"Smell the Roses" Giveaway and important info to share!

I'll start with the important information to share. My good blog friend, Stacey at Poofing the Pillows shared the links to two organizations to donate to those in need suffering from Hurricane Harvey. Here they are...

Click HERE to go to the American Red Cross.

And click HERE to donate to the The Humane Society of the United States Animal Rescue Team.

Like she said in her post, "Every penny helps in times of crisis." Thanks Stacey!

I would like to start off the new month with a giveaway. August has been extremely difficult for us and when I am stressed....I WORK! I've done extra cleaning around the house and LOTS of crafting!

And you know when I make something 'new', I'm anxious to share it with all of you!

I'm making altered books....junk journals!

And I made this one to give away!

It's a little 'Smell the Roses' book that I cut apart and put back together.

I kept some of the original pages with quotes I liked.

And then glued papers and pockets on pretty paper.

I made tags and

included lots of plain paper for drawing and writing.

Then I drilled holes in the cover ...ahem....Hubby was nice enough to drills holes in the cover and order me some book rings.

I tied pretty ribbons and found a vintage rose to complete the book. There's still lots of room for the winner to embellish the book! Lots of fun to play with!

The giveaway is open to everyone! Just leave a comment. I've been gathering ideas AND vintage paper, etc to make more. If you have any ideas for themes let me know.

But to be entered....any comment will do!

I'm so very thankful for all of you!

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays.

Diana, What a charming little book. I think it would be perfect for Sheri at Red Rose Alley...who is like a friend flower in our garden of life. I need to show this clever idea to my daughter Kathy. This would make a nice gift for anyone who journals. I am praying daily for the people who have been effected by the storms. I will be donating to the red cross. Thanks for the reminder. Blessings to you sweet friend, xoxo, Susie

We have seen many pictures from the devastation Hurricane Harvey has caused and my thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected. Good idea to give these links.

Sorry to hear you've had stressful times recently.
Your journal book looks fabulous and whoever wins it will be so happy with it. Please do not include me in the drawer though ...
Lovely to see all of the pictures and description of how you made it.

My good wishes to you, take care and enjoy your day

Happy September Wishes too ... well it's almost here!

All the best Jan

This is great and what a sweet giveaway. I can't wait to work on the book you sent me so don't put my name in the hat please! We are heading back home later today. It's been so emotional I'm pretty drained but it's been a blessing also. Hugs!

Well you are certainly the clever one - love what you think up to make the pretty books. My suggestion, of course, would be a book featuring some of your great bird photos. Donating to charities to help with the hurricane victims is a great way to be thankful for what we have, and for our safety. We donated the first day and know it was used to help.

I'm hoping your new month will be less stressful - but do keep on crafting, you are so very clever. Happy weekend wishes for you my dear.

What a wonderful altered book! I have never heard of such a book. Throw my name in the hat because I would like to see it. I like the idea of one featuring your birds as well. That would be so awesome.

What a pretty little book! I love it!!! I appreciate your post, too. I've been so worried about aunts/uncles and cousins in Houston, but we finally heard from them Tuesday night. They went to Oklahoma to visit one of the granddaughters in college. So happy they left town!

Feeding Texas is another great organization. Right now Texas needs our prayer and money for sure!

Diane, your junk journal looks great and I'll bet it was fun to make. So nice of you to share it! Another great organization that's helping in Harvey relief is Samaritan's Purse. They have a fantastic rating on Charity Navigator, which means more of your money gong to those in need, rather than overhead expenses.

So sad about the Harvey victims. Mother and I are donating to our local Salvation Army tomorrow. Nice giveaway. Your books look beautiful :)

Your altered book is so sweet. The rose and the ribbons add the special touch that makes this book so precious, it is perfect for a gift give away! I am sure anyone and everyone would love to have it.

Sorry to hear that you have been so stressed lately. Staying busy does help keep the stress from becoming to overwhelming and if you can create lovely craft items then that is a bonus you can really enjoy.

Have a great weekend!

Hello Diane!:) You have made a lovely journal. This charming hand crafted book will make someone very happy. I don't keep a journal, and am not at all clever at crafting, so please don't include me in the giveaway, but I had to tell you how pretty it looks.:)
