A Day at the Ocean “Canaveral National Seashore”

As part of my birthday celebration, my sweet hubby wanted to take me to my MOST favorite place on earth, Canaveral National Seashore. The weather was in the 70s with light winds and abundant sunshine. So we packed a picnic lunch and headed to the beach.

There is something so calming about the sea…

It wasn’t crowded at all and there were plenty of seashells along the edge of the water.

We also drove to the Visitors center and saw some amazing sights on the Intercoastal Waterway.

Diane, I used to go to Daytona for 20 years. I have been to the cape once. I loved it. The shuttle landing strip. I know it's a half mile wide and 3 miles long. :) I love your ocean photos...I miss that smell and the seeing the shells and sand...that used to make me know how small I was in the universe. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Ahhhhh--now you have hit on my sweet spot when it comes to FL. I love that area and when we spend time in FL I love the New Smyrna Beach area...it is a little area that times seems to have bypassed on some level.
I hope you have a great rest of the weekend. xo Diana

Happy birthday! I am happy to stumble by your blog. I bookmarked this national seashore site. I am visiting our son and his wife and I see they only live 40 miles from this seashore park so my husband and I will be sure to go there when we visit soon. We lived in Delaware most of our lives and our favorite beach was Cape Henlopen for the same reasons of it being a (although state) natural park without the commercialism of the other shore areas. Looks fun, and warm. Nice Ring-billed Gull picture, an attractive gull that makes it across the Atlantic to the UK most years.

This is my idea of a perfect day [be it a birthday or not]. And a picnic lunch to boot. You really know how to live.

Love the portrait of the ring billed gull.

I also want to convey my thanks to you for sharing this with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin'....it's always much appreciated. And a belated happy birthday. Celebrate like this, at least once a week if you ask me.

I'm longing for the weather to be warm enough to go to the beach. What great shots of the birds you got, especially that pelican. Happy birthday! Do like I do and get at least two (maybe three?) days out of it.

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday! We've had an illness in the family that is serious and so I have been away from blogland for a bit. I'm so glad you had a good one and got to go to your favorite place!
