enjoy your posts again, I've been missing you so much !
Thank you so much for all the books you mention, I'm so very interested in every kind of reading, so they're all good advices to me, sweet friend !
Hope you're enjoying your day, I'm sending my dearest love to you
Xx Dany
