Dolphins on the Gulf Coast

As soon as we got out of the car at the boat ramp, we looked out and saw dolphins at play.

I'm not sure how many there were but at least three came up at the same time.

It's hard to take photos of them because they are only out of the water for a split second.

But hubby and I both tried out best!

It's one of our favorite sightings!

It was a beautiful day and lots of people were out on the water!

On our way home, we stopped at the Locks and this Limpkin walked right by us.

It was taking a little Sunday stroll,

so we got lots of neat photos of it.

We didn't hear it squawk today, Eileen! She has some videos on her blog of their crazy 'bird call'!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

You did pretty well with the dolphin photos. They are quick, but a thrill to see, aren't they? Hope you have a nice long weekend! Happy 4th.

I love watching dolphins play. If you use your iPhone to take pictures, you can keep your finger pressed on the button and it will take tons of pictures right in a row, so you might get a better shot of the dolphins.

Hello, I just love the dolphin sightings. One of my favorite sights to see in Florida, were the dolphins. Great captures. I like your Limpkin shots too, they are crazy loud birds. BTW, thanks for sharing my link.

Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

I've got a whacked pileated woodpecker drilling his fool head off here! I must go searching for the limpkins' call. Take a video of those elusive dolphins! 🐬

Dolphin sightings always seem magical, don't they? We don't get them around here unless they are very lost.

Oh, you saw dolphins, how delightful. They are such playful sea creatures. How funny that the limpkin walked right by you. You got some nice pictures of it.

I hope you are staying cool in that Florida heat, Diane. I'm trying to do the same here in California. : )

I never tired of seeing dolphins, but they are sooooo hard to photograph.

How cool to see dolphins like that! I'm jealous. I've seen them only in an aquarium and it's nowhere near the same thing. As usual you got some great bird pictures. Hope you have a great weekend and holiday!

Yep--I have tried to get good photos of dolphins-but like you said--they are soo fast and only come out of the water part way and only for a second--

You did fine with the dolphin shots. Like you say, they don't make it easy. As for a Limpkin, I guess they are members of the ibis family?

We went out sailing when we were in Florida and the dolphins were swimming all around us, it was so exciting and the only time that I have ever seen them in the wild.

You guys seem to be having the time of your lives!! I love reading about your adventures!!

Those dolphins are pretty sneaky. I guess one would need a "rapid fire" camera to get their pictures. You have the best life! I love driving around with you and seeing all the neat birds and other animals.

I'm late getting to visit with you, holiday company from Colorado, but want to wish you a happy week ahead and thank you for joining us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin'

Oh to see a limpkin just stroll in front of me....what a day that would be for me. Jeaslous, I am.

And I too like to watch the dolphins at play. Actually guiding the ships along the channel either in or out. They're fun to watch.
