I like to think I'm observant but I am still surprised when I work on my photos how many 'hidden details' I've missed!
Hey, Mr. Flycatcher!
Spit out that grasshopper and eat some of these pesky gnats and mosquitoes!
And it's going to take this Osprey a long time to build a nest at this rate!
But look how interesting those wispy feathers are along the legs of this Great Blue Heron.
And this seemed like an unusual place for a mushroom to grow.
I guess it likes more light and air!
I'm going to get a little creepy now.
I took this photo thinking I was looking at a pretty plant but when I bent down to look more closely, this Green Anole jumped. I jumped too. I don't know who jumped higher! Isn't he perfectly hidden?
This poor alligator!
He has no body!
And I wasn't even sure this was an alligator until I looked at my pics!
He's trying to look like a 'knot on a log'!
How do you like this pretty little pond at Reed Bingham State Park?
Read the small sign at the bottom!
These ponds are for the kids....oh and the alligators!!!
And now to dedicate this next part of my post to my dear friend, John from John's Island HERE.
He has written me another poem dedicated to my last post and I want to share it today.
"Beneath the pines where hoofbeats roam,
Heritage Farm feels just like home.
Log cabins stand with rustic grace,
As goats and sheep patrol the place.
The Martins dart through gnats with gless,
While trails invite both you and me.
The river calls, the forest hums
Where quite peace and beauty comes.
So here's to the cabins, hooves and leaves
To Autumn dreams and golden eves!''
This is one of the true blessings of having a blog...making blog friends along the way. I know we all feel like sharing our photos with other like minded bloggers enhances our lives. John has really surprised me with these gifts of poetry. Thank you John for your thoughtfulness.

...Diane, you zeroed in on the details today. The details are what make life interesting.
The pictures are truly amazing. The view of the heron from underneath is amazing.
wild clapping and standing ovation on the poem. wow. and its perfect for that post. the rest of the post today is just plain amazing and makes me jealous. I used to enjoy finding things that were hidden when I used my long lens, then viewed the photos on my desk top and shocked at things. these are amazing and that green anole is fantastic
A poem! What a lovely gift!
I find the sun is often too bright to see screens. I like the surprise when I upload them.
The bird in flight is fantastic. Liked the alligator!!
Lovely photographs and yes, John's poems are wonderful aren't they.
Sending lots of good wishes to you, enjoy your weekend.
All the best Jan
I am always dazzled by your nature images
That poem by John is certainly a lovely gift!! Well done, John! Your photos are always wonderful and enjoyed! It was good to catch up a bit here!!
This is a great series of photos.
The flycatcher is my favorite, really great photographed, my compliments.
I wish you a good weekend.
Greetings Irma
You got some amazing photos and how fun to find little details in them that you didn't originally see. That Green Anole really does blend in well on those leaves. That's kind of funny about the pond being for kids and alligators. Of course it wouldn't be so funny if there was a incident with them.
What a great poem that is.
Hello Diane,
Wonderful nature photos, I love your Great-crested Flycatcher with the grasshopper. Awesome photo. Great captures of the Osprey and the Egret in flight. I would have jumped at the sudden movement of the lizard too. He blends in well with the leaves. The gator hides his body well. The Halloween Pennant and the Butterflies are lovely. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend.
Oh my! That opening flycatcher image is such a gift! What a lovely poem!
lovely images today, my favorites...the flycatcher and the warblers. the picture of the "alligator" is "interesting"? is it an alligator?? john's poem is beautiful, he has a gift, how nice he shares it here!!
I love your hidden images. Great photos!
Beautiful poem and pics. I especially enjoyed the Great-crested Flycatcher.
Dear Diane, your words have made my day,
A golden light in skies of gray.
Your kindness blooms, your joy runs deep—
A treasure that I’ll always keep.
To share these moments, post by post,
With friends like you—I cherish most.
So here’s a verse, sincere and true:
I’m grateful, Diane, for friends like you.
🌿 With appreciation,
John
Thanks for visiting us, enjoyed meeting you, albeit virtually! And reading your story in the OCALA magazine ('23), an old friend was once an editor there ... unsure of dates tho (Susan S.) ... and also your About Me. Am a former Floridian, Merritt Island, 23 years. The Canaveral seashore and MI Wildlife Refuge also favorites ...Micanopy, Mt Dora ... many areas near you, so lovely (horse country!). No wonder you love hiking, that area is made for it! I scrolled through many posts, like a walk down memory lane ... thank you ...
The first one looks "funny"!
WHAT?! Kids and alligators sharing a pond?!
What a wonderful pressie you got with that poem!
Happy weekend to you! Hugs
I love all the hidden details in these pics. Have a good week, Diane.
Great photos. I wouldn't let my great nieces near that pond . :)
Wonderful photos and captions!
What a fantastic post! I completely relate to finding all those hidden details in photos after the fact. I definitely wouldn't have spotted that alligator either!
I did not know what a Green Anole was, but as I studied your photo, I figured it out! What an amazing what to hide!
The gator without a body -- how clever was that?!!
It's interesting what you discovered about your photo subjects later, while examining the pictures more closely.
Very interesting observations, and how good of your friend to share his poetry with you!
Your series of photos are awesome and filled with details ~ Wow!
love John's poem ~ so creative ~
and still reflecting on kids and alligators in the pond??? ~ hugs,
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I love your photos!!! And the way you describe them!
What a fun post with a bit of humor, and fantastic photos.
Those are all wonderful photos and that alligator is mostly in hiding LOL!
How fun to later discover hidden treasures in your photos!
Oooh those gators are craftly and SLY! They've invade a lake near here and I wish they could move them on somewhere else. Great shots!
Loved all the pictures, especially that LAST ONE, WOW! Are y'all off to an adventure, or staying closer to home now that it's so HOT out? Merry 4th of July my friend. Stay safe and stay cool.
Oh Diane, you really DID pay attention to all the little details! 😊 (By the way, that happens to me, too – sometimes I only notice details after taking the photo. Like a butterfly sitting on a thistle bloom… but the tiny ant right next to it? That one only shows up in the photo! 📸)
Mr. Flycatcher looks absolutely adorable with his oversized snack in his beak – even if it's not a fly! I suppose those pesky gnats and mosquitoes just don’t have enough nutrition – not for him, and certainly not for the babies...
That green anole is so well-camouflaged – I would’ve jumped too! And is that “ponds for kids” sign really meant seriously?! 😳 If there’s even a slight chance of alligators showing up, I’d say: nope! Luckily, the second sign gives a proper warning…
The Halloween Pennant dragonfly is especially beautiful – and the poem John sent you is truly lovely. What a delightful gift!
Warmest wishes from Austria,
Traude

I don't know if sending my comment worked... just to be on the safe side - I try it again:

Happy Independence Day! Stay cool and sparkly.
También me gustan los detalles, pero alguno se me escapa y me encanta encontrarlos tranquilamente en casa. Tus fotografías y el poema me parecen preciosos. Besos.
