Dotted Horsemint is in full bloom right now.
It's not only beautiful, it's smells amazing!
You can see why it's called 'dotted' when you look closely.
This is what a big stand of it looks like!
So does that have anything to do with horses?
I did a search and the only reference I saw was the fact that it has an aromatic beneficial phenol thymol and is used medicinally for horses and humans.
I went back over some of the photos I've taken of horses at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve.
The preserve shares a common fence with a horse farm so it's a good place to see horses.
There are trails on the preserve for horses too.
Our wildflowers are going crazy right now.
They are everywhere in abundance along with a beautiful variety of butterflies and moths.
Our temps for every day this week...high at right around 90, low 70. The humidity is not as bad and there are nice breezes every day so I won't complain! Typical for this part of Florida in September!
Does it feel more like Fall at your house?

What a beautiful series of photos!
I love the speckled mint.
The butterflies are also gorgeous.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
Greetings Irma
Gorgeous flowers! The butterflies are beautiful as well.
Autumn is near as cooler temps are taking over here in Vermont.
...Diane, this is such a beautiful post, thanks for sharing.
I've never heard of horse mint, but it sure has beautiful blooms. Enjoyed seeing the horses and butterflies are always a favorite.
So neat to see the pretty horses and wow that horsemint flower is gorgeous! I've never seen that before, it so fluffy and a pretty color. I guess we don't have those growing here-- I'm always looking at wildflowers and making pictures of them. I have a picture on my blog last week of wildflowers with little yellow blooms, I'm wondering if you know what those might be? Not the goldenrod. MERRY WEEKEND! 🌹 🌻 💐 🪴 🌱 🌿 🌾 🌻 🌷 🌱 🌿 🌾 🦋 🐦 🦜 🦚
Gorgeous flowers and butterflies!!

I LOVE seeing the dotted horsemint blooming again! When we lived in the Ocala National Forest, we would see it all the time on our walks in the fall. But I haven't really noticed any around here where we live now, about 20 miles north of where we used to live. I love the wildflowers in the fall! So many pretty varieties, and yes! The Butterflies really show off their pretty colors in September it seems! I love seeing them. Thank you for sharing your pictures...oh the horses too! I LOVE horses! Have a lovely September Fall day! It has been lovely this last week. But we sure need some rain! Take care and God bless!
The Dotted Horsemint is beautiful!
My house isn't far from yours, so it doesn't feel like Fall just yet. Mornings are nicer, though! I love the photos you shared today and those flowers are interesting and lovely! Happy weekend!!
I've never heard of dotted horsemint, but it certainly puts on a show! Does it smell like mint at all, I wonder?
The speckled mint it beautiful. I've not seen that before.
The nature is astounding here
My goodness, the nature around your world is beautiful!!! Hope you are enjoying some Jeep rides on these lovely days!

I've never heard of dotted horsemint before. It's really pretty.
You threw a new one at me... the dotted horsemint.... It's pretty up close and I am glad it has some medicinal qualities that helps us and horses. I just learn so much from all you blogging girls.
I really enjoyed seeing the horsemint in bloom and those butterflies were such a nice bonus.
Seeing and smelling the horsemint must of been wonderful.

Hello Diane,
The closeups of the flowers are beautiful.
I love all the horses photos. and the butterflies are lovely.

Oh my, Diane, that Dotted Horsemint is gorgeous. I assume it smells like mint? What a treat to find on your travels. And what pretty butterflies.
The dotted horsemint is so beautiful, I can almost smell it through the screen! It's so interesting to learn about its medicinal uses, too. The horses are stunning, and it's really cool that you have a place to see them on your walks. It sounds like your local nature is really thriving right now!

When nature abounds, as in your neck of the woods, life feels very promising and hopeful. :)
What beautiful butterflies and horses. Thanks for sharing, it's always a pleasure seeing what you discovered and photographed.
I love those flowers, Diane.
Wow, your first photo just pops with brilliant shades of color! Each photo is dreamy. Nice horses too. I always enjoy seeing your photos and what the real Florida is all about! Take care!
I never saw or smelled Dotted Horsemint! At least I can see them! Beautiful!
Oh. The only horses I see here - very seldom - are police horses. When young you found me riding myself, or just snuggling up with them - sweet memories!
Yesterday likely was the last day of summer here, it was wonderful, 80F till late at night, I had to blog today :-)
Saying goodbye to summer and hello to autumn in your piece of paradise looks absolutely beautiful!
Gracias por tan bonito reportaje, me gustó mucho. Besos.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photographs.
Yes, Fall/Autumn is here ... the colours are turning, the weather is cooling as the season encroaches.
Enjoy your week.
All the best Jan
What wonderful images to usher in our Fall season! Now, if you can reduce those temps another degree or two, you'll be my heroine.
Looks like you had a good time "horsing" around.
Horsemint comes in so many different shades of beautiful color. We have tons at the ranch and I notice the horsemint farther to the west of DFW area is a much deeper shade of purple. Your photos are so pretty!!
I have never heard of Horesemint before but it is spectacular to look at and yes I am sure to smell as well. The beautiful butterflies are also very special.
The horse photos bring back so many memories, I do miss my horses so much.
Have a good week, Cheers from t'other Diane
Always a pleasure... thank you for sharing, dear Blogfriend at

It sounds like a perfect afternoon to enjoy the trails and the wildflowers at the preserve, even if it's still 90 degrees out. melodyjacob.com

Your pictures of the horsemint up close are amazing! So nice to enjoy these beautiful trails. Happy Fall to you - it has been a beautiful summer, and so far a lovely fall, we sure can't complain either! Blessings to you!
Wow! the Dotted Horsemint is gorgeous! Lovely photos. Yes, I'm still in Phila for 2 more weeks before we pack up for South Florida for the winter and our temps are ranging from low morning temps in the low 60's to 85 during the day right now.
