Open trails with Big views!

As much as I like to hike the side trails through the forest, the open trails can give you views of the sky.

Bald Eagle

Even then, you only get a glimpse of some of the big birds that fly overhead.

I was fortunate to see this Eagle a few days ago.

But only managed 2 photos before he was out of my view.

Florida Pawpaws in bloom along the trails now too!

While hiking with a friend this Northern Harrier flew across the trail and landed in a tree nearby.

Northern Harrier

But he didn't stay long! So again I only got 2 good photos.

Look at the tuft of white feathers on the back of his head!

I got ONE photo of this Sharp-shinned Hawk on the same day that I saw the Eagle.

Sharp-shinned Hawk

Another beautiful Hawk that flew across the trail and stopped to observe US!

Take your TIME....look around!

And no matter what....don't give up!

The photo above might turn out to be your best sighting!

Photos all taken on hikes along the Majorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway.

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’

Hello, Diane. I do pop in an out these days. Your bird photography is wonderful. How exciting it is to capture the bald eagle, especially in flight. I just finished reading the Ocala article and how nice it is to see and hear from Don. I do enjoy reading about the wildlife in Florida. The landscape is diverse and beautiful and your blog spreads that joy and beauty.

The paw paws picture-- reminded me of a book I loved in childhood- Beyond the Paw Paw trees by Palmer Brown. Maybe you read it too? Love hiking with you-- that EAGLE-- what a sight!!! They are so regal. That hawk was watching you like a hawk!--- ha ha ha LOL Have a lovely Easter my friend!! It's supposed to BE SO COLD here-- not normal Easter weather.

It was with delight that when I came across your article in the magazine a couple of weeks ago, I was able to show it to my husband and follow that up with, "She and I have been blogging friends for years!"

Hello Diane :=)
How fantastic to see and photograph so many different raptors. Your images are spectacular. The Sharp-shinned Hawk, is new to me, but beautiful in your images, as is the Bald eagle.
Have a Happy Easter Diane.
All the best.

No matter how many times one sees a Bald Eagle it never gets to be commonplace, does it?

Happy Easter Diane. Once again I envy your blues skies full of raptors. Great eagle shot. It's sunny here so i think we'll head out for a drive in the red Ignis.

Such great flight shots. The one that made me laugh (you know which one) definitely IS a dead-ringer for the ones that always turn out to be my best one. So that's why I appreciate you sharing yours.
